With the elongated Gameweek 20 finally sewn up, it’s time to look ahead to the weekend action. For eight fantasy managers, that means Quarter-Final time in the Paddy Power Cup V. Having battled through eight stages, they are just one win away from the prize-winning games. Here is the line-up…

1Sc8tt26Vs.Funkyav
2DeclanVs.Raasclart
3CSKA AWFULVs.sleepingmaster
4soulman27Vs.ChickenDevil

At the time of writing, first out of the hat Sc8tt26 is the highest-ranked fantasy manager left, and is the only one in the top 1000 overall. If he’s considered the top-seed, then he’s been drawn against the second in Funkyav. Was it not for an abysmal Gameweek 20 score, the tables would be turned and Funkyav would be the man to beat.

Declan faces-off against Raasclart, whilst the last round’s top-scorer, CSKA AWFUL, takes on sleepingmaster. Finally, having reached the Quarters by the skin of his teeth, ChickenDevil comes up against soulman27.

I’m sure you’ll all join me in wishing our Quarter-Finalists the best of luck. I’ll bring you the results shortly after the Gameweek has concluded.

I have BAE and will keep him, think in bringing Friedel (rotate with Vorm), so wouldh ave to choose between these two guys. I kept VDV all the way up and down, been too late in bringing Bale as a bargain..... so am really sorry to sell VDV.

    FF non related question:

Would you rate a striker not in form "just" because he doesn´t score goals?

Not necessarily. Suarez (racism aside) is a great example of a player performing well for the team, causing defences allsorts of problems and leading the line for the team. If a striker is constantly working for the team and getting in the right positions to score he isn't doing too badly.

But ultimately a striker is judged on the goals he scores as that is what he is paid to do.

What do you think of Ramires from Chelsea?

    He's a lively one...

Has had a couple of breakout big weeks already, and has 4 goals, 8 in all competitions....

Has played up top on the right with Sturridge out, and generally gets amongst it - even when deeper in midfield.

    Looking for a differential....

Or should I just puss out and take Walters or Larsson?

I stayed on the bench for forty days and forty nights, as I had done the first time. And once again David Moyes did not listen to me. David Moyes was unwilling to destroy you. The lo David Moyes said to me, ‘Get up, go on your journey to the head of this shitty Everton team, that Ba may stay on the sinners benches. Go and occupy the space behind the Hebrew defence and deliver the single point that I swore to their ancestors to give them.

Jesus said unto Moyes: "Verily I say unto thee, that this season, before the cock crow, thou shalt deny Drenthe thrice." Moyes said unto Jesus, "Though I should die with thee, yet will I not deny Drenthe." Likewise also said all the disciples.

Now Moyes sat without at The Hawthorns: and FPL managers came unto him, saying, "Thou canst play Royston of Drenthe for four score minutes and ten". But he denied before them all, saying,"I know not what thou sayest."

And when he was gone out into Goodison Park, an Everton fan saw him, and said unto them that were there, "This home match against Bolton Nomads well becometh Royston of Drenthe." And again Moyes denied with an oath, "I do not know the man".

And after a while came unto him they that stood by at the Lane of the White Hart, and said to Moyes, "Surely thou also wisheth Everton to vanquish their football foes, for thy speech bewrayeth thee." Then began Moyes to curse and to swear, saying, "I know not the Drenthe."

And immediately the cock crew. And Moyes remembered the word of Jesus, which said unto him, "Before the cock crow, thou shalt deny Drenthe thrice." And he went out, and wept bitterly.

Lindegaard has played 4 of the last 5. Ferguson only said that De Gea was the -long term- number 1 choice. Meaning Lindegaard will still be getting plenty more games this season. 4.4m for a goalkeeper who plays in nearly half the games for one of the best defences in the league is an absolute steal.

    Morning all,
With the WC there seems to be either the injury hit people who are playing it this week or those who are holding tight til GW23. Now how different do you expect those two sides to be? I can see that in 23 you will almost certainely want to only have 1 Spurs player, possibly have 3 city players and Swansea's fixtures also get a bit better. On top of this there will be some transfer movement with a few bargains to be had (Cahill style) as well as some temping newbies (Sigurdsson for example).

