Papiss Demba Cisse has a debut to remember for Newcastle, joining Demba Ba on the scoresheet to see off Aston Villa. Juan Mata’s return to form is not quite enough to earn Chelsea victory over United, as a Wayne Rooney brace from the penalty spot caps a remarkable Stamford Bridge comeback for the champions:

Demba Ba
Handed a start alongside Leon Best on his return to domestic action, the former West Ham man wasted little time in returning to goalscoring form against Villa. Ba grabbed the opener on the half hour mark to take his goals tally to 16 for the season- he has now netted in each of his last three home games and with Wolves, Sunderland and Norwich visiting Tyneside in the next five gameweeks, looks set to further boost his returns. Ba has already been drafted in by over 160,000 Fantasy managers since last week, with his price already increasing by 0.3.

Papiss Demba Cisse
With Best subbed off injured inside 15 minutes, the new boy was afforded a role alongside his compatriot in the Newcastle attack. Playing as the furthest forward of the front pair, Cisse produced a lively debut, firing off plenty efforts and capped a memorable first showing by bagging a brilliant winner for Alan Pardew’s side. Cisse offers a cheaper alternative to his team mate for Newcastle attacking options; coming in at 7.0 to Ba’s 7.6, and with those aforementioned fixtures looks a strong differential, given his ownership still stands at less than 1%, though Ba’s spot-kick duties may sway things his way.

Ryan Taylor
The out-of-position Fantasy prospect was afforded another start in midfield and provided an assist for the Magpies opener, but a leg injury forced him off on 32 minutes. Taylor’s 38% Fantasy owners (more than Robin Van Persie) will be sweating on the prognosis, though Alan Pardew was positive post-match, suggesting there is no break or fracture, and reckons Taylor will be ok. The Newcastle boss received some bad news on Leon Best, though, with the forward likely to be ruled out for six weeks with medial ligament damage.

Robbie Keane
The 5.1 priced Irishman continues to shine in his brief loan spell at Villa. Keane grabbed the midlanders’ equaliser yesterday and has now netted 3 goals in three starts since arriving from LA Galaxy in gameweek 21. Although he still has until the end of February before departing these shores, it’s clear his loss will already be a considerable one for Alex McLeish. Put into perspective, Gabby Agbonlahor has scored twice since the end of gameweek 5 and Darren Bent has bagged 4 since the end of gameweek 11.

Juan Mata
A 13 point haul took the Spaniard to 106 points for the season, making him the top-scoring Fantasy player in the Chelsea side. Mata had been desperately off-form as a Fantasy performer of late, having returned just a single goal in his previous nine appearances, but a goal and assist in yesterday’s 3-3 thriller brought him back under the radar. This was his third double-figure display at the Bridge and with Bolton, Stoke and Wigan three of Chelsea’s next four visitors, he’s looking promising once again but, with just 2 assists on the road all season, unless he can improve his away form, Mata –for 9.6 – still seems an unreliable acquisition.

Fernando Torres
Granted, he has yet to find the net since gameweek 6, but yesterday saw the £50m man continue an improved consistency, in terms of Fantasy returns. Torres still seems wildly off-form, though, and almost reluctant to shoot at times, but has now provided assists against Fulham, Sunderland and United in his last three first-team appearances at the Bridge. Daniel Sturridge’s assist was his first attacking return since gameweek 17 and, after a strong first half to the season, his Fantasy owners are beginning to get itchy feet- he has been sold off by more than 100,000 in the past couple of matches.

Wayne Rooney
With no goals and only “those” assists since gameweek 17, Rooney’s dire form had seen many Fantasy managers turn to up-front alternatives. Yesterday, he had his penalty duties to fall back on, bagging a couple from the spot to salvage a draw for the champions. No doubt, his brace will bring him back under the radar and with United’s fixtures from gameweek 28 onwards particularly outstanding, many will be looking to acquire his services once again. His inconsistency is still a huge worry, though. Rooney has scored in only four of his ten appearances at Old Trafford this season and, as far as home bankers go, hasn’t been in the same league as the likes of Robin Van Persie or Sergio Aguero so far.

