Gameweek 24 continues with two games on show today, and the Dugout Discussion is here to cover them both. We start at The Sports Direct Arena, where Newcastle United welcome back their star striker, Demba Ba, to face Aston Villa. After that, it’s down to Stamford Bridge where the champions, Manchester United, will be looking to close the gap on their City rivals by beating Chelsea. The team sheets for our first game are in, and are as follows…

Newcastle XI: Krul, Simpson, Williamson, Coloccini, Santon, Ryan Taylor, Guthrie, Perch, Gutierrez, Ba, Best.

Villa XI: Given, Hutton, Cuellar, Dunne, Warnock, Ireland, Petrov, Clark, N’Zogbia, Keane, Bent.

As already alluded to, the headline news is that Demba Ba is back for the Magpies and starts. His fellow countryman and new signing, Papiss Demba Cisse, features from the bench.

There’s no surprises in the line-up for the away team, with loan-signing Robbie Keane partnering in-form Darren Bent upfront. Gabriel Agbonlahor misses out through injury, so Charles N’Zogbia continues on the left.

Follow all the action in our Dugout Discussion chatroom, which will remain open until the final whistle goes at Stamford Bridge, and can be accessed right here.

Looks like I'm heading towards the top 50k for the first time ever in 4 years.

Two big differences this season compared to last:

1.) follow this forum. Not the gossip, but the scouts tips.
2.) consistently buy players on rising value, not on my gut feeling.

Since game week 3 I've been buying and selling players to maximise total team value and in overall rank I've only had one red arrow since.

lol, I'm not at all surprised to see that from a United fan tbh. Comes with the culture I guess. You obviously missed my point, which is that if you've ever watched your team get relegated after a season of absolutely dire performances, you'd get a bit of perspective and see that today was not a bad result, especially given the character and spirit of the comeback. Where you from out of interest?

If I saw my team fight back from 3-0 down in a difficult away game I'd be damn proud of them.

I have 5.1m for a midfielder. Who would you bring in?

I know the likes of McClean, Dyer and Sigurdsson may crop up but i don't want to really double up.

I know there is a great following for Moses on here but im not soooo sure.

Is there actually any others that may do a hands turn in terms of points.

AVB.... The last sentence is quite amusing.

"I think it was a game where we were positive. We had the initiative for most of the game and went to 3-0 up. It's difficult to take in. It was a massive recovery for United. We feel it's a win for them because they came back from 3-0 down. It's a disappointment for us. We had it in our hands and let it slip. [There were] some strange decisions today. At Old Trafford, we lost two goals to two offside decisions. These things keep happening. Today, the first one was a penalty, I do agree with that. The second one I don't think so. I don't know if Howard Webb is trying to compensate for something."

Yeah pretty awesome game. But Webb did it again.

TBH I'd have taken a point at the start of the match with all the injuries/missing players. So, not too flustered either. Glad we can score goals again 😉 Btw, Mata is Boss!!!!!!

No chance. He's the centre of most attacks & we should score goals with the Drog back soon as well! Tasty fixtures coming up. I'll definitely consider him for BOL wba STO barring injuries.

Btw I messed up my WC in the last half hr. Brought Verm in, hearing Komp injured. Verm > Komp worth the FT this week in your opinion?

For sure. City defensive coverage is the biggest priority, imo. Surprised you didn't go with Richards.

My friend, you are crazy to consider Mata. When Drog is back, he will be off penalties and direct frees. When Lampard is back, he will be off corners and indirects, too. Before today he went 8 of nine without scoring or assisting. That's a horrible prospect, and you can't just blame that on not having Drog.

And don't get too hing up on good fixtures. Pretty sure FUL ASV wol SUN nor swa are good fixtures too.

              Mata's scores over those 6: 9,2,3,3,3,2

              Don't buy.

Few reasons why I didn't go Richie:
                1) Fancied a Dempsey goal/assist w/o Komp.
                2) MCI-Ful could have been called off.
                3) Fancied Arsenal cleanie.

Obviously it all back-fired. And I ended up with McClean on the bench.

Cheers Newman! Hope Komp can drop in price by the deadline.

Reasons 2 and 2 are quite reasonable. 3 is just wrong. Never, ever fancy an Arsenal cleanie.

Mcclean on the bench has to be a killer, but still a good score, for sure, thanks to Sess. I can't believe Valencia didn't get anything...did he play well at all?

Now that I have Komp, I have to hope he DOES NOT drop, bud.

What about my transfer: give up on Valencia and get sess, or replace Lindegaard? Or, just save the tranny?

Val didn't do much except a few runs. Bos was pretty solid surprisingly. I like Val > Sess, but maybe not this week vs Ars?

I really really think Sess could turn into a must-have now, until Sun keep their form! Never been a big fan of valencia and now I'd be worried he could shift to RB. You don't need to get rid of Linde yet since Vorm's a good option this week. So you could afford to save the transfer. But if you're convinced Ars will concede away, good chance Sess is involved. Then I'd do Val > Sess.

I honestly think Val is a great pick, and will hold is spot even when Nani is back (I think Young will return to the bench) I like him to outscore Sess for the rest of the year, but maybe I'm just wrong about that. Really don't fancy Arsenal's defense, so maybe that's my move, right there. Waiting sounds kinda nice, though, and nor the week after for Val looks like it could be a good fixture.

I just don't know about Sess. Not having him is killing me. I've just been convinced that Val is the better buy, but maybe its time to admit I'm just wrong about that.

                    Cheers.

Concerned at not having Dempsey, not because everyone in my mini league has him but becasue only a select few do, he's a bit of a differential and i am chasing. Valencia is also a differential though. What do you reckon:

A - Valencia, Sess, Morison -> Dempsey, Siggy, Cisse

B - Sess & Morison -> Siggy & Ba. (Keep Valencia and go without Dempsey)
