The first Scoutcast of 2012 is here. There’s no dressing this up, the Episode title tells you exactly what to expect. With consecutive gameweek scores hovering around the two millionth rank mark and “ghost ship” squads passing me by, who can really blame me?

A string of unfortunate transfers and an errant injury to an Arsenal centre-back threatens to bring my season falling around my ears. Mark spends much of the podcast attempting to reassure me – convinced I’m at the point of no return, whilst simultaneously adding a few sly digs on the 71 points that’s opened up between us. I wouldn’t have expected anything less.

The season and the show must go on. In between gripes, we eventually throw in the usual array of regulars and, by the end, there’s even a sense of hope. Happy New Year? It couldn’t get any worse.

Feel my pain here.

I remember Best did alright at the start of the year - he could be one to keep an eye on. I wouldn't go for a Newcastle striker necessarily, ba was scoring so much due to himself more than anything. I'd look at Odem or yak. Sturridge if you don't have him?

I`ve got 7.3 m and Sturridge is 7.4 🙁 or else I would go for him. Is Best even gonna start? or will it be ben arfa and S. Ameobi?

I wouldn't risk Best, I'd go for Yakubu if I was you. Agbonlahor hasn't been as good as he was at a start of the season. Odem is still a bit of a risk really. If you aren't keen on Yak I'd take a little risk of Welbeck, I reckon he's going to get a number of starts, his goal against city was fantastic. The boss isn't keen on Berba anymore and he really can't play Hernandez at the moment due to form. I reckon he'll start and score against Bolton

agree, I dont like doubling up but going for double LIV seems like a decent shout with their fixtures in the next 3 GW. Or any other suggestions for a 6 mil defender for the next 3

Would quite like to know the Silva news, have two WC teams prepared for with or without him.

        With Silva:
        Schwarzer Vorm
        SHOTTON shawx Jevans Senderos Williamson
        Gerrard SILVA Bale Dempsey Mcclean
        Odemwinge Aguero Rvp

        Without:

        Schwarzer Vorm
        RICHARDS shawx Jevans Senderos Williamson
        Gerrard VALENCIA Bale Dempsey Mcclean
        Odemwinge Aguero Rvp

Reckon either team is good to go? Got a 100 point deficit to catch.

          WC ?
If so.....Mignolet could lose place to Gordon. MON is new so he might try and restore Gordons reputation and Westwood also competing. If you're sticking with Vorm (I amn't) rotate him with Stockdale/Schwarzer or Krul (as you said)
          Lescott to Richards.
BAE to Stoke defender to rotate with Senderos.
Gerrard could be a good differential. Nani to Valencia. Ben Arfa and McClaen too risky for starts...consider Dempsey/ Sess/ Walters with the money you've saved.
Front 3 good but if you have any cash left try and upgrade Fletcher

I wouldn't let if put you off, he looks a good player. willing to have a go at defenders and has a goal or two in him. I've no doubt he'll get a few assists as well , he's kean and seems to be really relishing his opportunity and while he's delivering o'neill will keep playing him. Not a big risk at 4.5

Since WIG went 3-5-2 though, Moses has phropheted. He'll always be there or thereabouts. Still in top 10 for goal attempts in recent weeks.

so if your going for current form then mclean has current form. Besides that, Sunderland are full of confidence right now where Wigan (although playing better) are fighting a relegation battle. Sunderland have better players who will convert more chances in comparison with Wigan imo.

I disagree, mcclean is in my WC team and is staying put, he's vurst onto the scene and can see big things coming from him, jeez, a new player comes on the scene, scores maximum BP's in his first two games and people are still put off, i for one am not overlooking him. wigan and peterborough or not, he will be perform well against anyone i reckon, chelsea will hold no fear for him.

I'm just going to bed now, but I'll leave you with this, which I believe is the best answer to the goalkeeping conundrum!

I've done some research and Krul seems to be the best value keeper to have for the rest of the season if rotated with either Mignolet or Sorensen (who are both much cheaper). I've had Krul since his 4.5m price so this works particularly well for me.

Ideally start with Mignolet as the 2nd keeper and keep him up to and including GW24, then if you the chance, swap Mignolet to Sorensen for the games up to and including GW27. Finally switch back to Mignolet from GW28 until the end of the season (you can still swap further if you wish).

If you study the fixtures you'll see what I mean. 🙂

Goodnight and best of luck for the rest of the season.

P.S. If you can't be bothered transferring keepers throughout the season (to maximise potential clean sheets), then just stick with Krul and Mignolet.

I think it's supposed to be pretty good, but I didn't do comparisons between Vorm and Sorensen myself. I discounted Vorm once I saw most of the remaining home fixtures are extremely difficult ones.

I'm going Krul/Mignolet but I'm not sure why the swap to Sorensen is necessary.

          Krul gets:
          24- AVL
          25- tot
          26- WOL
          27- SUN
          28- ars

You're starting him 3/4 here and GW 25 it's almost better to roll the dice on Mignolet (ARS) rather than making a 1 GW transfer.

If anything, grab Hennessey from 25-28 when Wolves get WBA and BLA on the bookends of that period. Better than hanging onto Sorensen for 25 (ful) 28 (che) or Mignolet 25 (ARS) 28 (LIV).

All in all, I'd rather just stick with Krul/Mignolet and suffer in 25/28 but have a good shot at saves against ARS and LIV and save the transfer. Then again, this is coming from someone who doesn't take hits. Transfers are a bit too valuable to rotate keepers on unless you have nothing else to make OR you get an injury in my opinion.

Different! Like the few punts in there. Torres is a risk but (c) is just asking for trouble.

Problems for me this week ; Wilkinson and Brown injured but on the bench this week because of bad fixtures.
McAuley also yellow flagged but he hopefully might make it at home to Norwich.
        Jones may well get rested.
I may only have BAE as my only playing defender.
Silva...meh...I will ride that one out like others.

My head says Brown to J Evans.

My heart says Drenthe to Ben Arfa......WCing after Saturday morning deadline.

        Head or Heart?

Has to be Evans in with the problems at the back. Also a chance Drenthe finally starts this week? HBA himself is a rotation risk?

valencia has better form than nani in the last 5-6 g/w's VDV points per minute is possibly the best mid its 6 and half a dozen with him and bale but all my competitors have bale which is why i've gone VDV. Aguero not doing great just now so not overly sold on im at that price. Gerrard and Bellamy slightly risky i agree but i have to take the odd risk

          Riise> Senderos
          Friedel>Mignolet

          Upgrade elsewhere.

No need to double up on Liverpool attack, they're hardly prolific. If you want Gerrard then switch Bellamy to Odemwingie. Also I'd downgrade Friedel to Krul, and upgrade Riise to Richards maybe.