Danny Welbeck
The 6.7 priced forward grabbed an assist yesterday to maintain his impressive run of recent form. Welbeck has produced attacking returns in four of his last five starts for United and, having started alongside Rooney once again, continues to offer a cut-price route into the champions’ front line. Similar to Rooney, Welbeck has also scored in four of his United home appearances this term, though all have come without the aid of spot-kicks.

Ryan Giggs
He may have started just twice at Old Trafford this term but the Welshman seems to be a preferred away option for Sir Alex Ferguson. Giggs has played the full 90 minutes in each of United’s last four games on the road and yesterday’s assist for Javier Hernandez’s last equaliser continued his influential displays; he has now returned 1 goal, 4 assists and 5 bonus points in those afore-mentioned fixtures.

Sorry if this one has been asked multiple times already... Anyone know why Papis Cisse wasn't in the BP's? watching him on MotD2 last night he had a great game and scored an absolute wonder goal...

Keane consistantly turned in a clockwise direction when running off his marker, whilst Bemba C tended to turn anticlockwise, which will definately have reduced his PPI. He may also have lost point for wearing a multi-coloured wrist band, but we'll need more data to be sure of that.

😛 Hi lads! I have some questions! My team lineup:

    Vorm
    Caulker-Richards-Skrtel
    Silva-Bale-Sess-Valencia-Demps(C)
    Ba-RVP(VC)

    Bench:Krul-Welbeck-Santon-Shotton

    My two questions is!
    1.I have 1FT and I’m thinking Shotton>Kelly, good move? 🙂
2.Is my captain choice right?Yes or no

Your team is the same as all the other teams on this site.

Shotton to Kelly is a good move yes as Shotton isn't even getting starts in a shaky Stoke team. Where as Fulham have their number 1 GK returning and a good run of fixtures.

The captain choice is good. 🙂

Anyone have any suggestions at all?

If you saw both, which was a better game from a sports fan perspective (leave out the halftime show, the pre-shows, and the few catchy commericials)? CHE-ManU or the Superbowl.

I actually thought they were fairly equal . Out of ten Superbowls, this ranked about 4th. CHE-ManU about third out of ten previous matches.

Well you may have noticed, I left out three parts that make it far and away the biggest event and far superior to CHE ManU. But a game is a game-- that is what I was talking about. What happened within the 60 or 90 minutes.. If you call CHE ManU a thriller-- that about sums it up.

Superbowl was better IMO. No matter who you support, the Chelsea - United match was littered with errors. IMO: Goals 1 (Evra, scrappy goal), 3 (Ferdinand), 4 (ref), 5 (ref) and 6 (Luiz). There were some errors in the Superbowl, but they were mostly technical ones - both quarterbacks delivered big and that's what matters the most.

      Prepares to get flamed.

Yeah, shouldn't really have been 6 goals. There wasn't enough attacking brilliance to merit 6 goals, it was pretty... well... jammy 😉

It wasn't as if the defences were absolutely awful either, very strange match.

I agree, ISACKI. What's horrible is when the Superbowl is a great event (family, friends, gatherings, pre-show, post show, analysis, interviews, bar scenes, halftime, celebrities, crazy fans, ticket prices, commericials, hype, etc.) but the 60 minute game is normal or a dud.

Both games yesterday were captivating to a great extent-- not the best ever but far above average.

Yep I was pretty gripped by the Bowl. Not just the circus round it, but it was the most interesting of the 3/4 I've watched. Getting an education in NFL from my pa who's been fanatical about it for decades.

Genuine contest - anyone could have won it - glad I had the sense not to bet on a Patriots win at half-time. The momentum swung back and forth.

Two juicy transfers this week. Getting fed up of Kompany missing cleanies, and Vorm not doing what he used to either... So...

