A couple of spot-kicks from Robin Van Persie helps Arsenal overcome a stubborn Aston Villa. Darren Bent continues his recent good form with another goal at the Emirates, James McClean impresses for Sunderland again, and Fraizer Campbell grabs a goal on his first-team return:

Fraizer Campbell
The former Man United man made an instant impact on his return to first-team action yesterday. Campbell had been sidelined with cruciate ligament damage since August 2010 but found the net within a quarter of an hour of his second-half sub appearance to draw Sunderland level with Middlesboro. With Nicklas Bendtner sidelined with facial injuries, Martin O’Neill had started Connor Wickham alongside Stephane Sessegnon but, after failing to make an impact, Wickham made way for Campbell at the break. O’Neill will no doubt continue to ease the latter back into action, given his length of absence; a sub appearance against Norwich on Wednesday looks more likely than a start.

James McClean
The winger continued his recent run of form with a strong display against Middlesboro. With a goal, assist and eight bonus points in his four starts under O’Neill, McClean is growing in Fantasy ownership by the day; over 9,000 managers have transferred him in this week. Priced at 4.5, he looks more nailed-on as the weeks go by and yesterday saw him offer further example of his ability, as a laid on a superb assist for Campbell’s goal to ensure the visitors were denied victory.

Wes Brown
The centre-half had only just returned to the first-team last week after a groin injury but lasted only an hour at the Stadium of Light. Though Brown landed awkwardly on his shoulder after a challenge, reports indicate he has injured his knee, with The Guardian suggesting suspected ligament damage. If Brown is sidelined for any length of time, the Fantasy prospects of Michael Turner could take a turn for the good. With Titus Bramble also absent due to an Achilles problem, 4.2 Turner looks set to partner John O’Shea in the heart of the back-four. Elsewhere on the injury front yesterday, Lee Cattermole missed out due to a hamstring problem. Craig Gardner was drafted in, sitting alongside David Vaughan in central midfield, with Kieran Richardson fielded at left-back.

Robin Van Persie
The Gunners captain fired his team into the Fifth Round with a brace from the penalty spot as Arsenal completed a memorable second half comeback. Two down at the break, the home side turned the deficit around in a seven-minute period early in the second half, and will arrive at Bolton in buoyant mood on Wednesday after a Van Persie inspired victory. Post-match, Villa boss Alex McLeish called on the FA to investigate the Dutchman, after a stray elbow from Van Persie seems to catch Carlos Cuellar in the face.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain
The youngster started out wide again for Arsenal, deputising in Gervinho’s absence at the African Cup of Nations. Although he didn’t play a part in any of the Gunners’ goals, Oxlade-Chamberlain impressed and was only removed in the eighty-ninth minute for Thierry Henry, as the latter returned from a calf problem. The former Southampton man looks a good bet to continue in the first XI on Wednesday, with Henry likely to be eased further into action at the Reebok.

Bacary Sagna
Similar to Henry, the right-back also made a brief sub appearance, coming on for Theo Walcott as the final whistle approached. Sagna’s return will be a significant boost to Arsene Wenger; he’s been unavailable since breaking an ankle at Spurs back in gameweek 7, more or less a four-month absence, with the likes of Johan Djourou and Francis Coquelin struggling to step up in his absence. Mikel Arteta also climbed off the subs bench to complete his own recovery; the Spaniard had missed his side’s last two league games with a calf problem but came on midway through the second half, as Arsenal’s injury worries start to lessen.

Darren Bent
The Villa forward has been attracting some steady Fantasy interest of late after netting in three of his last four league games. Bent continued his goalscoring form, firing Villa’s second just before the break, as the visitors shocked the Emirates. Although Arsenal ultimately prevailed, Bent’s confidence will be high and with Robbie Keane’s good form continuing – the Irishman provided an assist for the opener- Villa look good for goals ahead of the home clash with QPR on Wednesday.

Martinez says Victor Moses "is not for sale," but isn't ruling out the possibility that Rodallega will leave Wigan in next 24hrs.

Good news. Eyeing up Moses from week 24/25. Some great fixtures, he'd be my ideal 5th midfielder. Fancy a goal or 2 in that run.

This ones for jayzico ( he was getting a panic attack at the thought of flying ) : > What would you do ?

    > This is your Captain speaking
    > Shortly after a British Airways flight had reached its cruising altitude,
    > the captain announced:

    > 'Ladies and Gentlemen, this is your Captain. Welcome to Flight 293,
    > non-stop from London Heathrow to Toronto . The weather ahead is good, so we
    > should have a smooth uneventful flight. So sit back, relax and.....OH, MY
    > GOD !!'

    > Silence followed!

    > Some moments later the captain came back on the intercom.

