    This is the worst year I've had on FPL - I'm 200 points behind my mini league leader, so I think I have to take an early WC. There is £500 for the winner so my chances are about as good as Gary Glitter being made a teacher at a kindergarden?

      Bit intrigued by the Arshavin pick. Bit expensive but he might play more now and even last season he was very effective. Would have topped the assist charts if he had kept his ratio and played every minute.

      He's looking awfully off form tbh but it might pick up!

    Just re-watching MOTD from last night.

    Although from Plymouth, I've always followed Newcastle as my second team, and I have to say it is a joy to watch Newcastle defending so well last night. For so many years, even when Newcastle were real contenders, their defence was always a joke, I use to bring attacking players in when they were playing against Newcastle, but Houghton, and followed on by Pardew have done a fantastic job at making them a might tighter and well organised team. Well done.

    and to to make this semi about FPL, Simpson has done very nicely as my 5th defender this season. About the only player who wont move from my team all season.

      Moses/Clev over McClean - until the kid's nailed-on.

      Clark should be out once Herd's back fit? I'd get Caulker. No Swans defence is blasphemy.

        Fair enough about Swans defence, I reckon McClean will be nailed on, but will wait and see obviously if he starts against you.

        I like the idea of putting most of my money on City, Hart will bag points I think. Not too sure I'll be able to forgive Nani if he doesn't score against Bolton...if he does it'll change my team drastically I think!

              Cleverley is awesome.

              I know he plays CM but gets forward a lot. He was the real fulcrum of the Utd midfield when around. Always a chance of goal/assist. Gets in for set-pieces too!

        Was simply doubling up on the defence as Richards doesn't play all the time I thought it would be a little risky having him and Kompany.

      It would actually be fair to say we dont need to directly understand the PPI, but create a list of the key attributes for a bonus points grabber. This could be dont by looking at who is getting a lot of bonus points.

      as i'm most likely going to become pretty redundant now this was my formula for bps:
      things that count (in order of strength)
      goals
      winning (charlie sheen would be an absolute bonus whore)
      assists
      clean sheets
      shots on target
      blocks
      tackles
      crosses
      dribbles
      aerial duels
      turnovers

      my rough estimates for what they all got was:
      goal = 18 for a mid, 16 for a striker, 10 for a penalty
      winning = 1 point per 10mins
      assist = 8 for mid, 7 for striker
      clean sheet = 3
      shot on target = 3
      block = 2
      tackle, cross, dribble, aerial duel, turnover = 1

      then shot off target = -5
      yellow card = -3
      foul = -1
      conceding = -1 per goal

      based on that is was averaging about 20/30 bp recipients in the correct order every gameweek and about 27 of the 30 identified every week.

          Less points for penalty goals, I like that. Always thought that should be a feature in the game itself too. Why should a mid get more points for scoring a penalty than a striker? Makes no sense.

      was initially considering wc in week 22 where manu play ars and city play spurs but spurs have wigan at home in 23 and i would lose both BAE and ade in the wc so hoping to hold on until 24.

      aguero has spurs and everton away in 22 and 23 so its not such a loss.. and with my 2 FT in 23 im hoping to lose drenthe and rodwell for sessegnon and someone else anyway

        Ade's a double-edged sword as he misses GW23, but he does have a plum fixture the week after - a fixture in which Spurs strikers have been known to score 5.

    Looks perfect. Except maybe Moses - Maclean and the GK rotation. There is a lot of Friedel love out there and sorensen rotates well with Vorm.

    Elsewhere, is there any Ramires love? I just fancy Ramires over Dempsey this week. Still not convinced Blackburn are poor and Fulham are great away under Jol.

    Ramires will play at least 70 after that performance. I can afford either because I am dropping Drenthe. I have had enough now and Jones is next unless he pulls his finger out.
