Just as Jason Lowe has cemented himself as the Suspension Tightrope poster boy in the last few months, referee Mike Dean is fast becoming his equivalent for the Men in Black column. The Wirral-based official was once again in the headlines, with a flurry of cards and couple of spot-kicks in Sunday’s ill-tempered showdown at the Sports Direct Arena.

Not content with six cautions inside the first 25 minutes of the Tyne-Wear derby, the action packed game eventually finished with Dean showing nine yellow cards and two straight reds for the visitors, in addition to the anticipated penalty.

Fantasy favourite Stéphane Sessègnon was the first to receive his marching orders; the Benin international was dismissed for striking Newcastle’s Chieck Tioté and will now begin a three-match suspension, ruling him out of the upcoming league matches against Liverpool and Blackburn, as well as the FA Cup tie with Everton. Sessegnon will be available for the Gameweek 30 home clash against QPR.

Black Cats skipper Lee Cattermole is out for even longer, though, with the club confirming earlier today he is set to serve a four-match suspension. Cattermole went into yesterday’s game sitting on nine bookings and his first-minute minute caution for a foul on Tioté meant he was due to receive a two-match suspension for accruing 10 yellows. After the final whistle, however, the combative midfielder picked up a straight red card for foul and abusive language towards Dean, earning himself another automatic two-match ban. Cattermole will now miss the league games against Liverpool, Blackburn and QPR, in addition to the Everton FA Cup game, and will be available for selection for the Gameweek 31 trip to Man City.

While many may feel Cattermole’s absence could affect the Black Cats resilience, a look at the stats since Martin O’Neill’s arrival perhaps indicates otherwise. Sunderland have played eight games with Cattermole in the starting line-up, returning 2 clean sheets and conceding 10 goals, while in the five games he has missed for the new manager, the Wearsiders have returned 2 clean sheets and conceded 4 goals, with Jack Colback proving a more than able deputy.

Also troubling the FA disciplinary section this weekend was Swansea midfielder Nathan Dyer. The winger’s studs up challenge on Jordi Gomez was deemed worthy of a straight red card by referee Andre Marriner, meaning that Dyer will now miss home games against Man City and Everton and the trip to in-form Fulham. With the club confirming they will not be appealing the decision earlier this afternoon, Dyer’s absence should afford Wayne Routledge a fresh chance to add to his Premier League minutes over the next few matches.

GAMEWEEK 28 BANS

  • Nathan Dyer (SWA) – 1 Red for serious foul play (first of 3 matches)
  • Lee Cattermole (SUN) – 1 Yellow takes season tally to 10 bookings. 1 red for foul and abusive language (first of 4 matches)
  • Stéphane Sessègnon (SUN) – 1 Red for violent conduct (first of 3 matches)

Sub keepers don't count, I only included Goram so I could allude to the tired '2 Andy Gorams' gag 😉

Taibi played 4 matches for Utd and got MOTM twice. The other 2 didn't go quite so well, granted...

Tbf, Barthez was the only one that really annoyed me because Fergie was too stubborn to change him for about 4 seasons..

should i do aguero to rooney today to catch his rise? i know subs early in the week are not recomended but this 0.1 could be crucial in the coming weeks according to the team i want.

secondly, do you guys recomend an 8pt hit to play the following

    skrtel + yaya

over the following for no hit

kelly (who may be doubtful, other choices are simpson (ars) and caulker (MCY) + mata (sucks)

Unfortunately i really need another solid defender so it will probably come down to one of Suarez/Rooney coming in for Aguero along with Enrique in for Taiwo. I've no problem keeping Ba though. Arsenal and Norwich are hardly rock solid defences!

I'm just tempted by the Rooney-RVP-Suarez for the next few weeks

The problem, Brian, is a basic one. While it is good to have the best possible strikers, they only get 4 points for a goal, whereas your bloody midfielder gets 5. So if you have Dempsey, he outscores van Persie - even though he got two bonus to Robin's three! Also he picked up a CS point.

This is why the Famous Five have been so influential ...

I was tempted by that, second time this season, the thing is if you don´t have a great budget you´ll struggle to get mids plus you´ll never want to ditch any of them if they´re doing bad with fear that they will come good...just think about it.

Oh my god, I’m going out of my mind. Please help:

    Vorm Mignolet
    Taiwo Evans BAE Kompany Raylor
    Dempsey Sess Bale Silva McClean
    RVP Cisse Ba

I am well aware that I need to get the Roonpig. However, with just 2.1m in the bank and no FT my options for doing it quickly are all dire:

    A. Silva > Yaya, Ba > Roonpig
    B. Sess > Siggy, Taiwo > [3.8m non-player], Ba > Roonpig
    C. Dempsey > Siggy, Ba > Roonpig

To get Roonpig in for WBA would be 8 point hit minimum: should I consider it? Option B is probably my preferred because I get to keep Silva and Dempsey but involves 1 more transfer and therefore waiting longer/taking more hits (12 points to do it this week!) Waiting longer risks Roonpig rising out of my budget (option B only has 0.1m leeway for that).

What I need is a 1950s style slap for a hysterical woman. Maybe you can all line up, like on Airplane! Whatever, someone please calm me down

Need a little help with my defence, i'm definately playing Skrtel (sun, EVE) and Evans (WBA) but:

Who do i play out of these 3?

    a) Huth (che)
    b) Simpson (ars)
    c) Kelly (avl) injured

or take a 4 point hit and switch one of them? 0.1m in the bank and no FT.

I could do Huth > Carrager but that would mean tripling up on lpool defence...

Well, he is playing very well indeed, but in FPL terms as yet there is little end product. Still have him, may have Rooney next week.

Welbeck: Great price, not really delivering, could be rotated anytime Fergie decides
Rooney: Expensive, Money could be spent elsewhere, main Utd point scorer, Captaincy Option, won't fall behind if he goes mad, rotation proof!

Got the money for Skrtel - might still go for Enrique though.
Will need the money at some point in the future (always do).
Do we think Skrtel will outscore Enrique to earn the .4 before the end year?
