Jamie O’Hara is set to remain sidelined for another fortnight for Wolves. Taye Taiwo arrives at QPR from Milan on a loan deal to bolster Mark Hughes’ back line, Peter Crouch escapes FA punishment, while Norwich snap up Leeds skipper Jonny Howson:

Alex McLeish received an injury boost this morning with news that three of his first-team squad could return for the weekend FA Cup clash against Arsenal. Stephen Ireland, Gabby Agbonlahor and Emile Heskey are on course to recover from their respective hamstring, illness and Achilles problems in time for the Gunners showdown. Charles N’Zogbia is still expected to remain sidelined due to a heel problem, while Chris Herd could return from an ankle injury in a couple of weeks, having been missing since gameweek 16.

Norwich completed the signing of Leeds midfielder Jonny Howson for an undisclosed amount yesterday. With their skipper out of contract at the end of the season, Leeds have “reluctantly” accepted the Canaries offer, with Howson arriving at Carrow Road on a three-and-a-half year deal. The Norwich midfield has been something of a conundrum for Fantasy managers this season, with rotation meaning seven players have managed 11 or more league starts, though Paul Lamber clearly has high hopes for Howson, saying:

I think he can add goals to our midfield which I think we need and he can do that. He’ll get better as a player the higher the level he goes up. If he does that and everything goes well, he’ll be a great player for us.

Reports this morning suggest Chelsea are close to completing the signing of Genk’s Kevin de Bruyne. The Belgian champions have confirmed they are in talks over the player’s possible transfer, though it is thought the midfielder may well be loaned back to the club for the rest of the season.

Jamie O’Hara is expected to be sidelined for another fortnight, according to Wolves boss Mick McCarthy. The midfielder’s recovery from a double hernia operation has been slower than the club anticipated, with O’Hara missing the last seven league games. He was expected to be ready by the end of January, but a return for the gameweek 25 home clash with West Brom now looks more likely.

QPR have snapped up Taye Taiwo on loan from Milan until the end of the season. The left-back’s arrival at Loftus Road certainly puts question marks against the likes of Armand Traore and with his renowned set-piece abilities, looks like one to watch ahead of his side’s favourable upcoming run of fixtures (avl, WOL, bla, FUL, EVE, bol) as Mark Hughes looks to build on last week’s win over Wigan.

While Mario Balotelli faces a four-match ban, the FA have been a little more lenient towards Peter Crouch. The Stoke forward has escaped any punishment for his apparent eye-gouge on Jonas Olsson is the Potters’ 2-1 home defeat by West Brom on Saturday. Crouch was set to face a three-game suspension but has been given the all-clear after match ref Anthony Taylor cleared him retrospectively of any misdemeanours.

Bale and Valencia are the standout picks.

      Rooney has little form

Silva will get 5-10, but Bale and Valencia could get more.

Dempsey / Zamora are your differential picks as last week showed.

If you have all of the above though you are probably in for a good week whoever you captain.

See i was thinking captaining rooney to be different because none seem to have faith in him.
Want to catch up in my league 100 points behind the leader and think he going with bale.

No one has faith in him because he keeps getting 2pts. If you want t catch up and your rival is going for Bale then captain Dempsey or Valencia.

out of that lot I'd go Valencia...horrifically consistent at the moment.

Would be nice to see your subs in order to make a full judgement.

GK - Chelsea should score. Who is your other keeper?
Defence are all away but should/could return points.
      Midfield is clearly strong.
Attack is ok, but Welbeck could be rested IMO, Hernandez needs a run, but Welbeck is on a streak...........it's tricky to know for sure, but I reckon SAF will stick with Welbeck.

At least we should know the teams before the GW deadline, so you can alway make a quick change if necessary.

dzeko gets so many chances each game, you feel he's a brace waiting to happen every single match. last 4 gameweeks (since he came back into the side) dzeko has had 17 shots, 2nd highest for a striker is rvp with 10

Exactly, He's a greedy HO!, and 2 away games of next 3 mean he should play as Mancini likes his height for defensive duties.
As AB said, he's a bonanza waiting to happen.

I've seen them here training in Mallorca this week in Son Bibiloni...i would say he needs to not play but then I am prejudiced against the fat one. As hard as they've been going this week I can't see him getting any respectable run in the match. They've been concentrating on possession, pressing and passing combinations...the three don't really scream; 'Frank Lampard'. As a side note, it's my opinion, that training off on the side is almost as bad as not training

haha, in all seriousness Torres appears to be serious player, but mix injury problems, with team change to a team that doesn't fit your style to lack of form; and we get the on-going joke that is his misfortune. I assume loads are dumping Sturridge but from (a non FF analysis) real football perspective he look at his most unselfish, and the ball seemed to move from side-to-side a lot faster. I'm starting to suspect that the benching was mostly to force him into less selfish play. Torres still doesn't get balls at his feet centrally right outside the box, and they still HAVE to experiment with shape variations and start flip-flopping mata. I have a feeling they will put up goals. Mata HAS to be on penos if Frank can't go no?

and he is a midfielder. Incredible scoring record, compare it to Scholes and Gerrard who are lauded as the best of a generation.

The stick that Lampard gets is ridiculous and unwarranted, he is still well worth a place in the Chelsea first XI. I do not see what Meireles does better. I dont really know why the media and fans give him so much stick for both chelsea and england. His record is phenomenal, as is his consistency, maybe it is just jealousy?

I paid 12. for him so i might think twice in your position... but since he hit his purple patch in GW 8 he's had only 4 weeks out of 15 where he's failed to score...

Most peoples 'dream midfield' atm consists of Silva, Bale, Sess, Demps, Valencia...
upfront take your pick... most people seem convinced in imminent returns from Aguero... so it would probably be him + any other 2 you fancy...

            Kompany, Enrique, Caulker, Simpson, Kelly
            Silva, Bale, Valencia, Sessegnon, Dempsey

personally i didnt take all 5 of the 'dream midfield' i left out Valencia cause of United upcoming fixtures and put Barfa there instead...

think you're on the right track though... just needs tweaking..

Nedum Onuoha a CB, a RB or both?

Hopefully will be able to afford taiwo but onuoha at 4.6m is an interesting option

He can play both. With no deal on Alex, Onouha likely to be play CB.

I'm going big Paddy Kenny at 4.4m... rotates great with Mignolet, and I reckon Hughes is seriously sorting that defence out.
