A short lull in Premier League action has afforded us time to re-assess our Watchlist rankings. These have now been fully updated to reflect form and the fixture list over the next month and, as always, you’ll find them in your right-hand sidebar. Read on for a summary of the key movements and factors at play…

Goalkeepers

Tim Krul holds the top spot amongst the stoppers, despite the 5-0 White Hart Lane drubbing, with Wolves, Sunderland and Norwich all due in his backyard in the next four Gameweeks.

Krul’s fixtures do hand him a tough away trip to Arsenal in Gameweek 28, however, with Liverpool also visiting in Gameweek 31. There’s no obvious rotation option to work in tandem with the Newcastle keeper– Wolves’ Wayne Hennessey has Blackburn and Bolton at home in those Gameweeks, while Villa’s Shay Given also has two home matches – Bolton and Chelsea. Norwich City’s John Ruddy could be another option to work with Krul. The Norwich keeper has Wigan at home while Krul visits the Emirates and then hosts Wolves with Newcastle at West Brom, with a visit to Fulham on offer as an alternative to Krul’s home fixture with Liverpool.

If you’re looking beyond Krul for your keeper option, then Wigan’s Ali Al-Habsi climbs to second as a serious budget consideration. While the Latics back four is porous, four home fixtures against Villa, Swansea, West Brom and Stoke offer the Oman international the opportunity to grab an unlikely clean sheet, while Al-Habsi has already hovered up save points so far this term – including four penalty saves.

Fulham’s Mark Schwarzer is now back in Martin Jol’s starting lineup and offers coverage of their defence during a kind run of fixtures, although full-back Stephen Kelly looks a cheaper route into the Cottagers’ back line. Shay Given returns to the reckoning, with favourable home fixtures with Fulham and Bolton hovering, following two away trips to Wigan and Blackburn. Given looks to work well in tandem with Stoke’s Thomas Sorensen or QPR’s Paddy Kenny over the next four Gameweeks.

At the top end of the price bracket, Chelsea’s Petr Cech joins City’s Joe Hart as a consideration – the keeper possibly offers the most secure route into a Chelsea defence that faces Bolton, West Brom and Stoke in the next three.

Defenders

Vincent Kompany continues to wrestle with team-mate Micah Richards for the spot as the most coveted defender. With Richards rested at Villa, the City skipper looks to have sealed the spot atop our Watchlist rankings with his greater security. Across the other side of Manchester, Jonny Evans now looks well established in the United back four and offers outstanding value, despite two away trips to come for Sir Alex Ferguson’s side.

Ryan Taylor climbs back into our top five, in anticipation of his return to fitness and a spot on the right-flank for the visit of Wolves. If Taylor can cement this midfield role, he will clearly offer the strongest defensive option with the Newcastle lineup, despite his inflated price tag. Danny Simpson’s stock drops this week as a result.

Jose Bosingwa is our choice for Chelsea coverage, although he looks far from secure. He might just be worth a punt for the home clash with Bolton, despite defensive frailties in Andre Villas-Boas’ backline. Amidst talk of unrest in the Chelsea camp, Bosingwa looks to have established himself as a favourite, having started 10 of the last 11 league matches.

Midfielders

The top four here remain unshakable, although David Silva will need to produce a goal or two soon to hold off the push from Chelsea’s Juan Mata and team-mate Yaya Toure, who both enjoy climbs this week.

Yohan Cabaye returns to our thinking, having served his three-match ban – fixtures are in his favour over the next four Gameweeks and, with Cheik Tiote expected to return alongside him, Cabaye could be a key figure as Newcastle look to climb into the top four.

Wigan’s Victor Moses and Arsenal’s Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are low-to-mid price options pushing for consideration. Moses has four home games in six off the back of improved form, while Chamberlain will be looking to maintain his run of starts, despite the return of Gervinho from the African Cup of Nations.

Villa’s Stiliyan Petrov is the big differential lower down the rankings. Villa’s fixtures are strong and the Bulgarian remains the most likely to return attacking points in Alex McLeish’s midfield – edging Charles N’Zogbia, Stephen Ireland and Gary Gardner, who all seem less secure.

Forwards

Wayne Rooney begins to push the established top three but cannot break the trio of Robin Van Persie, Sergio Aguero and Demba Ba, who have either form or fixtures in their favour. Rooney is the only attacking option within the United ranks in our Watchlist this week, with Antonio Valencia dropping out through injury and Ashley Young and Nani set for the first league starts in months, when they visit Norwich next time out. Elsewhere in the United camp, a lack of security dampens enthusiasm for Danny Welbeck and Javier Hernandez.

