There’s no doubt the Martin O’Neill effect has made a substantial difference to Sunderland’s recent fortunes. With thirteen points in the six games since the Irishman has taken the reigns, in comparison to eleven points in fourteen fixtures under the guidance of Steve Bruce, the new manager has brought about an increased interest in his players as Fantasy assets…

One of the main beneficiaries of the new regime on Wearside has been young James McClean. Prior to O’Neill’s introduction, the winger had failed to appear in a single minute of Sunderland’s season as the club sank ever-closer to the relegation zone. Bruce, to his credit, was the one who acquired McClean but a refusal to afford him a first-team chance has, on reflection, proved something of an unfortunate oversight.

Picking up maximum Fantasy Premier League (FPL) bonus points in his two starts under O’Neill, in addition to notching a goal in the 4-1 win at Wigan, McClean has been propelled onto Fantasy radars as a strong cut-price option. Coming in at just 4.5, he continued his strong form last weekend, scoring and assisting in the 2-0 FA Cup win at Peterborough and, with winter wildcards being weighed up, his name is popping up in plenty provisional squads.

Is this surge of interest justified? We delved deeper into McClean’s performance statistics so far to judge his role in the Sunderland revival and assess his likely potential for the weeks ahead compared to his team-mates, and another familiar name in his FPL price bracket…

Cheers guys, I'm avoiding Sess and Walters. I just realised I could get Milner or A. Johnson in budget. WIG vs MCI seems like a good plan.

Johnson played 60 minutes vs Liverpool and Milner the full 90. Think Johnson would be more likely to get the full 90 at the weekend?

We've seen how Fergie managed Evans in the past and since we're a bit short at the back, Fergie will put start him. Supposed Rio doesn't return by then, he's only left Jones and Smalling. One of them gotta start right back and that's when Evans comes into the picture.

I have been trying to work out whether to rotate Yakubu and Walters, giving:
FUL WBA NEW SUN QPR SWA NOR wol SUN bol
    for the next 10 gameweeks
(Walters features only in home games)

or to get Studge + McClean, playing Studge in every match, with McClean ready to come off the becnh for injury/rotation. Studge would have:
SUN nor swa MUN eve BOL wba STO mci TOT
    over the same timeframe

Looking at fixtures, it appears a no-brainer - Yak and Walters. However Studge gives an easy route back to Ba when he returns from ACON.

    Thoughts?

First RMT on this post, sorry.

    Vorm Ruddy
    BAE Enrique Evans Simpson Hibbert
    Bale Nani Silva Drenthe Fox
    RvP Ade Ba

1 FT, 0.2 in the bank.

With the Sturridge news I’ll almost certainly go Ba to Sturridge (although tempted by Odem for a punt home to Norwich.)

Would you also do something like Hibbert to Senderos as well for a 4 pointer, bearing in mind that Silva is a doubt, Fox is useless, Evans isn’t nailed on and Drenthe is Drenthe (who I want to keep for BLA)?

Hard to say. All top elites have favourable fixtures and a defender among those to choose from.

Ok, who is the best defender at Kompany's price or less to get for the next 2 or 3 gameweeks? Definitely want Bad K back from gw24 at the latest.

Micah Richards. Clean sheets and assists. He looks convincing at that Liverpool game so chances are he might get you a goal or most likely an assist from the flank.

Don't you think they might concede more without Bad K? (Especially with Yaya gone.)
