The first Scoutcast of 2012 is here. There’s no dressing this up, the Episode title tells you exactly what to expect. With consecutive gameweek scores hovering around the two millionth rank mark and “ghost ship” squads passing me by, who can really blame me?

A string of unfortunate transfers and an errant injury to an Arsenal centre-back threatens to bring my season falling around my ears. Mark spends much of the podcast attempting to reassure me – convinced I’m at the point of no return, whilst simultaneously adding a few sly digs on the 71 points that’s opened up between us. I wouldn’t have expected anything less.

The season and the show must go on. In between gripes, we eventually throw in the usual array of regulars and, by the end, there’s even a sense of hope. Happy New Year? It couldn’t get any worse.

Feel my pain here.

Playing catch up in my main leagues... the following maybe worth a WC punt?? Or clutching at straws?

    Vorm Krul
    BAE Richards JEvans Simpson
    BenArfa Bale Nani
    Rooney(c) Augero(vc) RVP

    Caulker Moses McLean

    leaves 0.2 in bank

    Thoughts appreciated

The Mother of all forward lines leaves you a little short of beefcake cover in midpark. Aguero->Ade; Benny Arthur -> Silva.

Great front 3 (obviously). Ben Arfa for me is not as reliable for minutes as some (same for J Evans, although he is cheap). Looks decent overall, your forwards could keep you in it in any given week.

only .8 in bank... so cant go to a massive hitter unless i transfer someone else out...

silva is most obvious with his injury but ive had him from the start so would lose a bomb!

Silva is a season keeper for me unless def. injured. I've had him from the start as well, too much $ at stake + so consitent...

Could you do Ba > Yak, then upgrade Ade > Aguero? you have plenty of spurs coverage and Man City score lot of goals (despite their dip in form, they will come back). Then next week Silva > whomever

          Aahhhh....jealous that HV likes Tina?

Bolton will concede 3 IMO. Minimum. Probably won't have Cahill in defence either. Nani has not done anything since I bought him 3-4 weeks ago, so he owes me.

Wolves I have a feeling might frustrate Spurs. They did last year if I'm not mistaken. Spurs might also start to feel the pressure now that they are in touching distance of the top spot. It might effect the way they play.Hennesey is a good keeper and I'm sure wull put in a couple of saves.

          There...serious advice.

No need for two united defenders, swap one for a spurs defender..Simpson and Enrique are good choices. Kompany might not be worth keeping, nor Jones. Ditching Dyer and Surman should be on your list of things to do. Sess is the midfield man of the moment, and you may afford him if you ditch Jones/Kompany. With your current situation of 2 pricey defenders and two cheapass midfielders, it's easy to see how you can balance this team. Apart from two crap midfielders and two United defenders your team is very solid. With just two transfers I would swap Kompany for a random bum and Dyer for Sess. But you may as well wildcard now because if you do two transfers this week your team will be almost perfect and you won't have anything but nitpicking to do for your wildcard week.

      Nice-ish.

Would rather you look at cheaper ways into Utd/Liv defences.

Valencia should be Nani imo and Studge, Ade.

Mata still avs less than 5 ppg and plays in a team that has an element of doubt about it.

I had Enrique but everyone has him so I went with Skrtel. I suppose Agger is cheaper. I think Smalling is more nailed on than jones though? I had Nani too but again, alot of ppl own him so I downgraded. Ade became Aguero but I agree. Hopefully I can switch to Ba when he is back.

Good balance in your team. Go for Dempsey if you 'feel' him.

Sorro > Tremmel. After Wigan scored 2 goals at Britannia, I'd never trust Stoke defence to keep a CS. Then, upgrade BAE > Richards if you have the $.

Whoa, I really like your team.

Any of Milner, AJohnson, Nasri punts worth taking with the current fitness concerns with Silva? With Yaya off to the ACN, one would think Milner would be locked in for at least the next 3 weeks?

A side with Milner in it could still look half decent... have been quite averse to having one mid-priced MID in the side... so concerning to have both Milner and Dempsey

        Krul - Vorm
        BAE - Richards - Senderos - JEvans - Simpson
BenArfa - Milner - Nani - Bale - Dempsey or Valencia-
        Augero - Yakubu - RVP

Perhaps a ManU MID double-up with Valencia instead of Dempsey?

    Interesting cup opponent !!

My team: Howard/Ruddy, BAE, Enrique, Simpson, Shotton, Mcauley, Bale, Nani, Sess, Osman, Surman, RVP, Sturridge, Ade

His team: Vorm/Krul, BAE, Enrique, Simpson, Jagielka, Kompany, Bale, Nani, Sess, Walters, Sinclair, RVP, Ba, Ade

    8 players are the same
    Same total score 1062
Almost similar score last week 88, 92
His team has a better depth, but some players are out (Ba, Jags, Kompany)

    Do I have a chance? Osman --> Stevie G = speculative differential?

Oh good, Christina and Jafalad on. I'd love some feedback on these two options, gentlemen.

    A) Sturridge, Valencia, BAE

    or

    B) Roonpig, McClean, Caulker

This is my last tweak to my WC squad and I want it to last for a few weeks. Which ones do ya reckon will give me the greater amount of points? A was the most voted for earlier today, and yet Ginkapo stunned me with his opinion on B...break the tie yes?
**B would give me a front of RVP Aguero Rooney! Thought t was worth mentioning.

My gut feeling is with A, Futs.

That Paulos article put me off McClean and I'm going to monitor him for a bit. Caulker's running into a few stiff fix and Rooney is not in my good books at present.

