This morning has seen a couple of fixtures, which were previously affected by FA Cup and Carling Cup schedules, afforded new dates that will have significant bearing on Fantasy managers’ thinking.

Following on from last night’s rescheduling of the Villa v Bolton match to Gameweek 29, Everton have this morning confirmed their Merseyside derby with Liverpool has been switched to Tuesday March 13.

The game was originally set to take place in Gameweek 26 but was cancelled due to Liverpool’s Carling Cup Final with Cardiff- it will now be played in Gameweek 28, affording both Merseyside clubs the opportunity of a double Gameweek.

Liverpool now have (sun, EVE) on the agenda, while David Moyes’ side face (TOT, liv). Tricky fixtures for both sides, no doubt, but Fantasy managers will be keen to get in on the action. With Sergio Aguero facing a trip to Swansea, his dire away form may see the Argentine shipped out for Luis Suarez as frontlines are re-adjusted on the back of this morning’s announcement. Liverpool’s fixtures look particularly enticing from Gameweek 30 onwards, and many Fantasy managers may bring forward their plans a little earlier than anticipated now.

The likes of Leighton Baines will no doubt find himself the subject of investment, too, with the Toffees current five-match unbeaten run indicative of an upturn in performance which has seen them defeat both City and Chelsea, while recording clean sheets in both games. It’s also worth noting that Steven Pienaar will be unavailable for the Spurs game, due to the conditions of his loan deal, leaving the South African with just the trip to Anfield as his only option.

The downside is that, at present, both sides still have a blank Gameweek 29; Liverpool’s trip to QPR and Everton’s home clash with Arsenal have yet to be granted a new date. The fixture list is quickly being settled, though. Blackburn have also announced this morning that their home game with Sunderland has been set for Tuesday March 20, which falls into Gameweek 29.

At present, then, there are now only three games yet to be afforded a new date for that particular gameweek, though this could increase to four if Chelsea win their FA Cup replay with Birmingham. It’s clear, however, that our previous worries over Gameweek 29 are now being resolved, allowing Fantasy managers the chance to plan in advance once again.

All depends on your gut instinct about Suarez.

Personally I think Rooney will score more in 1 game than Suarez does in 2.

      Rooney - WBA...

      could easily outscore

      Suarez - sun EVE.

yes I was thinking that too, so looks like no liv coverage as I can't afford their defence as I have to save cash for aguero to rooney. Oh well, thank you both

I had Suarez earlier in the season for a ridiculously good run of fixtures and he did bugger all. And I always hold a grudge in FPL, so he's dead to me 😉

So having been fairly happy with my squad, my potential GW28 wildcard sees me swapping 11 players!! How's this look then, and where would you use the spare 0.7m I have?

    Friedel, Bogdan
    JEvans, Enrique, Simpson, Kelly, Caulker
    Gerrard, Walcott, Valencia, Pilkington, Sigurdsson

No City players - they're one of 2 teams that will be battling it out for the title, I'd want at least one. Silva is such a reliable points-scorer that I would have him in - maybe Gerrard to Silva after the GW28 double?

Aguero, Ivanovic and Richards > Suarez, Baines and GJ is looking good next week.

Annoying that I can't spread it over two weeks without losing Aguero (before Bolton at home - no way). But I think it will pay off. Still can't decide what to do this week. Taarabt to Drenthe is a possilibty.

    .2 from doing this 🙁

    GW27: HBA>Surman
    GW28: Hart&Welbeck> Reina & Rooney

Could take a hit and do Kompany>Skrtel as well, but don't fancy getting rid of two City defenders who've done me so proud. Thoughts?

Not bad moves, I wouldn't mind losing City defenders if you could supplant them with City attackers, so I would be looking to have Silva and/or YaYa at least in their absence.

Reina and Rooney are ideal with a DGW for Reina and Rooney with a kind set of fixtures.

I don't quite get all the Surman love on here but then at 4.4, what is not to get? HBA has to go, not consistent, not guaranteed starter, so, to save funds, not a Bad move.

Thanks Johnny! Given me a fair bit of confidence there, I appreciate that from a man with your consistent history.

I really liked the idea of having at least one Liverpool defender for the run in. Would love to have a City defender back at some point but who knows, maybe I won't need one!

Was going to get Rooney in for Aguero GW28. My initial reaction to the DGW news was to get Suarez instead and then GW29 get Rooney but now I'm thinking it's better just to do Aguero to Rooney. Rooney (WBA) is better than Suarez (EVE, sun) -4pts isn't it? Money and captaincy are irrelevant to the decision.

This DGW is an absolute damp squib for me, I had 3 Everton players for the Spurs/Everton DGW and it got me nowhere, and had me saying (as I say 99% of DGW's that aren't United DGW's circa 2010) that I would never again fall for the fools gold that is a DGW with an average team (Everton) and a team where there are no consistant scorers (Liverpool).