For myself I think if I WC this week I will almost certainely score better this week but I don't know if that out-ways the benfits of waiting til 23. What are other people's opinions?

My plan was to wait until wk22/23. However, im so far behind and theres a few doubts around some of my players that i think i might be able to make up some decent ground by playing it now and not lose out too much by doing so in terms of the team i can have in 2-3wks.

Best to wait as long as you can to WC I guess, but you will have to accept your score will most likely be worse until then, depending on the state of your team of course.

On the other hand if you're a good planner I don't think there is a bad time to WC.

I have most definitely noticed whilst planning for the late WC. Will probably just have the one United, Arsenal and Liverpool player and then look to add to that as the fixtures improve. In your case i'm not sure i'd want to use the WC in such quick succession. Rather wait for some fixture congestion and DGW later in the year i think (although i really am not experienced in having a wildcard so late in the season!)

To date, this season really hasn’t been one for ‘playing the fixtures’

I’ll certainly be going for some city coverage but the rest aren’t that appealing to me apart from one or 2 players

Also, many of the games between the top teams have produced a lot of goals this season

but then again if you have 2 WC, why not

Newcastle's, Fulham's, Man City's and Sunderlands fixtures are good from GW22 then simply switching sunderland to stoke works fine. I love the idea of your second wildcard, but I don't think it'll make a huge difference for you as your team is good either way for GW22.

Basically I think you'll benefit whenever because you plan properly.

If you're playing catch up then I think it's definitely worth a gamble. Might as well attack now and hope to make up the ground than waiting and waiting. Worry about that when it comes. It'll be the one time where you're guaranteed to have a lot of players your rivals won't have.

I played my wc in gw12. Since then 6 red and 3 green arrows - nice!
Maybe I don't use my january one at all, because it feel that every move I make, makes my team little weaker.

No suprise that the team that beat me in cup, was a dead time with no trannies all season!!

Well I know that maybe my 25K rank isn't that bad, but top 1K is slipping away ðŸ™

I think many people will be kicking themselves in a few weeks, realising they've sold their Swansea defensive options. Football is a funny old game.

Not me. When you look at the teams they've played at home so far i can only see that defensive record going one way...

Close to putting -1 here Milkman to be honest. I really can't see Swansea holding on much longer, don't forget they've only just come up, they'll run out of steam soon!

Would people rather have Lindegaard or Evans as cover for Man Utd's defence?

Evans more certain imo, but on recent performances (or lack of from his competition) Lindegaard might become a permanent fixture.

theoretically, Lindy will get more points (CS + saves) and JEvans is less of a rotation risk but more of a "being a bit rubbish" risk.

SAF seems to like JEvans for some reason.

I`ll be glad when wildcard is done as I`m spending way to much time tinkering and will more than likely get it wrong.

To save boring you all to death with another wildcard team of mine can you pick two from three of these please - Gerrard, Rooney, Aguero.

Who does Gerrard come in for? Silva? Nani?

If the former, then Gerrard Aguero, if the latter, Gerrard Aguero, then fit in Valencia. I'm having the same conundrum btw

Ben Arfa but means Rooney or Aguero get bounced for Leon Best.

        What do you think?

depends on the rest of your team.

for STO, Shotton is currently OOP and getting forward too. Ethrington is also looking decent.
for SUN, McClean is getting hyped to the rafters and has been decent do far.

Sess seems to be in better form lately, but Walters is on penalties. Hard choice but I pick Sess because he's cheaper and I have a feeling his run will continue.

Sess or McClean and Ben Arfa is the most tempting, but it takes balls!

        Do you have balls???

Stupidly confirmed transfering Simpson out and can't afford to bring him back in now!

    Santon or Williamson?

    Vorm - Ruddy
    Kelly S - Enrique - Jones P - Caulker - Santon/Williamson
    Sessegnon - Walters - Silva - Bale - McClean
Sturridge - Van Persie - Aguero
