Gameweek 24 continues with two games on show today, and the Dugout Discussion is here to cover them both. We start at The Sports Direct Arena, where Newcastle United welcome back their star striker, Demba Ba, to face Aston Villa. After that, it’s down to Stamford Bridge where the champions, Manchester United, will be looking to close the gap on their City rivals by beating Chelsea. The team sheets for our first game are in, and are as follows…

Newcastle XI: Krul, Simpson, Williamson, Coloccini, Santon, Ryan Taylor, Guthrie, Perch, Gutierrez, Ba, Best.

Villa XI: Given, Hutton, Cuellar, Dunne, Warnock, Ireland, Petrov, Clark, N’Zogbia, Keane, Bent.

As already alluded to, the headline news is that Demba Ba is back for the Magpies and starts. His fellow countryman and new signing, Papiss Demba Cisse, features from the bench.

There’s no surprises in the line-up for the away team, with loan-signing Robbie Keane partnering in-form Darren Bent upfront. Gabriel Agbonlahor misses out through injury, so Charles N’Zogbia continues on the left.

Follow all the action in our Dugout Discussion chatroom, which will remain open until the final whistle goes at Stamford Bridge, and can be accessed right here.

Does Williamson go up on corner kicks / free kicks? Contemplating a punt on him to score anytime, Villa have conceded 10 from corner kicks this season.

Actually quite the opposite. It was because I was too much of a coward to captain RVP with the rumors of his resting going about. Captain choices and myself dont go too well. Last week it was RVP over Bale. This week its Ba over RVP. Im gonna just go with the riskier choice from now on...

I have 2ft and 1.4m in the bank. Can you please suggest what could be improved?

    Sorensen, al habsi
    Simpson, kompany, caulker, clark, evans
    Silva, sess, bale, barton, dempsey
    Fletcher, rvp, aguero

The question is how important is attacking qpr coverage for bla FUL EVE bol LIV in gw25-29,and villa coverage for wig bla FUL BOL gw26-29?

If defensive is enough for those 2, i can do barton to siggy now and next weekend do fletcher to ba and caulker to taiwo. Covers all bases. Thoughts?

Well the R Taylor Hatred here is because of 3 reasons:-
1>You dont have him in your team and he is constantly hauling loads of points.
2>Most of your opponents & Dead teams have him and bcoz of it you lose your H2H.
3>You cant afford him and think he is an awful footballer.

Because I got rid of him in GW19 for what were IMO reasonable factors at the time - he was being replaced at LB by Santon - and instead of going on the bench he played OOP in midfield... and here's the ultimate insult... often at Ben Arfa's expense

Yeah I really don't know what's up with Aguero away. Sure it will be eventually rectified, especially with Yaya coming back.

I think Valencia and Bale will get decent scores. Santon and Krul in theory, but Villa have got more threatening of late and are scoring a lot.

Guys I NEED some advice please – if you can be bothered reading all of this!
I’ve got 11 in the bank – got rid of Rooney and Torres, and I feel I need to spend it.
The trouble is – I’m forced to get rid of Cisse, and Zamora seems the obvious option given Rangers fixtures.
I’m willing to take a 4 point hit to fix my team up a little bit. Taarabt (given his performance last night, and QPR’s fixtures) and Sigurddson (form and Norwich at home) jump out at me for Ben Arfa.
Having said that, I’d still have 11 in the bank. What are all your thoughts?
    My league situation:
I hold a narrow 20 point lead in my mini-league, but he has a few more people than me to play tonight.
Reiterating that I don’t mind taking a hit – 2nd hates Liverpool and I can’t see him swallowing his pride for Liverpool’s double gameweek – he also does follow football but doesn’t change his team every week – he missed the Tottenham DGW. I’m sure any future DGW’s could work in my favour.

Probably that when we havent got the ball, breaking into a 4-3-3 going forward with Jonas pushed up. The selection of Perch allows Guthrie to get forward more and gives more balance to the side.
        Theoretically of course. 😉

+1. Good to see Newcastle becoming a threat again. Hopefully they keep Ba, unless Arsenal come calling.

He also stated something like "my old team mates used to say i was greedy when it came to goals" which worries me because that might imply assists for Ba rather than goals

I truly hope, because it will confirm me as a genius to my friends, who all doubted me on my Siggurdson and Cisse punts. Siggurdson turned out great!

    Sun Fantasy:

I have absolutely no idea how that scoring system works but the transfers I've made are:
Sturridge,Nani, Saylor to Suarez,Demps & Simps. Hoping Suarez will get a few in the cup games over the next period.
I found myself up on page 1 of the FFS League there at one stage to but alas it was but a whiff , ( you still top of that ttil?).

Still, 4 points ahead of Granville so...
