The previous calendar year was a topsy-turvy one for Stephane Sessegnon. A marquee signing from Paris St. Germain in last January’s transfer window, many backed the diminutive midfield dynamo to steal the show in a Sunderland side hardly famed for its flair.

Sessegnon’s difficulties in adjusting to life in England were initially reflected in Steve Bruce’s inability to find a settled home for him in a combative midfield but, when a late-season injury crisis saw the Benin international reborn as a stand-in striker, a flurry of goals made him a key differential as mini-league races reached a crescendo. Carrying that form into a devastating pre-season, hopes were high for a profitable campaign.

By October, that optimism seemed a distant memory; a single assist from the first eight gameweeks brought an average of just 2.6 points per game and saw Sessegnon’s price in free fall. Two double-digit gameweeks were followed by a further prolonged period in the doldrums and, in a game in which consistency is a prized asset, a bulimic tendency towards feast and famine rarely fosters a loyal following. Fierce competition amongst the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) mid-priced midfielders saw Sessegnon fall by the wayside as players with the security of dead-ball duties made the early running.

Martin O’Neill’s arrival on Wearside has breathed new life into Sunderland’s stuttering season and Sessegnon has been a notable beneficiary of the growing confidence at the Stadium of Light. A total of 31 points in his last four games have seen him eclipse Seb Larsson as the side’s top FPL point-scorer. Coupled with this upturn in form is the news that O’Neill is determined to rebuff a growing crowd of suitors and has publicly challenged Sessegnon to become “a proper centre forward”. With Connor Wickham still finding his feet in the Premier League and Nicklas Bendtner cheerfully maintaining his hard-won reputation for unreliability, Sessegnon may get the chance to rise to that challenge with home games against Norwich and Swansea just around the corner.

As wildcard season gathers pace and Fantasy managers look to wring every last penny out of their squads, Sessegnon’s 6.5 price represents a significant saving over Larsson’s 6.9, and with budget upstart James McClean yet to firmly establish himself in the side, Sessegnon looks set to be the prime target for those looking to capitalise on two tempting home ties for a buoyant Black Cats.

Leaning towards the second option atm, aguero never does anything away and he might be rested v weak oposition having played 90 minutes twice in a row in the cups.

Tempted to get rid of Nani tbh. Valencia, if he plays 90 minutes and doesn't get injured or anything, should rape Paul Robinson. And no RVP because 99% of people in my league have Reliant Robin. I need a differential to catch up.

      Cabaye is just ok.

Gerrard injury prone and not worth the price.
Sturridge is a good pick if he's fit enough.

I don't know who you have already...

You could try a combination from:
Bale, Valencia, Sessegnon, Walters, Larsson, Dempsey, Ben Arfa, McClean.

I think Rooney is a must have for the next few weeks (then maybe you can downgrade him).

              So RvP, Aguero, Rooney.

Replace Gerrard, Cabaye and Moses with cheaper options from above.

Moses to McClean. Cabaye to Ben Arfa or Sessegnon or Walters. Gerrard to the best you can afford with what's left.

Also it might worth freeing up funds by downgrading Nani to Valencia, but I'll leave that decision to you because Nani could do very well (or not).

Has Clark been playing in CM recently? I'm thinking he maybe being wasted on my bench.

Not based on anything but my own opinion and never claimed otherwise! It's just a RMT trying to go the extra mile, will have to decide if it's worth it 😉

Raylor 4 because he's not nailed on anymore with Santon and I don't see him reliably OOP in mid with the mids New have including Barfa who may be used on wing according to Pardew. May well not get 60.

Best 6 because he's unproven, not even guaranteed to start with Ameobi as competition and not remotely as dangerous as Ba...

Wasn't claiming anything, was just intrigued to know what you based them on, so thanks for the helpful opinion on the ratings, nice little system!

Regarding R.Taylor, you may want to give him a little more atm with Simpson apparently being ruled out. I do worry about the rotation of them two & Santon... I suppose Williamson is always an option. Best is definitely a risk, I admit, Pardew went with him on the weekend so hopefully that will continue whilst Ba is away!

Fair play, ta, I guess Raylor is right footed and could switch to RB in Simpson's place although isn't Simpson still doubtful? That's what I understood. Williamson is the safe option and I would take that.

Best is okay but I had him earlier in the season and struggled to get goals - could change down the line.

    Defensive transfer time?

    Ruddy (Sorensen)

    NTaylor Simpson Assou-Ekotto (Caulker, Kompany)

I play in a monthly H2H for high end brews and got a good jump on the pack(23 pts) as I brought in Benoit for PJones to thier VDV's and Modric's. I'm OK with running NTaylor this week as all the top teams have Vorm and should start him.

Thinking Ruddy to Krul to get that precious 0.1 mil out of Ruddy. Not sure how I feel about doubbling up on a Tiote-less Newcastle. Guzan woth a one week punt? Rest of team is OK and can easily field 11 solid guys to keep lead in place. Other Keeprs to look at for this week? Maybe JEvans, did I just type that, in for NTaylor?

Thanks if you took the time to read and repsond.

Why are people in such a rush to get rid of Spurs players after Wolves? If you can afford to bench defs v City (every chance for mids and fwds to get something) they then have Wigan at home. Nice. This probably works best for those playing WC in wk 23 ready for wk 24.

    FFS wisdom required please.

have somehow ended up with Westwood and Ruddy as my keepers. Should i:
    a) Play Ruddy, and do Drenthe -> Cabaye for free
    b) Do Westwood -> Krul, and Drenthe -> Ben Arfa (-4 points) [not enough cash to get Cabaye with this option]
    c) leave everything, play Drenthe and keep 2 free trades?

Don't really see the point of Drenthe to HBA - you're swapping one very talented player not trusted by his manager for another.

    Simpson Evans Jones
    Walters Bale Silva Nani
    RVP Sturridge Adebayor

    Bench: Vorm McAculey Moses Brown
