Another QPR home debut, another red card, another loss. After Djibril Cissé did the honours in the eventual Gameweek 24 loss to Wolves, it was the turn of Mali midfielder Samba Diakité to woo his new supporters with a red card, this time after 33 minutes of the clash with Fulham.

While QPR led at the time of Cissé’s indiscretion, an early goal by Fulham’s Pavel Pogrebnyak meant QPR were already chasing, and the six fouls racked up by Diakité in the 32 minutes of his debut were too many for referee Phil Dowd (fouls number four and six drew the cards if you’re interested). Mark Hughes will now be without both these new charges for the Gameweek 27 visit of Everton.

The other red card this weekend went to Tottenham’s Scott Parker, with just two fouls this time enough to warrant his two yellow cards for fouls on Robin van Persie and Thomas Vermaelen but, as with Diakité, the damage was already done before his dismissal, courtesy of a resounding comeback from Arsenal. Parker will therefore be missing for the visit of second placed Manchester United in Gameweek 27, though the appearance of Sandro from the bench in yesterday’s game suggests a like for like replacement is available if required.

Finally onto the suspension tightrope, and still the solitary name in immediate danger of a ban. Lee Cattermole showed enough restraint in the 4-0 thumping by West Brom to avoid a caution and therefore remains on nine yellow cards for the season. Behind him, on eight yellows, we still find Raul Meireles, John Terry and Joey Barton and now following a booking picked up in the win over Swansea, Stoke captain Ryan Shawcross joins the group two yellows away from the threshold. There’s also a late addition to this group thanks to a discrepancy between the FA and Opta. The FA today confirmed to us that the Arsenal’s Laurent Koscielny did indeed pick up his eighth booking of the season in the win over Spurs; our friends at Opta have now tweaked their data accordingly.

GAMEWEEK 27 BANS

  • Gaël Givet (BLA) – 1 Red for serious foul play (last of 3 matches)
  • Jason Lowe (BLA) – 10 Yellows (last of 2 matches)
  • Djibril Cissé (QPR) – 1 Red for serious foul play (last of 3 matches)
  • Samba Diakité (QPR) – 1 Red for 2 Yellows (1 match)
  • Scott Parker (TOT) – 1 Red for 2 Yellows (1 match)

i assumed it was given as serious foul play. which would have been absurd. the incident considered. i wasnt aware - to be honest - of the "violent conduct" ruling. still, 3 games does not really reflect the incident imo

Yeah I reckon 3 games could have been a bit much but they're the rules I suppose. I have this inkling that the Johnson tackle was a bad one too and he got away with it because of Cisse's reaction, can't remember it too well now but I think that's what happened.

although i dont condone it, i understand cisse's reaction... the tackle was something more than a mere foul (again, in my opinion)

Yep Violent Conduct is right. I didn't update it. Apologies.

          Laws of the game state:

          "• serious foul play
          • violent conduct
          • spitting at an opponent or any other person
          • denying the opposing team a goal or an obvious goalscoring opportunity
by deliberately handling the ball (this does not apply to a goalkeeper within
          his own penalty area)
          • denying an obvious goalscoring opportunity to an opponent moving
towards the player’s goal by an offence punishable by a free kick or a
          penalty kick
          • using offensive, insulting or abusive language and/or gestures
          • receiving a second caution in the same match"

          Catchy some of them.

I like the (strongly enforced) "using offensive, insulting or abusive language" one.

Referee's must go through some serious boot camp style training to raise their tolerance levels such is the irregularity that one is used.

He was never going to improve on 8 7 11 7, a period during which he might well have been top midfield scorer - the whole Sunderland team have a mare at Brom, can't really conclude too much about McClean from that. Will be benching a lot but remains a great backup option.

is parkers absence making anyone nervous about playin bale against manu away?

they were pretty bad against arsenal, now losing their unsung lynchpin surely means theyll need to park the bus and maybe try and catch utd on the break. I accept if there are to be any spurs goals then bale has a good chance of being among em, but i just cant see spurs bouncing back after that defeat and the loss of parker

Well, I'm keeping Sessegnon. He can bench it for the odd game - I got him cheapish. I think I need a Nani. 😉

Fit as a butcher's dog and raring to be unleashed!!

