Last week’s posse of bets may have failed to bring home the bacon, but with a fresh note clutched in our determined mitt, we look to pitch our Fantasy thinking against Paddy Power’s odds, in another Flutter.

After a spell of defeats in the run up to Christmas, Stoke have slipped up just once in nine games, and that was a “gimme” at the hands of league leaders City. Although a secreted towel and a long-throw still play a major part in Tony Pulis’ tactics, teams have found ways to counter these methods, forcing Stoke to – whisper it – find quality on the ground. Jon Walters has been at the heart of this, always willing to push up to support the lofty talents of Peter Crouch, his prowess from the spot have seen Walters simmer as a strong mid-price midfield option all season. In the Picks again this week, Paddy post 4/1 on Walters to score and Stoke to gain a cleansheet against visiting West Brom, and thus our weeks tenner is broken, with £2 laid down.

Having missed five games this season, Steven Fletcher has had to work hard to rack up his impressive 81 Fantasy Premier League tally. Fletcher undoubtedly offers exceptional value for FPL managers and punters alike, and Paddy go 100/30 for him to score and Wolves to win against rivals Villa this weekend. Given that Fletcher has proved deadly in the air this term, we prefer to take a punt on him to score with a header at 8/1 for a quid.

Stephane Sessegnon may well be the key to Martin O’Neil’s Sunderland revival. To be fair to Steve Bruce, Sessegnon was performing well enough before he was turfed out, but there’s something about O’Neill that’s squeezed an end product from the lively attacker, to accompany the pace and trickery. Subject to heavy transfer activity in recent weeks, Fantasy managers will expect Sessegnon to feature with either goal or assist as Swansea visit the Black Cats, even though the visitors have put together a strong run of form of late. A Sessegnon goal and assist double at 10/1 is worth a £2 stake.

Our final market revolves around the glitzy world of celebrity Twitterer Joey Barton. The QPR skipper is not quite the Punch and Judy villain that Mario Balotelli has become, but nonetheless, he’s a great entertainer with his antics and indiscretions on and off the pitch. Paddy are tempting us in here with a “will he, won’t he” bet. Barton to avoid a yellow card and get a goal against Wigan is at 5/1. Since he’s racked up 8 cards in 18 games, this would normally be too much of a risk, but new managers can often bring out the best in players and change any leopard’s spots. We may even see Adel Taarabt’s ego humbled with Mark Hughes’ arrival – then again. If you want to firmly back a QPR revival under Hughes, Paddy are offing 14/1 on Barton to score and Rangers to earn the win against the visiting Latics. That’s well worth a sniff and earns our final stake slice.

Money Back Special

Paddy fast forward to Sunday’s big encounters to offer us a pair of Money Back Specials. If four or more goals are scored in City’s clash with Spurs they are refunding all losing first /last goalscorer, correct score and scorecast singles on that match. They’re taking the same stance on the Arsenal vs United clash at the Emirates, so if Wayne Rooney and Robin Van Persie let loose, you could be line for a refund on your punt.

Register and Bet £10 And Get £20 Free

If you’re new to this betting lark and new to Paddy Power then you can take up any of these odds and offers and get yourself a bonus. You can sign up via this site and get a free £20 when you register an account and bet a tenner.

Finally of course, we should state that all these offers are only available to those aged 18 and over and are subject to Paddy Power’s terms and conditions. Also, if you’re going to bet, always gamble responsibly.

Hey, folks. My defence is pretty rubbish whoever I bench this week. I have already used my FT to do Yakubu OUT, Fletcher IN. However, I'm now wondering whether it would be worth taking a 4 point hit and upgrading somewhere in defence? I have 4.9, so plenty of room to get someone decent in? If so, who would you guys recommend removing and looking at bringing in?

    My team is:

    Krul
    Simpson, Evans, Enrique
    Sessegnon, Dempsey, Valencia, Bale
    Sturridge, Fletcher, RVP

    Subs: Vorm, Moses, McAuley, Walker

Thank you in advance for any replies.

Thats a lot of cash to have lying around.

I'd do McAuley>Huth but the trouble with that is thst Huth will have to keep a cleanie to make it worthwile so maybe just leave as is

A stoke defender should do you well in the next 6 weeks, esp if you have Enrique, Walker and Evans who all have awful fixtures. Depending on how much cash you'd stand to lose, I'd consider getting rid of 1 of them, probably Jevans.

He nailed on for a team who have tightened up recently and have some decent fixtures ahead (Next week aside of course). He's a threat on corners and set-pieces and is reasonably priced.

    Morning lads

My wildcard masterpiece just got wilder, and more masterful. How about this?

    Sorenson, Lindergaard
    Raylor, Santon, Haangerland, Senderos, Shawcross
    Silva, Bale, Dempsey, Sessegnon, Walters
    RVP, Torres, Best

Have enough left over to get in aguero for Torres if the punt doesn't work out
A couple of moves will get Ba in for Best when he comes home.

    What do yous reckon?

Nicely done. I think the bench will be vital in the next 6 gw's and yours is sound.

BIG punt on strikers, but a great escape plan. I was tempted by a Torres or Rooney punt but I haven't got the cojones to go through with it. And I'm having to bench Bale/Dempsey/Valencia, which just feels wrong.

I just realised my wildcard plan wasn't as good as I thought....

Your front 8 seems too strong !!

Mainly because you will be forced to bench one each week . I would lose one of those mids and replace by a player costing less than 5 and use xtra money on defence

But thats just me , others might use the extra to upgrade sturridge

I hear rumours that after fulhams shocking display last week Kelly may soon be back on the bench

yeah heard that advice before. who to drop of walters and sess? could bring in moses or mclean instead. but after last gw a weak bench killed me big time. spend more on senderos then?

I was in a similar position to you (had same front 8 except Roon for Aguero) and didnt want to drop any of my MF so I dropped Studge for Morison (consistent and no quarms dropping him) and upgraded my DF. Hopefully Studge will start on the bench and I will feel vindicated.

          Hope that helps

Absolutely BAE to Huth. Not sure why he's even still there in your WC team 😉

I like that front 8 - in fact I have it. I'm benching Dempsey or Bale (gulp!) this week. The underperformer gets shifted in a couple of weeks back to a cheapie. this means Walters better score if he wants to remain in Team Hole.

Any Chelsea fans know if Bosingwa is going to start today against Norwich, I know Ivanovic is fit, but is he certain to start?
I believe AVB will take note of Norwich's aerial prowess and would want to start Ivanovic ahead of Bosingwa.

If he does not start, who is a suitable replacement for 2 games. I have .3 in the bank and 1 FT. I am thinking either a Fulham or Sunderland defender

From now until the end of the season I'd say Aguero but for short-term Rooney. I feel he's about to go into one of his runs but it won't last forever. Aguero will consistently score (mostly at home) from now until the end of the season.

Torres never from this list 🙂

Well your defense is eating up too much funds imo. You can afford only 1 big def + 1 big GK, not Huth. If youfancy Huth's chances, I'd downgrade Hart > Schwarzer/Linde Gas.

Then upgrade Sess to Valencia/Bale & stick McClean in for Gylfi.

Yea but either way he's a gamble at this point.

Britton is nailed-on. Allen is so hard to displace in this form. Agustien is the only one who could be subjected to rotation. And there's McEachran, Gower waiting as well.
