Another gameweek fast approaches and we’ve been feverishly beavering away to update our Watchlist rankings. Fantasy managers can see the fruits of our labours in the right hand toolbar with a short round-up after the break…

Goalkeepers

With the top three keepers holding steady, we focus instead on a quartet of main risers. Ali Al-Habsi moves closer to the top on the back of Wigan’s kind run of fixtures, though with a single clean sheet since gameweek 3, he’ll perhaps need plenty of save points to justify his lofty position. Michel Vorm is a little further back, as Swansea’s schedule begins to ease up.

Two Premier League veterans make a significant leap up the rankings. Mark Schwarzer shows no signs of fading and, now back from a spinal injury, makes a welcome return to our thoughts ahead of some tempting fixtures. Blackburn’s upcoming schedule is promising enough to see Paul Robinson pop his head around the corner.

Defenders

Manchester City keep a grasp of the top defensive spot with Micah Richards this time filling the void, as slight injury doubts hover over Vincent Kompany. Of the two, we tend to favour the Belgian due to his guaranteed game time, but Richards, for now, holds the fitness card and top spot as a result.

Budget defenders pretty much dominate the upward tick, though Ashley Cole is the exception to the rule. Having served his one-match ban against United on Sunday, the left-back has four favourable fixtures on the horizon and is, arguably, the only fit defender for Chelsea with a secure spot in the back-four right now.

A matter of millions down the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) spectrum and you’ll find a host of defenders on the up. Jonny Evans continues to offer a cut-price Manchester United option, Philippe Senderos (if fit) allows budget Fulham backing, while Angel Rangel and Taye Taiwo both offer promise from full-back for the promoted sides.

Midfielders

Our biggest mover in the centre of the pack is also one of the cheapest possibly imaginable. Coming in at just 4.6, James McClean is one of the best bargains around right now. Averaging 7.3 points per start under Martin O’Neill, the young winger has picked up bonus in five of his six appearances in the Black Cats first XI, with his game seeming tailor-made for the EA SPORTS PPI system.

An extra pocket full of change may see the Nordic charm of Gylfi Sigurdsson tempt you into backing his undoubted skills. I was persuaded and personally backed this horse (eighth person in the world to buy him, I find myself repeating to anyone who’ll listen). The on-loan midfielder has returned attacking points in three of his four games for the Welsh club and with set-pieces also in his locker, is averaging 6.25 points per game so far.

Again, still very much in the budget ballpark, are Victor Moses and Adel Taarabt. Each have ridden waves akin to a bandwagon but the talent and the fixtures coincide just sweetly enough that considering them once again might not be so crazy. Might not.

Jon Walters is one of the biggest losers this week. The Irishman has lost his ‘Out of Position’ spot of late, dropping back into midfield for Stoke, and with attacking returns in just one of his last nine gameweeks, his form has been poor, to say the least.

Hatem Ben Arfa also plummets in our estimations. While his skill is unquestionable, the Frenchman’s work-rate has seen him fall out of favour with Alan Pardew and a starting role looks far from secure. With James Perch getting the nod ahead of Ben Arfa in the recent win over Villa, he is likely to struggle to regain a starting place, with the role of impact sub perhaps his best bet.

Forwards

Demba Ba is officially back. It didn’t take him long- just half an hour was needed against Villa before he returned to goalscoring ways on Sunday afternoon. With great fixtures and a half season of strong form behind him, there wasn’t any doubt he’d reclaim third place. Papiss Cisse has also joined our reckoning for similar reasons – a brilliant debut winner saw him carry over his Bundesliga exploits with Freiburg.

With his side reeling from a 7-1 defeat at the Emirates, it’s evident that Blackburn don’t have the most resilient of defences. They’ll be welcoming Yakubu back to the fray with open arms this weekend, with the Nigerian’s goals crucial to their bid for survival.

Finally, continuing our backing of the budget crop, it’s hard to ignore Danny Graham, who starts a favourable run of games with a home clash against Norwich. Paul Lambert’s side may have increased their Carrow Road resilience, with a couple of recent home clean sheets, but the Canaries have still conceded in every away game so far this season.

We all knew Capello was very pissed from his interview where he broke rank over Terry. But when they went for talks I think most people's assumptions where that they would work it out. They haven't, he has gone for the nuclear option and quit.