Spurs will still concede mind. Bale will have to play well if they have any chance. Against MU's famously settled RB / RW combo.

I can easily see Spurs bouncing back but if they do I think it will be scoring and conceding lots.

I think Bale's position in the team has changed after Ade and Saha arrived. He just doesn't get as central and get as many goalscoring opportunitities. I do wonder if Harry will play Ade and Saha together again after that, even though they scored - he might have sacrificed their solidity.

Yep, I think Spurs used to play a 4-4-1(VDV)-1(Ade) or 4-4-1(Ade)-1(Defoe).

Since Saha arrived it's been more like 4-4-2 (Ade & Saha).

And it's only in the former that Bale is allowed to roam, presumably as they have more numbers in midfield and either of VDV or Ade work well with him in the hole.

Yep interesting extension, they certainly have conceded a good few goals with both Dembas. Committing to 2 strikers up front seems to make a big difference. At least with one withdrawn you can help in midfield. Rooney often does this at United.

Interesting, definite offensive player only. It's why I find football fascinating; the team is more than the sum of the players - it's about the interplay. It explains those times the fans are wondering why their favourite striker isn't being played...

It's evident on the pitch when they celebrate goals. I remember a goal two or so months ago when RVP picked Walcott up after being assisted and pointed to his shirt number. Total supplier.

    Vorm
    Richards-Kompany-Kelly
    Demps-Bale-Silva-Sessegnon
    Welbeck-RVP-Ba

    Bench:Krul-Caulker-Santon-Valencia

I have 1FT and 0.2M to use. Any suggestions to transfers I could do this week? Or should I just stay with my team?

    Hi guys!

I am chasing two of my mates who have about 130 points on me. So need differentials really.
Have 1 FT for this week which I think I shouldn't use.

    My team:

    Krul Vorm

    Kompany Simpson Huth Caulker Evans

    Bale Silva Sess Siggy Dempsey

    Rooney Ba Aguero

    Bank: 3.3 mil

The have almost the same team the only difference is that one has: Graham, Sturridge and RVP in attack and same midfield apart from Siggy (he has Sinclair), also has Baines and Bardsley (in place of Caulker and Huth that I have), everything else is the same.

The other mate has Ireland, OX, Bale, Silva and Sess in the midfield and RVP, Aguero and Ba upfront and BAE, Raylor, Shawcross, McAuley and Evans.

Please share your thoughts;) Udit so far has been very helpful;)

Thanks;) Yes, I was thinking doing 1 transfer for GW 28 so that I would have 2 FT for GW 29 which is really important! Should I replace Sess with Valencia for GW 28? Is he going to start for Man Utd regularly?

Would LOVE to double up on Utd's attack from GW 28 onwards - Aguero's home games aren't too appealing and he just doesn't do the business away. Just wish either Chico/Welbeck were nailed on.

Right, apparently Walker has pulled out of the England squad and this makes Richards a danger to get some serious gametime in the friendly before his PL match.

But isn't Johnson in the squad? Isn't he first choice for England?

I would like to get Richards out and have 0.3m in bank (so 0.1 off Kompany)!

Shall I swap for Lescott or Luiz?

    This is my team atm

    Vorm
    Richards-Kompany-Kelly
    Demps-Bale-Silva-Sessegnon
    Welbeck-RVP-Ba

    Bench:Krul-Caulker-Santon-Valencia

I have 1FT and 0.2M to use. Any suggestions to transfers I could do this week? Or should I just stay with my team? 🙂

    Repost.

    Hi guys!

I am chasing two of my mates who have about 130 points on me. So need differentials really.
Have 1 FT for this week which I think I shouldn’t use.

    My team:

You have sold RVP so you are taking risks. More need to be taken. Bale & Ba may be next to go.
