As entry opens for the Members-only Paddy Power Cup VI, we’ve almost reached the final stage of it’s predecessor. Gameweek 22 saw four fantasy managers face off in the Semi-Finals of the Paddy Power Cup V. In case you missed the summary in this week’s ScoutCast, here is how the two ties panned out…

sleepingmaster 48 – 41 ChickenDevil

sleepingmaster advances to the Grand Final after a seven-point win over ChickenDevil. A late fight-back courtesy of Antonio Valencia’s 13-point haul wasn’t enough to close the gap after Stephane Sessegnon and, to a lesser degree, Ciaran Clark’s performances the day before.

Sitting 59,659th in the world, sleepingmaster advances as the underdog, but is safe in the knowledge that he’s already pocketed prizes worth over £100. ChickenDevil will have to settle for a Gameweek 23 3rd-place play-off to bag a prize.

Raasclart 26 – 37 Funkyav

Eleven points was the margin of victory for Funkyav over Raasclart, who has John Ruddy’s unlikely clean sheet against Chelsea to thank. With Funkyav backing a heavy Chelsea win, seeing as his team boasted the likes of Juan Mata and captain Daniel Sturridge, fortune was certainly on his side.

Congratulations to sleepingmaster and Funkyav for reaching the Grand Final! A preview article will follow…

Poor Villa tackles gave away pens for the first and third goals (Bent's was just mindless for the latter), Arsenal used their dominant possession better and got behind the Villa defence more often. Second goal went in off Walcott's face after he cut in from the wing.

    FPL fitness alerts...

RVP played the full 90 against Villa. He's got 72 hours to recover against to play Bolton on Wednesday at 8pm. He then plays Blackburn on Saturday at 1pm - 63 hours! No way is he going to play 90 in both matches IMO.

Similar concerns apply to Walcott who played 80+ minutes today.

Ba is playing for Senegal. Combined with making the journey back from Africa to Newcastle, this virtually extinguishes any hope of him playing on Wednesday against Blackburn.

lols. I played a football match on Thursday for the first time in a while - let's just say I really appreciate what it's like to play a match, all over again. Granted it was 5v5 on astroturf, but it was a 60 minute game and after 20 minutes I was reduced to walking. Had to go in goal for the next 20 minutes, got cramp, had to get it massaged out. Perked up a bit and ran a bit for the last 10 minutes, scored a couple of goals from CM. Unfortunately my legs have been totally cramped up and sore since then and it's Sunday now. Can barely get out of bed lmao.

I played today and am not looking foward to tomorrow. Think my ankle is bust and I can feel my legs dying already.

nobody ever bothers to track the runners at my kick about, so I end up doing a lot of running. Still got a hattrick though, fair to say Kolarov would be proud.

Ouch, you reckon you got an injury? Congrats on the hattrick. I think I might not have warmed up and warmed down properly. Just make sure you get that done proper before the real pain sets in tomorrow...

Haven't even considered painkillers up to now, maybe I should swallow my pride and use them. Generally I only use painkillers when I know what the source of the pain is, and I certainly do in this case...

Ideally, Wenger would want his best player to play the 180 if he's fit.

However, I can see him getting 90 at Bolton and 45 at Blackburn

Yeah you'd think he might be needed more for the away game as Arsenal are better at home. At least, they concede less so they might not have to score more.

Puts a doubt over me captaining him today.

over christmas arsenal played wolves at home, then qpr at home 3 days later, then fulham away 2 days later. rvp played 90 in each. i really don't see an issue here, especially as they have a full week after blackburn until their next game

speculated using logic over that period and it didn't work (even took the armband off rvp for QPR). given that there is more time between games this time around i see no issues, certainly not enough to not captain/bench/sell rvp. the concerns are valid but this next 2 weeks happens about 10 times a season, too hard to guess

Alright, from Wenger's prior behaviour there's no certainty he will be rested...

Just asking for RVP gets one of 'those' injuries again, though. I suppose I'm extra worried this year because we have no one else to count on. Yes, even Thierry...

Djok is too powerful. Back hand is so strong. Nadal is always on the back foot. Nadal really had to work to get winners. French open should be nadals but cant see him win US or wimbledon unless somebody knocks djok out early.

He is okay. Seen him a few times for marseille. Got a powerful left foot. Somebody has to put away his crosses, who will that be? Bothroyd, DJ, Macheda (assume helg is injured). While for free kicks, dont expect many to go in. He doesnt put them over the wall and in the top corner.

    didn't see this post 😳

ok folks here is my team for the week as it stands (not on wc till after)

    Friedel

    BAE, Raylor, Brown

    Bale, Nani, Silva, Donovan

    Odem, RvP, Sturridge

    Vorm, McAuley, Jones, Tiote

0.9 in bank and 2 FTs

Was gonna lose Donovan and Odem this week, but clearly I need to hang onto them and lose Nani (who will fall tonight) and Jones, who is likely to fall soon as any remaining owners like me ditch him

Thoughts on these transfers for a 1 week punt

    Jones ➡ Evra

Nani ➡ Theo/Arteta/Ox or Evra’s best mate, Park.

Would make things interesting! Would even think of selling if he misses his 3 next easy fixtures!

I wouldnt sell, he only cost me 11.9m so I'd lose too much.

seems like the ref saw it, given that it was where the ball was it was hard to miss. i'm not very worried, would seem bizarre for nothing to happen to lescott then rvp get a 3 game ban

This is actually a good time for the top clubs to get players because city arent competing for players this window. And yet nothing.

ah well, so that's about 180mins he's play all tournament then? hopefully the disappointment (they were favourites to make the semis by most accounts) doesn't hit him too hard. imo being back in the premier league will help take his mind off it ASAP

He hasn't been too impressive of late... apart from scoring dodgy pens...
