League leaders Manchester City travel to the DW Stadium tonight, looking to put breathing space between themselves and their city rivals. The Dugout Discussion chatroom opens in anticipation of the conclusion of Gameweek 21.

Both team sheets have been handed in, and here is how they line-up on this horribly cold Monday night…

Wigan XI: Al Habsi, Stam, Alcaraz, Caldwell, Figueroa, McArthur, McCarthy, Gomez, Crusat, Rodallega, Moses.

Man City XI: Hart, Zabaleta, Savic, Lescott, Clichy, Milner, Barry, Nasri, Silva, Aguero, Dzeko.

Roberto Martinez continues with Albert Crusat, who manages to shake off a slight back injury to start tonight. James McArthur begins for only the third time in the league this season, replacing Mohamed Diame who is unavailable thanks to the African Cup of Nations.

Manchester City are forced to partner Jolean Lescott and Stefan Savic at centre-back once more, despite a very ropey performance in their defeat to United last weekend. Elsewhere, David Silva is restored to the starting line-up, Sergio Aguero partners Edin Dzeko up front, and Pablo Zabaleta replaces Micah Richards.

Follow all the action in our Dugout Discussion chatroom, which can be accessed right here.

The Press Association would appear to have Rooney in their team. Ludicrous, but hey, dem's the breaks. Remember I got a goal from Lamp's last season when the ball hadn't crossed the line. More importantly nobody above me in my league has Rooney so I don't really care 😉

Can't decide who to have as my 5th Defender on my WC, I'm currently looking at:

    Krul, Stockdale/Schwarzer
Santon, Senderos, Vermaelen (or other expensive defender), Cahill, 4.9m.

Don't know whether to triple on Newcastle, I could triple on Fulham, I could have Kompany and ShawX instead of Verm. Or I could just go for someone dirt cheap!

    What would you do?

Hey guys, have played around with my WC team but keen to hear your opinions:

    Krul, Vorm
    Enrique, Skrtl, Raylor, Simpson, Caulker
    Silva, Bale, Sess, Walters, Dyer
    Rooney, RVP, Sturridge.

Planning on bringing in Aguero/Kompany for Rooney/Skrtl in GW24.

Personally I think people doubling up on Newcastle defenders will come unstuck. Newcastle played QPR at a good time one or two more weeks and Sparky would of had them playing how he wanted. They will start leaking a goal or two for me. I would personally stick with Rtaylor and look at someone else. Your shout though so good luck 🙂

Yep. Was relucltant to do so but I looked through the top 30 or so teams and many of the ones who had just WC'd had loaded up NC defense. I'm hoping to leech of their superior FPL points predictions.. fixtures seem to agree but only time will tell...

agree, I plan on lightening the load with Simpson first. But to sit back and wait for an implosion by newcastle is equally as foolish. They are a steady squad and have kept the performances consistent. You know what kind of effort as well as performance you will get out of them...more importantly, regardless of their shape which has only benefited Fantasy owners (See the Santon/Raylor saga/bitterness).

Yep agree NC are looking a bit shakey without Tiote, but planning on playing Skrtl, Enrique, Raylor for the next 2 GW, Simpson on the bench. I got Simpson for 4.0 so reluctant to get rid of him. although I might bring Cahill in for Raylor depending on how Chelsea go.

Also doubling (and tripiling [Stina..]) with the traditional suspects/defensive stalwarts (Stoke, Fulham) has proven problematic, now Newcastle and Swansea are the fashion...it's like you're just now buying Google otherwise...

Im thinking helguson for those 3 gameweeks, then back to yakubu, got a better chance of scoring than Fletcher i reckon, wolves got villa, pool and QPR, wont b easy to score in the first 2, yet everyone seems to have jumped on board

I think the appeal with him is that he can score against any team - look at his last few gameweeks. I'm going for Sturridge myself but I think Fletcher is your best option for 6.0 or less.

The thing is, Helguson is 34 and hasn't been playing consistently because of his fitness levels. Yes he's a proven goalscorer this year, but that little bit of a risk for a 3 gameweek period puts me off. It's a waste unless you're sure he'll play all 3

    Richards, Baines, Raylor (Simpson, Shotton)

Bale, Drenthe, Mata, VDV (Ben Afra)

    Sturridge, Anichebe, RVP

Armband on either: Sturridge, Mata, Baines...hell maybe even a Victor Anichebe armband punt. It's that time of the year for Everton.

playing for money i study it alot as have made £800 in total the last 2 seasons and in the end you'll always beat the casual player if u do study it

with regards to strategy, it depends if you want to gamble for a high finish or just stay steady. the last 2 years ive been around 25-50k at xmas then start taking gambles (ie trebling up at the back) n its worked well last 2 seasons, it could go the other way but as long as its a calculated gamble it will usually pay off

Am I silly for thinking of doing:

    Adebayor > Morrison
    Caulker > Cahill
    Senderos > Enrique

I've had Adebayor since early on so would be selling at 0.7 below what his current price in so probably wouldn't be able to get him back in.

    Current team is:

    Vorm | Ruddy
    Richards | R.Taylor | Senderos | Caulker | Kilgallon
    Valencia | Silva | Gerrard | McClean | Bale
Van Persie | Sturridge | Adebayor

    New team would be:

    Vorm | Ruddy
    Richards | R.Taylor | Cahill | Enrique | Kilgallon
    Valencia | Silva | Gerrard | McClean | Bale
Van Persie | Sturridge | Morrison

So with City playing Spurs and Arsenal playing Utd are people worried they may have a low scoreing week? These so called big games normally have a habit of ending low scoreing...or is it just part of your master plan? 😀

Very much the case and also considering all four teams are slightly underachieving at the moment.

Most likely points will be from Penalties or set pieces I reckon.

Nani, Rooney, RVP, Bale, VDV, Silva, Aguero are the obvious candidates for some points but not likely to be big..

Captain may be worth having a punt on a player like Sess (H swa) or Walters/Laarson (H wba)

          YES.

Only touching RVP in the first match-up, Man U will be beaten (even fancy AOC or Henry). And have Micah, Bale and VDV in the other. I can imagine it will be a nerve wracking side of the field for the owner that has BAE, Richards and Bale.

looks good! I would stay way from cahill atm. since we don't know if AVB will start him... also get kompany instead of richards! the man is a beast.
As to walters, I have the same midfield as you, but will give Moses a punt. He plays good, and his fixtures are great... He also leaves you with extra money you can spend elsewhere (like cahill>richards)

Why do you want to drop Senderos when Fulham are playing at home, when they have a proven CS-potential? On the other side, there is less chance Best will score away from home to a tougher opponent than QPR.

Replacing Ade is a good decision though, to avoid price changes and to have a reliable starter/sub this GW.

My brother got him in 2 weeks ago, pretty much based on the due theory haha, not sure if that has reset now or not...might be worth a gamble. Expect Keane to get some minutes soon, not sure who is going to suffer from that.

I would expect it to be either Nzogbia, Clark or Ireland to suffer from Keane getting minutes. Depending on how he wants to set the team up.

nice, that would be right down his his pigpen, junkyard, no-nonsense dirtdog Ole Dirty Bastard-game alley...

It would surprise me if he pulled 5 goals out of his ass against wolves & QPR

No too dear.too inconsistent, blame MacLeish too negative - playing an old fashioned game trying to win 1-0 , it's so predictable and they just can't defend, I mean warnock-is he even related to a footballer ?
