Roy Hodgson fears Chris Brunt may be set for an extended spell on the sidelines. Harry Redknapp awaits news on the extent of calf injuries to William Gallas and Sandro, while Bacary Sagna is reportedly ahead of schedule in his comeback from an ankle injury:

Spurs’ hard-fought win over West Brom last night came at price after William Gallas and Sandro both left the field with calf injuries. The pair are awaiting scans today and, while the severity of Gallas’ injury is yet unclear, Harry Redknapp revealed post-match that Sandro appears to have torn the muscle, with a long absence now expected. The injury problems racked up yesterday, with Jake Livermore, who came on as a sub for Sandro, also limping out of the Baggies clash. Scott Parker missed the game with a knee problem but is hopeful to be available for next week’s game with Everton.

Roy Hodgson has revealed Shane Long missed last night’s game at Spurs due to a back injury. While it is not thought to be serious, it could make the Irishman’s status questionable for the next few weeks. The Baggies boss admitted Chris Brunt is facing a prolonged spell on the sidelines after suffering an ankle injury against Everton. Hodgson is bracing himself for bad news over the playmaker’s availability:

He has a CT scan today – but we know it’s a serious injury. It’s just a question of the degree of seriousness.

David Moyes is hopeful that loan-signing Landon Donovan can hit the ground running against Bolton tonight. The Everton boss has revealed the American has trained well, looks sharp and is looking forward to getting on the field:

Fitness-wise he is not someone who carries a lot of weight. He is quite lightweight and he looks okay. He has settled in very quickly, so we look forward to getting him in the game and seeing how he does.

Reports suggest Arsene Wenger has been handed a defensive boost with the news that Bacary Sagna could return to the first team sooner than expected. Sagna has been missing since October with a broken ankle and may be fit to face Manchester United in gameweek 22.

Martin O’Neill received some positive injury news today, with both Craig Gordon and Michael Turner returning to reserve action this afternoon. Though their results on the pitch have been impressive, the Black Cats have struggled for options, with a few of O’Neill’s first-team squad struggling with injuries and illness of late.

Hatem Ben Arfa has voiced his frustration at not seeing more first team action for Newcastle this season. The Frenchman has declared himself ‘completely fit’, but believes that his playing style doesn’t suit that of manager Alan Pardew. While Fantasy managers are hopeful of more game time for the Frenchman when Demba Ba departs for the African Cup of Nations, Ben Arfa bemoaned

It’s true we don’t share quite the same philosophy. For him, it’s more crosses, a bit of a more direct style, whereas I’m more the kind of player who likes to play short passes.

Wigan striker Albert Crusat was helped off the pitch during last night’s defeat against Sunderland with a back injury. The Spaniard was replaced after 38 minutes by Victor Moses and was in some discomfort as he left the field. Roberto Martinez said:

We will assess Albert over the next 24 hours, but he couldn’t breathe when he came off so it is a worry.

Mick McCarthy’s first-team options have increased today, with the news that Michael Kightly has returned to Wolves after a three-month loan spell with Watford.

    I can't seem to ignore QPR's good run of fixtures. Have read Demi's marvelous pro Nani bit above and so:

    Nani & Helguson

    or

    Valencia & Studge.

    I'm leaning towards the former.

      That said 'I can’t seem to ignore QPR’s good run of fixtures' - I can. IMO get Morison over Helguson (even punt on Best when Ba goes ACON). Not a fan of the Helgicopter myself.

            Well, generally I'd argue it is. Even if its 80% luck, the determining factor over a course of time will be the 20% skill. Statistically, no-one is 'luckier' than another.

            That's the reason why more experienced/savvy players will habitually end up in the top 15k every season, or thereabouts.

            Same with Poker.. same players tend to end up in the cash every WSOP, although yes luck is that bit extra that lands you the #1 spot.

          Some proper good FPL managers pop up on here occasionally, just need to look out for them. I agree with Locarno, you do get an incredible amount of dross in the comments section on here. FPL is a based on a lot of luck, but you can make your own luck... by not making the retarded transfers that are often suggested on here,

      If we all agreed then this site would be a fairly dull place. You don't have to accept the advice. You don't even have to link your team. You can ask a question and then get a whole bunch of answers. Rank their importance by team rank or however you like.

      I'm in the top 10k and I recommend your WC should include De Laet, Ferguson and, for the next 3 weeks only, Mr. J Barton.

      The nature of the site im afraid.

      Personally i think this site is a fantastic tool but at the end of the day, i feel i know my football as well as anyone on here and im sure you feel the same. Part of the reason we love the sport is because its so unpredictable and as such, a fantasy game is gonna be difficult to predict too. I use it to pick up on any relevant news, injuries, info from specific team fans especially the ones outside the top 6, and for ideas. Questions like Nani or Silva or my personal favourite from earlier in the season, Nasri or Silva etc are just a waste of time in my opinion, even my dog knows they are huge players, how the hell can anyone know better than anyone else who is the right pick.

    Hi guys really need your advice please – which of the following is the best WC team?

    A)

    Lindegaard (Vorm)
    Enrique, Kompany, Caulker (Simpson, Shotton)
    Silva, Nani, Valencia, Bale (McClean)
    Sturridge, Aguero, RVP

    B) Krul, Jones and Ba instead of Lindegaard, Shotton and Aguero

    C) Yakubu, Jones, and Sessegnon instead of Aguero, Simpson and McClean

    Thanks!

    WC at end of month. For now 2FTs. Current team is

    Vorm
    BAE Enrique Simpson Jones
    Silva(C) Nani Bale
    RVP(V) Ade Ba

    Given Walters Dyer Shotton

    Possible transfers:
    1 – Ba—>Bellamy/Sturridge
    2 – Jones—->Kompany/Richards
    3 – Given—->Ruddy (Vorm every week)
    4 – BAE + Ba—->Kompany/Richards + Flectcher/Yak/Bendtner (less than 6.2 FWD)
    5 – Shotton + Ba—-> Richards + Morison/Helguson/Graham (5.3 FWD)
    6 – any 2 of 1-3

      I say no, I'm looking at both. If you are short for cash lose 1, but otherwise stick with it. People say Aguero is hot and cold, he has 14 goals already, only RvP has more, he is capable of big scores, plays every week and is still only in his first EPL season, he will get better as it goes on.

      Senderos looks more secure (after an early season period when yours truly owned him and got very little but a price drop from him). Kelly would be a highly inexpensive 'mistake' if it didn't work out but if your bank balance was dry it could leave you without one good sub.

        Baird seems the only Kelly competition however, and he can also play in Senderos's place..