Kompany and Sorenson > Kelly and Hart? City cleanies still covered, 0.3m profit banked on Kompany, with Vorm back up who I got at 4.0 anyway.

Defence will be BAE, Enrique, rotating Kelly, Simpson and Naylor

This leaves 0.3m to maybe swap Sturridge to Cisse next week, with 0.2m leeway though may just stick with Studge for Chelsea cover.

Thoughts if you can spare two mins cheers 🙂

Drop the 'fixture difficulties' menu and put in your values.

You keep your values as you drop the 'scout (overall)' menu and the 'you are the scout' holds your values.

Sure, you change the value numbers in the 'fixture difficulties'. Play with them, you'll see the colours change and then hit the 'sort by difficulty' under the team names for them in order of difficulty.

They do different jobs... watching Silva play one-touch football around the opponents area with seemingly all the time in the world is an absolute joy to behold... and something he does better than RVP or Bale imo... but he wont provide the explosive returns of those 2 for sure...

The number one ranked player (at least yesterday) doesn't have Silva, yesterday there was a cogent post on why it was time to switch out Silva for Hart and another mid. I'm keeping him, but I see the point.

In the past ten games he has had four good ones (6 or more points),

Hart is just not good value for money... i can't see how getting him in at the expense of your midfield is better than having krul/mignolet etc...

Someone can argue that it's time to drop Silva... but not for Hart...imho

I agree on your take on Hart-- but only for the first half of the season, but at almost 2/3rds into the season, Hart is not a dollar stretch for some teams anymore-- maybe those with a value over 109 or so. Hart has actually dropped a couple of tenths since season started. Silva is up a whole one point.

I think the strategy is to get a difference from the common "homogenized" team and Silva/Hart would do that with Valencia, McClean, Mata, Sess, Sigg, Dempsey, as possible replacements.

Been tempted to swap with Sturridge for Aguero and a 6.1m mid, but don't really fancy anyone unless I double up on Swansea with Siggy or Sunerland with Mclean (have Sess/Sinclair).

Front three of Aguero/Rooney/RVP bit silly too! 🙂

If you look at productivity this year, the defenders are least productive versus the goalies and others. Just looking at numbers over 100 points to date.

Also, GK (even Hart at 6.8 ) are less expensive than the top defenders.. The event that is different this year is BAINES, hasn't gone ape-**** with a very high score. I am leaning more toward Hart after this dialog.

New on here, so please go easy.......

Was just wondering if it has ever been suggested that we could get one free bench change at the end of the GW? Say 24hrs to make the swap. That way those who stay the course for the full season, will rightfully get an advantage on the part timers and those who give up in GW2. This would be especially reasonable in the cup where it seems crazy you can get knocked out by someone who's not changed their team in 6months, by 2 points!!

Would save on a huge amount of frustration, and a bit more tactical team management? A bit more realistic - teams bring on their subs.

Thoughts rather than abuse appreciated......cheers and keep up the good work on here.....and FFS team

This game is set up to have as many participants as possible (more participants= more ad money). That is why there is a second WC. FPL doesn't want to have anyone get an advantage on the part timers. They could care less about the hardcore players. Those of us will play the game no matter what.

Very fair point and totally understood. Perhaps 'advantage' was the wrong word. Maybe fairer or more interactive. Might even keep part timers stay more engaged. After all if it's about 'hits' then it might encourage some to stay playing?

I certainly know people who have binned it simply because they had 20pts on the bench. Fairly pathetic I know but if it keeps more seeing the adds, then might be good for everyone?

      B) Potential bonus of some clean sheets.

The common view is that Stoke have very little chance of clean sheets but I disagree. Instead it shocks me how no one has acknowledged that Stoke only conceded one goal with 10 men against an in-form Sunderland team.

Is it likely to be successful? Did anyone see the challenge?

Yes I saw it and IF sense prevails, the appeal should be successful.