    > 'Ladies and gentlemen, I'm sorry if I scared you . While I was talking to
    > you, a flight attendant accidentally spilled a cup of hot coffee in my lap.
    > You should see the front of my pants!'

    Morning all
Can I get some help with my defence please. Wanted the Linde/Krul combo but it means I cant have two expensive defenders, who at the moment are Kompany/BAE, with a a planned transfer next week of BAE>Huth. The only way I can keep two expensive defenders is to go Linde/Mignolet, worth the sacrifice of Krul? They dont rotate very well.

I dropped Krul to do the Lind/Mig combo. Some weeks they rotate well and others not so great but it still gives you 2 keepers to choose from every week and you can go with the least difficult fixture. 2 cheap goalies who are number 1 are worthwhile imo

will obviously wait until the line=ups on Tuesday but is my thinking correct on who to transfer out?

    Friedel

    Brown, BAE, Raylor

    Bale, Silva, Nani, Donovan

    Odem, RP, Sturridge

    Vorm, McAuley, Jones, Tiote

    0.9 and 2 fts

Plan is to lose Nani and Jones. Would love to get Bent in for Odem but that means a hit and I'd have 1 game only to recoup it.

Valencia is in wc team so I'm not bringing him in, it's not a punt 😛 Like I said under normal circumstances I wouldn't look at Giggs, and if he doesn't start i will get Ox, but if he does set-pieces and pens and high assist chance (possibly than Valencia vs Stoke who are an aerial team) makes him worth 6.6 for a 1 game punt.

Wanted to keep Rooney for this week (goodness knows he owes me a performance) and then transfer for Aguero - Now it looks like Rooney is a doubt I'd be willing to wait for the team line-ups but Aguero could rise before tomorrow (still 10% off but with all the WCs going about...) and don't want to lose the 0.1 just for the sake of waiting.

Is there a Man Utd press conference today where we might get confirmation on Rooney's status?

Balotelli is back just as City have their two nice home fixtures in a row, so I'd say there's a chance Dzeko won't play those games. So McClean for me

McClean for me. Sunderland's fixtures aren't great so whichever one I got would probably be the forward to be benched each week, so might as well get the cheaper one.

    morning all

have a little problem here, having promised myself at xmas time to stop taking hits everyweek and to take this game a little more seriously i'm faced with this for the coming week.

    bale - doubtful
    rooney - doubtful
brown - doubtful and most probably out
    bendtner - out

would that justify an 8 point hit?

Don't lose Bale. So for a 4 point hit, yes if Brown is going to be out for a while.

I think Bale will play. Swap rooney for someone - he;s probably out.

bench brown and bendtner....ta da, no need for hit.

If Bale's out may do a 4 pt-er...but no way is that an 8 pt situation.

I meant bench him and transfer out another for the extra hit btw.

I guess this week has taught you a painful lesson in early transfers. I did the same the other week when I got Kompany in the night before he got himself suspended for four games.

I'm starting Barfa ...he's fantastic and Blackburn are terrible. He could easily get double figures.

Do Rooney to someone. Nothing wrong with starting HBA and even williamson is a decent 2nd sub. No need to go nuts mate, thats what a bench is for. To cover unexpected omissions. Tis why I die a little bit inside when I see Ferguson in peoples teams lol.

Ok so assuming Rooney is out, I'm looking for a one week attacking punt.

Long term prospect Aguero is terrible away and Everton tend to park their giant buses in such games.

Here's my short list in order
    1. Bent
    2. Zamora
    3. Wellbeck

any thoughts or others I should be considering (I already have RVP and Fletcher)

hmmm, no already played my wildcard...so team and bench in good shape. Feel like being decadent and getting the best striker in for this week.

Dzeko is an option...he is far better at home and pretty much guaranteed to play for the next three games at least.

Plan to get Aguero in next week.

Maybe...and actually this is not a bad thought...just have a dzeko and ageuro slot and alternate each week depending on home and away....now that would be decadent.

Maverick 😀 . But from experience from the past if you are not on WC this one week punt is not always that successful and something else could happen to your team and guess what you are stuck with a player that you don't want. I prefer 4 GW punt or 6 GW punt. Pays off much more often

true....anyone I get in I would have to be prepared to keep for another week or two.

Dzeko fits that bill nicely....actually so does Bent.

Probably rules out Welbeck and definitely berbatov.

Nice team, similar to what I'm looking at for WC.

not sure if kelly will start.. else i'd go for him.. had vorm from the start, and though that aint a reason to keep him, MANU keep cleanies away from home as well as they do at home.. so might as well play lindy almost every week.. so that means i get vorm off the bench if lindy does'nt start for easy home games(de gea).. else i'll be coverin the swans with caulker