Below Rooney, there are some decent differentials available for those looking to shake-up the template forward line. QPR’s Bobby Zamora and Villa’s Darren Bent both have fixtures and decent form which should offer returns over the next four Gameweeks. Chelsea’s Daniel Sturridge remains a consideration with fixtures compensating for a lack of form, while Tottenham’s Emmanuel Adebayor will have to show fixture-proof qualities if he is to get close to replicating his outstanding returns in the 5-0 win against Newcastle over the next month.

Budget options take a backseat with mid-price alternatives looking strong this month. Swansea’s Danny Graham has form and looks the best option, despite three away games in four. Norwich’s Grant Holt edges above team-mate Steve Morison for the first time this season but will have to deal with the United, Stoke and Newcastle defences in the next four.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

With Yaya back I think Man City look more solid so expect good scoring from the midfield & strikers
Super Mario especially going to risk him as need to do something different to climb the table hey if it works GREAT if it does n't no harm done

hey El Nino: do you still think Sess is a worthwhile, fixture proof player? Need to get rid of Valencia, and considering him or mcclean for the replacement.

Also still thinking about Aguero to Rooney and Valencia to Yaya for a hit.

I'd do the hit 😉 Level the playing field!

On a serious note I think Sess is still the better option, plays further forward and is central to all their attacks and can't see Mclean keeping it up much longer! On the hit front, I would much rather have Yaya over Sess for next few but really it depends who you want to Captain against me and what competition is most important to you?

Yes, bad form. If you don't link your team, don't link with anything. The link option is for linking your team, not your own hand-jerking 'I'm different' wave to the crowd. I (we?) don't like clicking on someone's team link (supposed) after a serious question and being re-directed to a video of fu*king cat plying a piano.

similar to me. definately strong enough. i think mcclean can hold his own in valencias absence. i just feel i had to use my ft to get rid as it was a more entertaining option

Identical to mine apart from Verm + Dempsey, I have Assou Ekkoto (but starting Kelly) and Sessegnon. Debating between Krul + Mignolet in nets? And I'm gunning for Ba as (C)...

    Hey all,

I am an American looking to purchase his first football shirt. The official Spurs site is offering 50% off their shirts right now. I was all excited to do this, but the shipping is 20 pounds, (30 dollars) American. That seems.........borderline ridiculous. Am I being to picky? Should I be looking elsewhere? I want a quality shirt, and I was told when buying online that the only way to ensure a good shirt was to go to the Club's shop website.

The thing I heard was that it isn't the same quality on ebay. You just don't know if its the real deal, and most of the time there isn't any way to tell. Is that true?

I've seen soccershirt88.com before, is that the same as 88footballshirt? I had heard thyre shirts arent the deal real, either.

If it dosent have the "authentic spurs tag" you wont be able to tell the difference beleive me. itll be exactly the same. I have 5 liverpool shirts. 1 from a store in Canada (disalvo) 70plus. i have 4 from ebay 3 are authentic (addidas, authentic liverpool tags) and 1 which isnt. (not that you could tell)

with ebay you should be careful. But if it isnt authentic (meaning dosent have the spurs authentic merchandise on the inside) it will still have everything else. (puma, logo, crest etc) ebay patrols for fakes. U can also dispute it if you want and get your money back lol.

Ryan: I can't even find that website. I have Jersey99.com, but nothing for 99footballshirt.com. Can you link?

I figured just because they assure me of quality doesn't mean it actually is. Can't trust anything you buy online, I guess.

also one on ebay for 26$ http://www.ebay.ca/itm/BRAND-NEW-2011-2012-TOTTENHAM-HOTSPUR-HOME-FOOTBALL-JERSEY-T-SHIRT-SIZE-M-L-XL-/320850341970?pt=AU_Sport_Soccer_Clothing_Boots&var=&hash=item76c1ad0291#ht_1228wt_1185.

the thing is when you buy it and are not sure of quality u might miss out on 2 things:
                    A) it might not have the spurs shiny tag on the inside saying authentic
                    B) it might not have the spurs authentic merchandise on the inside of the neck.

Other than that you cannot tell the difference.

You can get really crappy fakes which are not made by Puma. Thats when you should be worried as it will look different. If its made by Puma its simply a jersey produced in asia (where they normally are) which may or may not have been validated by Spurs

Anyone care to read my extended WC'team post and help me ?

