The first Scoutcast of 2012 is here. There’s no dressing this up, the Episode title tells you exactly what to expect. With consecutive gameweek scores hovering around the two millionth rank mark and “ghost ship” squads passing me by, who can really blame me?

A string of unfortunate transfers and an errant injury to an Arsenal centre-back threatens to bring my season falling around my ears. Mark spends much of the podcast attempting to reassure me – convinced I’m at the point of no return, whilst simultaneously adding a few sly digs on the 71 points that’s opened up between us. I wouldn’t have expected anything less.

The season and the show must go on. In between gripes, we eventually throw in the usual array of regulars and, by the end, there’s even a sense of hope. Happy New Year? It couldn’t get any worse.

Feel my pain here.

Alternatively, stream away on the handy player below…

So looking at iamsuarez’s brilliant defence rotation checker, it looks as though the defence pairings to have are NEW-SUN & FUL-SWA.

On this basis i’m looking at the following team:

    Schwarzer, Vorm
Richards, Jose Enrique, Evans, Simpson, Brown,
    Silva, Dempsey, Bale, Valencia, (McClean)
    Aguero, RVP, Ba / Sturridge

Not sure if this is the right approach, thoughts are welcome as ever!

Very nice, tho I would consider Enrique - Skretel if poss...
Tbh I have no faith in McClean, but at least he´s cheap... Moses if poss, otherwise looks really strong

cheers, hadn't thought about Skertel, i've had jose since day 1 so i'd lose a lot of value. I know what you mean about McClean, not WCing for a couple of weeks so i can make a more informed decision. If not i'll stick with Nathan Dyer.

Good to hear. He's been good in retreating this season when his team loses possession in order to provide defensive cover for Bosingwa.

    Info on Silva from sky

Silva is hoping to play his part over the coming weeks, with the World Cup winner targeting Monday's North West derby with Wigan for his comeback.

He said: "I think that I will be able to play, although the decision rests with the coach. But it's not going to be an easy night."

Both. Bench Sessegnon, imo. I have a similar problem:

          Lindegaard/Krul
          Assou-Ekotto, Koscielny, Shawcross/Senderos/McAuley
          Bale, Etherington, Dempsey, Sessegnon/Cabaye
          Rooney, van Persie, Adebayor

Think I may bench Sessegnon rather than Etherington. Nice problem to have, really.

ok folks was just pondering if it was possible to have a team with attacking coverage from all the big 6 (United, City, Chelsea, Arsenal, Spurs, Liverpool) I came up with this

    Sorensen, Schwarzer

    Evans, Richards, Senderos, BAE, Santon

    McLean, Bale, Gerrard, Silva. Dempsey

    Welbeck, RvP, Sturridge

Would have loved Mata and Aguero instead of Silva and Stuuridge, but unless I go for Barfa over Dempsey it's not possible, and obviously it would be determined by whether Rooney and Welbeck is Fergie's first choice strike partnership. But in general, what do people think?

Looks good fella. Silva & Studge are fine - except for Silva's possible absence this week. Santon & McClean aren't 100% nailed on but i myself am going for Santon. Nealy went with McClean as well but See got the nod.

would love Sess instead, but funds will not permit it. My sale value is a very average 103.6, people with higher values may be able to get better. I'm not wc until GW so Silva's injury is not a problem and Santon can easily become Williamson or Simpson.

    Good morning!

I had to use my wildcard and I am still a bit unsure about 2 players in my latest team creation.

    Jones and Sessegnon
    or
    Evans or Valencia

I would probably get Valencia out for someone else after the Bolton Game and kee Evans as a cheapie, but I wouldn't like to have a bencher. Evans will probably play as Ferdinand is not fit for Bolton.

From the last United game Jones was back up in Defence (that was my original desicion to change him for another MU defender), so he is not Oop anymore with Scholes back in action and Young nearly fit to compete with Valencias place.

Bonus question: Dempsey is still an Oop Forward?!

Thank you. I am actually ok with the rest of my team collection. But in doubt I wouldn't harm to have some extra cash for an unexpected transfer. New team would be:

        Vorm, Krul,
Evans, Simpson, Taylor (Swa), Richards, Enrique
        Bale, Sessegon, Silva, Walters, Dempsey
        Adebayor, Yakubu, RVP

    For the attention of FB:

with regards to Silva ownership - it's meant to read:

Like yourself, I had Silva only for a few gameweeks...

Hope that is now clearer 😉

Not to worry Tina. United to your rescue!

SAF has always supported managers in distress - Bruce, Kean and now Rudi. Wait a minute, there's another manager in distress - it's Owen Coyle! 😉

My season pretty much broke before it had ever really started. No Rooney or Aguero for the first few weeks was a right kick in the cock.

Don't cry for me Argentina Christina.

I'm currently picking Studge in my W/C but have the moolah for Rooney - would going for Studge and keeping a few quid in my back pocket for future transfers be madness?

Thank you! We may both be horribly wrong but I was hoping for that answer. Unless i hear anything to persuasive the other way i'll pick Studge and forget about it.

It's a good transfer - Studge is fit this week and he's in my team as a result. I'll swap Ba back in when he's back from ACON.

dubious goal panel rulings are up on premier league site to cover 12 Oct - 21 Dec. Will this affect points in FPL game? Some goalscorers have been overturned, etc.
I imagine that it will not. Anyone know?