That Roo, Ag, RVP forward line is a little excessive imo part. as they haven't all been firing of late.

That puts too much pressure on your budgeritoes who aren't expected to deliver the same returns.

I'm not keen on any of the options in A but the question was asking about points totals over the coming weeks.

...I'm answering the posts with my team and plans in the back of my head...so maybe I'm not giving objective advice.

.."last for a few weeks" is a dangerous assumption in FPL world....personally I would go with Silva/nani + Rooney/Kun. Make a decision...I know it's tough...tell me about it.

I told someone earlier this week that I honeslty think Rooney will outscore Kun over the next 3 weeks(Might have even been clever arse Rukawo) There after I don't like ManU fixtures and just luuuuurve City's..

F word, I see both of your points. Since I AM wildcarding, I guess I should assume to keep the squad for the next FEW weeks, aka, 7 or above. While I do love Chelsea's fixtures in the next 3 gameweeks, they toughen up. I guess it comes down to my affinity for BAE. He's done loads for my squad and it's hardly reassuring to let him go...but he does have some tough fixtures coming up. *Sigh* gotta let the man go I guess...

Can the morning / dead zone folks cast their expert eyes over what I think I've now decided on for w/c:

    Vorm Krul
    Richards Senderos Kelly Simpson Shotton
    Bale VDV Nani Dempsey Walters
    RVP Aguero Yak

I stupidly already sold Silva a couple of weeks ago, so will wait to get him back in, but definitely in time for gw24 run onwards.

Looks a nice team. Yes, just VDV->Silva for me.

Thanks - definitely gonna get Silva in for gw24, and lose VDV at the same time. Will need to raise a little cash, but I'll find a way. If Nani is flopping he may have to go by then.

Your defenders rotate well but unlike elite teams there is no guarantee that they will keep clean sheets.
Good midfield also but you might want to lose either Bale or VDV when Spurs hit there tough run of fixtures.
The strikers are good too and you can afford to bench Yak for the tough fixtures

My plan is to rotate Yak and Walters. You get the following for them (and Walers plays only in his favoured home fixtures):
FUL WBA NEW SUN QPR SWA NOR wol SUN bol
        for the next 10 gameweeks

      RMWCT:

      Vorm, (Sorensen),
      Smalling, Santon, BAE,
      Silva, Valencia, Bale(V), Dempsey,
      Rooney(C), RVP, Yak.

Subs: McClean, Caulker, Senderos. (0.2 in bank)

Looks fine but I agree that Mclean is a slight rotation risk.
You probably need Man City defensive cover when their fixtures improve.
Probably hold Rooney for the next 3 games and get Aguero after that

Thanks, guys. Yeah, my main dilemma is whether to stick with Rooney + Smalling or switch to Aguero + Richards. I'll change Roo to Aguero next week anyway and then get Kompany in GW 23 since Citeh play Spurs before that where they will concede anyway.

Hey all sprent the week working on my wild card team like everyone else on the site, I think I have the balance right, what you all think. Heres my players and reason for choice.
        Goalkeepers-

Sorensen: Gd home record with stoke, strong team hard to break down on their day.
Mignolet: Sundrland in great form. Tightening up at the back, O' Neill factor. All Sunderland Keepers 4.3/4.4.

        Defenders-

Richards: Clean Sheets, Goals, Assists, Man City, Class player.
        Enrique: CleanSheets, attack minded
BAE: Clean Sheets, team in good form, attack minded team, return of Dawson, although tough fixtures over next few gameweeks, easier run in towards end of season. Worth keeping.
Santon: Making the left back spot his according to Pardew. Back from injury, left footed can play left or right, storms up and down the left flank, Shined in his performances since return from injury. Italian international at very young age. Loved by Morinho at inter. Star of the future:
Kelly: 3.9m , Holding Baird out of the team at the moment. Finding form, Fulham fixtues,

        Midfielders:
Silva, World Class, Man City's magician in midfield, goals assists, quality around him, gd strikers to play with. May miss wigan game due to ankle injury but outside that star player. Captain Choice
Bale: Last years player of season, Prob one the best midfields in prem, attack minded, pace, goals, assists, More free role lately. Captain Choice.
Dempsey: FA Cup hatrick weekend gone. Goals assists, Fulham fixtures, improved every year since coming to prem, makes things happen for fulham.Captains Choice
Valencia,: Great form, Rooney loves playing with him , back at right midfield, loads of assists. Proven player. 8m Nani obviously got more goals in him but 2.5m more expensive, (Cannot afford)
McLean, 4.5m 5th choice mid, looks promising, ONeill says he looks like hes played 103 games and not 3. Good goal record with previous clubs. Signs are good

        Forwards:
Van Persie: If he remains fit , Good chance of golden boot, great form first half of season, applauded by team mates for his strongest season yet. Always Very dangerous. Goals , assists, frees, corners.Captains Choice
Aguero: Again world class, citys #1 striker. Great team very dangerous, many more goals to come. Explosive player.Captains Choice
Sturridge: Playing great first half of season, attack minded team, Possible CF role, loved by AVB , consistent, improving, Good goal record 2011 with bolton and Chelsea. Chelseasplayer of year this season with mata.

What ya all think please leave a comment
        Thanks in advance.

Now all you need is... Silva missing the Wigan game...thus effecting Kun's output....Swans defending for their life at home vs the Gunners....Hughes turning Qpr's fortunes around....like O'Neil has done with Sunderland....Kelly being rotated....Yak keeping his good form....

I see a 45pts max score coming up.

If you read on mignolet same price as other sunderland keepers. Gordon will challenge when hes back. Straight swap if necessary