This is the n'th I've posted my proposed WC team for GW 28:
And I am so happy with my WC'team! 🙂
    Here it is:
    Mignolet-Schwarzer
    BAE-Evans-Agger-Skrtel-R Taylor
    Bale-Dempsey-Yaya Toure-McClean-Sigurdsson
    Ba-RVP-Rooney

Will probs change some players based on form and injuries in the two coming GW'S.

-My keepers: Mignolet and Schwarzer are both very good keepers. Mignolet playing on the best form team in the PL atm, + Sunderland has become a much tighter defense with MON as their manager. As for Schwarzer, I think Fulham will start getting CS again with him back.

-My defenders: I think my defenders are very good, and all have good fixtures from GW 28 onwards. I'm doubling up on 'Pool defenders because of the kind run of fixtures from GW 28 + they are tightest defense in the league. I will scout Raylor, etc about his gametime, which position he will be in , now that he's back. He's an amazing fantasy prospect if he's nailed on for Newcastle.

-My midfielders: Bale and Yaya will be my weekly starters, with the others rotating based on form + fixtures. I think McClean and Siggy are quite good and very cheap shouts that helps me with getting my three strikers. Dempsey I like, he's having a very good season for Fulham and are their best FPL prospect.

My forwards: RVP,Ba and Rooney, I will play them every week Nuff said. 🙂

    Any opinions please? 🙂

Any reason you're going for Agger over Enrique?

Otherwise it looks really good. Personally don't like Raylor, but that opinion flies in the face of the facts really. I'd worry about lacking Silva too, but one can't afford everyone.

Would only say that Fulham's fixtures start to get harder so i'd get in Nani or Mata. I'd also get rid of Raylor for Santon and upgrade Siggy/McClean.

Mata and Chelsea are just not doing it, IMO Mata is no better than Yaya.
+ Don’t really rate Nani and I’m a UTD fan. He’s just too inconsistent and Valencia will be back from GW 30 IMO.

A lot of money spent at the back, downgrade and spend more in midfield, may want a Utd mid or VDV with their fixtures?

      Reina Mignolet
      Skrtel BAE Evans Kelly Santon
      Bale Nani Dempsey Mclean Siggy
      RVP Rooney Ba

Depending on how much money you have left, if any? Dempsey > VDV or Ba > Ade GW31!

Out of interest how many changes are you making to your current team and can you get close to your wildcard team in a couple of weeks with free transfers? May be worth saving wildcard for double game weeks?

I believe Man Utd will be performing the next few weeks and want to get a defender, midfielder and forward in. Bad tactic? Good tactic?

    If good who to pick?

I was thinking Nani but wasnt sure if he will get some of his form back?
Would like to choose another striker (only because the other guys have him) but Rooney is the only regular starter.
        Evans over Evra and Ferdinand?

We have 2 games to access the situation GW28 is when you ideally want them, Nani Young and Valencia when back causes a problem as to who is the best mid option but Nani is the most explosive and with fixtures should produce. Evra is the best defensive option but is costly and lacks attacking points, it depends on the rest of your defense but Evans is excellent value for a defender who will play 70% of games. Rio is injury prone and will be rested at times!

Rio injury prone? Did you see him fall on his head? (only joking, i do agree) Evans good value.

Nani should get some form back.

Wont be able to afford Evra if i have Rooney and Nani.

Thanks for pointing out GW28. Not in such a rush now.

    Lindy Vorm
    Bae Simpson Taiwo Enrique Caulker
    Mcclean Taarabt Bale Dempsey Walters
    Aguero Dzeko RVP

Walters to Yaya, can you do that? Other than Walters and Linde it looks ok to me and obviously after the Dzeko to Rooney move.

0.7 left over after the rooney trade so cant do walters to yaya. wish i could though. i think if i did do the rooney trade i would save that extra cash to upgrade taiwo gw29

those moves would give me a team looking nearly identical to the rest of the teams in my league. i know that theyre probably the right moves to make but i'd rather my team be at least a little different rather than leaving everything to captain choice

Do you big boys think it is worth switching Walters ----> A cheapie and then swapping Valencia -----> Mata for a 4pt hit?

          yes stick with Valencia.... 🙂

ok with the times now! I have been sticking with some of the Chelsea players (including Mata) for some time now and there is no sign that they will be on top form soon.

Yaya Toure? (much cheaper now) been on good form.