TBH, he's not in the strongest position to quit as his enduring legacy was a horrific World Cup.

I wanted him to do well at the start, but he has proved himself an inflexible and uninspiring manager with no chance of getting us anywhere.

To bugger off like this leaving us in a mess for the Euros - good riddance

Well tbf I can really understand him not willing to deal with the FA. Decisions on his team should be left to him. England must be the country where who captains the team is the most overrated, all this fuss over a captain really baffles me.

I was really pleased when he first took the job - thought he had the strength of character and convictions to ignore the media and pick the right players to do the job - not just the same big names who had repeatedly failed in the past. He didnt do this, there's not been any truly new thinking tactically or personnel wise from England for a loooooong time. Sven had his moments, was pretty under-rated in some ways, but you'd have to go back to Terry Venables and his Christmas trees to see some innovation.

I think England will still continue to underachieve until this crop moves on, personally I'd like to see all players over 30 move on. They've all had their chance and not produced anything for England - Terry, Rio, Gerrard, Lampard, Colex2 etc should not play again. Give a chance for the new blood to gel.

I was under the impression that confidence was high and that the team seemed in good shape going into the Euros. Since the world cup, results have been at impressive as far as I can remember, no? The unrealistically high expectations haven't exactly helped him.

After the way he's been treated by the FA, one can't really blame him for throwing in the towel. Great to see a manager standing their ground.

The captaincy in this country is insane and I sympathise to some extent with his frustration. However I don't think the FA had a choice in the matter. For me it is never an option to retain a player let alone a captain with credible racism proceedings against him. Why don't we see it the other way, that Capello made an unwise captaincy decision TWICE and made this trouble foe himself?

Just to clarify, I don't think Fab is close to the worst England manager ever - at least he did okay in qualification (although this campaign was a bit ropey at the end). That would be McLaren by a long way.

He was, however, not the magic bullet and where it really mattered he failed. This in part was the players and media, but he didn't do cope better than his predecessors.

And he was paid and left the job as if he did a good job, which is dubious IMO.

If he hadn't quit like this, at this time, I would be okay with him. This is just an insult really.

So what we doing with Huth? 🙂

FA should never have paid Capello that much money, but with the current media he was never going to stand a chance.

I dont blame Capello for Englands failings i'd blame the players its the Rooneys and the Beckhams of the England squads that ruin it for England. The media dont do a thing to help mind you.

True true. The way the media hypes them up, you'd think they were up there with the likes of Spain. They are good enough to get and expect to qualify for every tournament, but not to win or even get near to winning. That would be exceeding realistic expectations.

In the end Capello can look back at his tenure with some pride at least. England were a good team under him but ultimately failed at the big tournament, just like they have done with every manager for the past 50 years

One thing that makes me think Harry might do well enough as England manager - and he will be offered and take the job - is that he knows his best XI. What's held him back as a club manager, his propensity to run players into the ground by not rotating effectively, could serve him well as England boss.

Yes there is that and I agree a stable squad is important. But IMO Capello had a very stable squad and it was not that great. The difference of course is you'd hope Harry's is better for the players we have. I'm not convinced there - I think Harry relies on certain very important foreign players to make his great system work. He won't have those skills with England.

Check out the Redknapp Wikipedia page ASAP:

Henry James "Harry" Redknapp (born 2 March 1947) is a former English footballer who has enjoyed a long career in football management starting in 1983 with Bournemouth. He is the current manager of Tottenham Hotspur & the English national side. He decided to double job until after [Euro 2012], as he see's it as ideal opportunity to hang out of more car windows.

      Lennon > Walcott though.

Walker RB as well, better than Johnson, but I'd have Richards tbh, just.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Huddlestone or someone going...

I don't understand why you say most people. That phrase is contextual on this forum. Because most people with his midfield yesterday were saying bench Dempsey.

I'm captaining Dempsey so it would be the last player I'd bench. He's leading the captain poll as well, would be madness to bench him.

redknapp, hodgson, pardew, mourinho, wenger, benitez, o'neill all being named as potential candidates.

If harry does not get it (due to what he said after the interview today saying how much he owes the spurs fans and also depending on what levy does) then it's wide open