I suppose I could be tempted by a Liverpool defender, and will most likely have two free transfers next week to debate, but I certainly won't be burning points or messing with my team too much to accommodate either side.

Agree. When there are no consistent sources of attacking points it's not worth it unless the fixtures are particularly good. Think I'm decided on just getting 2 Liverpool defenders for the DGW and even that's only because of their good run of fixtures subsequently.

Suarez for a 1-2 week punt is fine IMO, he is the clubs top scorer this season and is always involved in their attacking play, he just flatters deceive in terms of FPL points.

And I'd go for Dawson/Kaboul over King if you need a cheap Spurs def, see which one seems most nailed on at that point.

And Gerrard's not really a long term keeper either on current form and position in the midfield 2 of a 4-4-2 or 4-2-3-1

Needed an excuse to get rid of Sess, downgrading him for Siggy to free up cash for Studge > Suarez was enough! Had 2 FTs, would have been rude not to.

Right lords and ladies. Whats everyones opinion on this. I didn't see the game, but I have heard a lot about Ba playing behind Cisse against Wolves. Do we think this is going to be the way for the foreseeable? I have a FT for this week, and I really don't need it, my team is good to go.

However, pretty much every rival I have in the game has Ba, and i'm thinking this week of swapping him to Cisse and then (c) him, i'm not concerned about losing money on Ba as I would probably keep Cisse to the end.

What say you all? Sideways nonsense or inspired differential?

Cisse definitely plays in a more advanced role - Pardew said as much before he joined. Depends how badly you want to be different - Ba will still get his fair share of chances and is on penalties, 50/50 imo.

Sideways move in my opinion - the question is, would you rather have the proven FPL talent that most people have or the risky new player who might not even play every week.

Throw in Ba's penalty duties and slightly superior stats and I think it's not worth the risk.

As Sturridge hasn't hit a barn door since before the xmas shopping was finished, it's punt time! 🙂

Gonna take a two week gamble on Bellendermy for the DGW. For GW29 will then switch to Pomegranite, fat man Holt or Dave Cisse, depending on form. Ensures I get my 0.3m profit in before Studge drops, and might get a bit of bunce out of Bellamy if he scores vs Arsenal this weekend - assuming everyone goes DGW mad next week...

      GW28: Bale to Ryo 💡

I reckon Dempsey can be sold after GW29 to make space for Bale

I like the look of Ryo but I already have Moses and Sigurdsson as cheap midfield options so may just switch one of those to get him in. 😕

Probably shouldn't waste too much brainpower on this - I'll have changed my mind again by the weekend! Got two free transfers and a wildcard burning a hole in my pocket - the possibilities are doing my head in!

First fantasy football game I played was the Daily Telegraph one where you had to submit any transfers you wanted to make through the post using a transfer form cut out of the paper! Easier on the knees in those days 😉

Me too! Mid 90s. Denis Irwin, Ole Gunnar and Shearer essential picks. If I remember rightly only 3 transfers a season or something like that? 🙂

Irwin was a beast from freekicks! Transfers were certainly extremely limited but I can't remember the exact number - a bit less squad rotation to worry about in those days!

Would be interesting to run a mini-league now with some sort of similar restrictions on transfers - would require people setting up a second team though unfortunately.

Totally agree - Sess > Morisson/Siggy and Senderos out for Skrtel next week (or this week if you're struggling to play 3 defenders, although a hit would be risky)

cannot do it without a hit.
        should i do it?

Do the Sess on this week (before Siggy rises if you have to) and hold fire on the Skrtel one for now, no point doing both now! You can decide nearer the deadline.

Tough call given Young's return. The plus side is that he's in form and creating/scoring a lot of important goals. I would risk it personally and play him!

I have 80 points to make up in my ML so gonna take some huge gambles with my WC in GW28, in particular, no MCY coverage - thoughts on this lot?

    Schwarzer, Bogdan
    BAE, Enrique, JEvans, Kelly, Caulker
    Gerrard, Walcott, Valencia, Pilkington, Moses
    RVP, Rooney, Suarez
    Bank 0.0m

    GW29: No transfer
    GW30: Undecided
    GW31: Gerrard & Suarez -> Bale & Adebayor
    GW32: Moses -> Siggy

Not a team I'd pick but as you've said you need to gamble and they could work out. If you really want to gamble, get Ryo over Pilks/Moses. Maybe Andrews or McClean as well.

Mmm, got me thinking. I may have to do the unthinkable an lose sess, might be the most feabisle option. Just looking and if I downgrade sess to mcclean, I could pigeon whole skirtel, rooney and schawzer into my team, albeit with a couple points hits.

I've currently got Senderos and Kelly and was definitely going to shift Senderos after his non-appearance at the weekend but knocks to Kelly and now Hangeland are giving me niggling doubts about the safest course of action.

It would be great that mclean would get a run out.
We can't get back the occupied six yet but instead we got:
        1 Gibson
        2 Wilson
        3 Duffy
