Peter Odemwingie made an instant impact in his first Premier League campaign, going on to notch 15 goals and 9 assists – an outstanding return for a player commanding a modest Fantasy price tag. We went into this season expecting more from Odemwingie under the stewardship of Roy Hodgson, but, up until December, the Nigerian has failed to live up to last term’s outstanding displays.

Odemwingie had looked a shadow of his former self, registering just a couple goals in the first 13 gameweeks amidst claims of injury and fatigue. After public criticism from Hodgson, however, the striker’s returns have shown definite improvement, with 2 goals and 3 assists between gameweeks 14-17 indicative of a step up in performance. Granted, the Baggies have failed to find the net in their last three outings but Odemwingie is undoubtedly back on the radar.

Odemwingie certainly needs to step up. Strike partner Shane Long has notched just once in his last seven appearances, having started his career at the Hawthorns in explosive style. Long is also currently nursing a back injury which could yet keep him out of the weekend clash with Norwich.

Although a more expensive Fantasy option than Long, there is good reason to believe that Odemwingie, with injuries now firmly behind him, has rediscovered his appetite. Despite missing a fair amount of action, his Fantasy contribution has already surpassed Long, with 4 goals and 3 assists compared with the Irishman’s 5 goals. Since the start of December, Odemwingie has outscored Long by 31 points to 18, an indication of their respective displays.

Chris Brunt’s absence with a fractured ankle is also significant to Odemwingie’s fortunes. While the Baggies will doubtless miss his creativity from midfield, Odemwingie seems set to be established as penalty taker during Brunt’s absence and he may even play a major role from direct free-kicks.

West Brom now appear to have favourable fixtures right up to the start of March. Having drawn a blank against a resilient Everton, home games against Norwich, Swansea and Sunderland afford Odemwingie the platform for a strong start to the New Year. It’s also worth noting that West Brom have scored 12 goals away from home this season, five more than at the Hawthorns.

With Demba Ba now departed for the African Cup of Nations with Senegal, his owners will be shopping for a mid-price replacement and Odemwingie, priced at 7.2, could well fit the bill. With Nigeria failing to qualify for the tournament, he will remain in England, sizing up Norwich this weekend, with our FPL January wildcards now in play. There’s no doubt Odemwingie has the pedigree to produce and, with a Fantasy ownership of just 3%, could well emerge as a hugely effective differential for those bold enough to take the punt.

so it's stupid to go with 3 big strikers?

i always can look at cheap options as The yak,strurridge.... and then upgrade MF

but i dont have idea who should i kick out from my team in that case

RVP or Aguero? cause Rooney staying for sure

It is not stupid but I think you need a team value of 110-111 to not completely destroy the rest of your team.

Keep Rooney for now and change to Augero in GW24. You can try Odemwingie / Yak for now and chance him for Ba when he comes back.

I'm on my WC and I stupidly dropped Sess for McClean earlier today to get Rooney in for Aguero. Now I'm thinking of getting him back. I had bought him last week for 6.4. So should I keep McClean like an obstinate git or accept that I've stupidly lost 0.1 on Sess and get him back?

Why would you have wanted Rooney in? Aguero is in slightly better form and has better fixtures and is less expensive. And why get rid of sess? Very silly transfers IMO

        Afternoon all.

My team is f**cked up in a few positions. Ive no transfers left this week eitehr, so I am tempted to play the WC.
Looking at the team below, would you play 4-3-3 as it stands this week, or play the WC? Who would ypu feel is an essential addition to this team?

        Vorm (Ruddy)
        Enrique, Jones, Simpson, BAE (Gabbidon)
        Nani, Mata, Bale, (Drenthe,Ferguson)
        Yak, Adebayor, RVP

        For Simpson owners

He hurt his shoulder in the last game. Could be a doubt. Nothing from Newcastle so far.

But here's what some media are saying.

        BAD NEWS FOR EVANS OWNERS?

1.04pm: Manchester United have worries over Phil Jones, Chris Smalling and Anderson ahead of the visit of Bolton. Paul Scholes appears to have been missed off the list I've ctrl cee and veed below, but I assume he should be there.

Provisional squad: De Gea, Lindegaard, Amos, Rafael, Ferdinand, Evra, Jones, Fryers, Cole, Carrick, Valencia, Park, Anderson, Nani, Giggs, Rooney, Welbeck, Berbatov, Hernandez, Diouf, Keane.

That has to be bollocks. Evans on bench last game and no mention of him being injured. He'd be in the squad at least. I think the fact the guy has missed scholes as well makes me think he's just sat there and made it up off the top of his head.

I'd say Cabaye is 100% to play, Ben Arfa 90-95% but Ben Arfa's scoring potential a lot greater. I'd go with him, especially if it's just a 1 or 2 week punt.

do ye reckon option 1 will score 4 more points than 2?

        1) roo valencia santon

        2) ade silva jones

i currently have 2 could get option 1 for a hit before i w/c next gw..silva could be on bench jones is slight doubt and ade playing wolves or not is just soul destroying at times

This is what I thought too. Santon is classy player and SHOULD keep his place now I hope. He has way more attacking threat and bonus potential than Williamson.

I want to get Ben Arfa too but I currently have McClean and can't find the extra money to upgrade at the moment...

Spurs got Man City away in gw21 though while Liverpool have Bolton and Wolves away which are both strong CS odds I would say. I've had Enrique from the start and his current selling value is 5.5, so I could do a straight swap?

No, the best combo is now Krul and Mignolet (switching for Sorensen at times for optimum results).

Vorm's cleansheet potential is becoming very slight.
