Eight victories and a qualifying round later and here we are, the Semi-Finals of the Paddy Power Cup V. A win at this penultimate stage guarantees a prize and, of course, a place in the Gameweek 23 Grand Final. Without further ado, the Semi-Final draw…

sleepingmaster Vs. ChickenDevil

The underdog here is 73,327th in the world sleepingmaster, who is the lowest ranked of all four Semi-Finalists. Over 65,000 places better off than him is his opponent, ChickenDevil. The difference in rank is reflected in both teams squad value. Whilst the top 10,000 ChickenDevil has coffers of over £110m to call upon, sleepingmaster is a good three million worse off. And with funds tied up with Wayne Rooney away at the Emirates, sleepingmaster needs some serious performances from the likes of Stephane Sessegnon.

Raasclart Vs. Funkyav

The second tie pits last week’s top-scorer, Raasclart, against the highest-ranked Fantasy manager, Funkyav. With Funkyav’s Wayne Rooney facing a trip to the Emirates and Raasclart’s Emmanuel Adebayor ruled out of the Gameweek, this one could come down to how those mid-priced options fair. Raasclart’s move in the transfer market for his an Adebayor replacement may also pave the way into the final.

Here’s a reminder of exactly what’s at stake…

  • Winner – £150 worth of free bets courtesy of sponsors Paddy Power. £50 Amazon Voucher
  • Runner-up – £75 worth of free bets courtesy of sponsors Paddy Power. £30 Amazon Voucher
  • 3rd Place – £50 worth of free bets courtesy of sponsors Paddy Power. £20 Amazon Voucher

Good luck for each of our Semi-Finalists going into Gameweek 22. Next week I’ll bring you the results, a subsequent preview of the Grand Final, and news of the next Fantasy Football Scout competition.

Dempsey doesn't return enough to justify 8.5m in my opinion and Bale's little spurt is over for now, especially with the difficult fixtures ahead.

Need to transfer out rooney for this weekend, As a gooner just cant bare keeping him in and wanting him to score points and not sure it'll be much consolation if we lose with him scoring.

So, who shall i transfer him to:

    a) Aguero
    b) Torres

😆 Aguero is certainly the sensible choice, but I really fancy a one/two week punt on Torres. Depends if you've WC'ed yet I suppose though, as you'd want Aguero long term.

I'm a fully paid up member of the pick Torres club

I saw him as Samson, when he had the long flowing blond locks he was unstoppable, then he cut it short and dyed it and it all went wrong. Now he's gone back it won't be long until his strength returns.

I tend to agree, but once his powers are restored will he lose the plot and tear down stamford bridge killing all spectators there to see it, as samson did?

I have wildcarded, i planned to transfer Rooney > Aguero and back depending on fixtures but really like the idea of a 2 week punt on torres.

OK, on wildcard this week and want to talk Spurs.

I bought Adebayor for 8.0 and sold him yesterday for 8.7m
I bought BAE for 5.1 and will sell him for 5.4m today
I have Bale who I bought for 8.9 and could sell tomorrow for 9.2m (assuming he rises tonight)

I had always planned to keep Bale, but I'm sorely tempted to sell him and bring in VDV for 9.9m

My logic? Well 41.5% have Bale compared to VDV's 9.4%
I'm also a big believer of the 'he's due' theory and while Bale has already outperformed previous season's stats, VDV hasn't reached his potential yet.

    Am I crazy?

I still think VDV will be on penalties, so it could be a good move. But Bale is in top form and it's hard to go against that, even more so as he's £0.7M cheaper than VDV with you there.

Bale's previous seasons stats are irrelevant, he has played LB in previous seasons and last season when he was at left midfield he didn't roam around and play off the striker like he is this season.

      Will it not be:

      Ramires, Essien, Lampard
      Mata, Sturridge
      Torres

Would be very surprised if Essien starts. After so long out, I'd expect a run of sub appearances.

3 from Romeu, Ramires, Lampard and Meireles.

Yeah, the predictions are actually irrelevant as I think Essien will be benched too.

    Wildcard played

How does this look for the weekend, subs/captain choices etc

    Vorm
    Huth, Simpson, Cahill
    Silva, Bale, Sess (vc), Dempsey
    Aguero (c), Van Persie, Fletcher

    Mingolet, Dyer, Senderos, Kompany

First time i have had Aguero in my squad all season so tempted to go with him as captain for some reason, can see that being quite an open and attacking game.

Swap keepers around. I'd be surprised if Cahill goes straight in, and I'd be worried about an introductory 10 mins cameo. Perhaps start Senderos as he has a decent fixture?

Yeh a 10 minute cameo did cross my mind. You could be right.

Possibly a good shout re keeps too, but find Vorm hard to drop when he has done so well for me.

      Nice team. Nice team indeed.
The Fulham/newcastle game is difficult to call though, so that Simpson/Senderos choice is going to be easy to get wrong this week. Good options going forward though.

Thanks. Yeh, again i find Simpson hard to drop as he has been in my team from the start and been great for the price.

    Hi guys!

What your thougts on R.Taylor - is he going to play in midfield and is he worth a punt for a while.
In my wc team he is pretty much battling for a place with Senderos/Kelly.

    Senderos / Kelly next four;
    NEW, WBA, mc, STO
He would be benched for gw24 and play Simpson instead

    R.Taylor
    ful, bla, ASV, tot
    Plays all, Simpson benched gw24.

Fixturewise there's no doubt, but is that attacking threat enough to give him a place in my team?

Others are Richards, Enrigue, Huth, Simpson,

Huth is gonna start banging in the goals soon. He's averaging at least 2 attempts a game recently.

no . keep Valencia save your tranfer..dont fear sess so much. Swansea are not going to lay down they a well organised team , besides you have mclean so that would render him pointless

Sess or McClean, not both, and especially not in place of Valencia.

People who are (C) Sturridge and Lampard (not to talk about Torres but that´s off topic), aren´t you afraid that they may not start and have a cameo giving you a 2 pts. captain?

😆 It can really happen, I guess I wouldn´t have the guts to captain a Chelsea player this week.

Who agrees with me that Micah Richards is a far better player than Glen Johnson? If Capello leaves Richards out of the next squad and picks Johnson ahead of him he needs a slap.

ok thoughts on what to do this week, my injury crisis seems to be easing, Jones is fit, McAuley likely to be fit, just leaves Brown. team is

    Vorm

    Brown, Jones, Raylor

    Bale, Silva, Nani, Donovan

    RvP, Odem, Sturridge

    Friedel, McAuley, BAE, Tiote

1 FT and 0.9 in bank

    Options are

    1) sell Brown
    2) sell Odem
    3) sell Sturridge
    4) sell Tiote

    and should I play Friedel?
