Benoit Assou-Ekotto’s left-foot ensured that the double gameweek had the impact we’d anticipated, but there can be no doubt the he was an unexpected source of satisfaction.

A 30-yard screamer, deflecting off Tim Cahill’s posterior, marked the closest Everton’s Aussie has got to getting his name on the scoresheet this season. Assou-Ekotto has gone one better than the Socceroo, rightly claiming a stunning strike, although his application for goal of the season will surely be turned down thanks to Cahill’s intervention.

With 10% ownership in the Fantasy Premier League game, after over 40,000 transfers in for Gameweek 20, Assou-Ekotto has clearly provided a major boost to a fair slice of Fantasy managers. Those who missed out on tonight’s goal, assist and clean sheet bonanza can at least take some comfort from the fact that such returns were far from signposted. The Cameroon international had scored just one league goal in his previous five seasons – he had mustered just a single shot on target this term before this evening.

It was surely Assou-Ekotto’s price tag, rather than his proven attacking prowess, behind his selection for Tottenham’s double Gameweek. His investors could hardly have expected a profit of 21 point (24 with the inevitable bonus) for their punt.

All the expectation was instead laid at the door of Gareth Bale, Rafael Van der Vaart and Emmanuel Adebayor. While the two of that trio managed to scratch together an assist of Tottenham’s two matches, Adebayor was a major let down; just two goal attempts, both off target, saw the Togo striker do little to justify the FPL armband.

For many, the first double gameweek passed as a non-event – a reminder that the hype and over investment so often involved, can slap us in the face. And yet, ironically, the unlikely profit from Assou-Ekotto demonstrates just how that extra transfer, perhaps even a 4-point hit, can pay off spectacularly when the doubles come around.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

BAE playing really well of late , should have had some bonus points in the first game of week imo.

Think i will keep him , despite the tougher fixtures , he might not score again but should get quite a few assists , now Bale is playing more central , BAE is sending in plenty of crosses

Bosingwa - Skinny little sh1t with a mangina.
Evans - Lanky streak of p1sh.
Riise - Ginger but has good fixtures and is due one of those rocket shots.
Koscielny - Much improved from his previous antics and Arsenal are alot more settled at the back.

      Riise or Koscielny. Prob Riise.

Downgrade BAE after earning 0.1 on him (he won't do that again, ever)
      Use cash to upgrade Ferguson.
You will need to do a keeper transfer very soon when Schwarzer returns

    a) 4 point hit to put in Rooney for RVP this GW.

    b) 8 point hit to keep RVP, get Rooney for Sturridge and downgrade Silva for McClean/Sigurdsson

    c) Leave it the hell alone and hope that Sturridge & Silva play.

    Jose Enrique, Raylor, Assou-Ekotto

    Walters, Nani (c), Silva, Mata

    Yakubu, Van P (v), Adebayor

    1 ft, 0.0

    A) WC (Ruddy, Adebayor, Caulker are first suspects)

    B) Caulker > Kelly

    C) Kompany to Richards

    D) Sit

Any help much appreciated guys! Kompany loss really goofed up my team for this week

C would do it, no major need for a wildcard. But you do only have a week or two and that's an extra week or two of value gains if you pick the right guys.

C is definitely tempting.. Trying to save my wildcard as long as possible.

Still not sure on Aguero vs. Rooney, or simply a Bellamy/Odemthingy for Adebayor's slot, and my defense is completely up in the air.

Could use the time to think.

        Thanks for reply!

Have you noticed his form, or remember what he did last year, or understand how Ferguson can suddenly bang someone into his team for a few months after no matches? Obviously a punt due to rotation but I think 1 punt out of 11 is a reasonable thing to do when I have a strong bench and RVP as VC (Ended up ditching Nasri btw cause that was just dumb). So yeah I expect people to be somewhat helpful in their answers and for the most part they have been. Also, you're a Liverpool fan and 100 points behind me. Just saying...

Ditching Nasri, yeah he's doing shag all. Leaving Berbatov in and captaining him. Big punt but I can afford it in my league, I think RVPs days are numbered and Rooney isn't scoring, so my other options, (that my opponents will probably pick), are doing shag all too. Cheers for the replies.

For the next 3 gw's who should i go for- Adebayor or Sturridge. I missed the match today but it is clear that Adebayor was disappointing.

Adebayor simply for starting XI? Isn't sturridge touch and go? Might only play a few minutes. Can reassess next week?

In ways I believe Fantasy players get carried away if one of their players don't deliver. Unlike other high profile players, he plays every game, left the pitch with a smile on his face. Strikers don't do it every game.

Why is he not dropping already? Thought people would be shipping him out.

You reckon alot of dead teams will have him and he won't be going anywhere from their teams?

he is still over 3000 away from dropping. That wont happen before price change tonight but will by weekend.

Yeah dead teams will keep him such as one Hutton Dressed as Lahm linked on last page.
