Just as Jason Lowe has cemented himself as the Suspension Tightrope poster boy in the last few months, referee Mike Dean is fast becoming his equivalent for the Men in Black column. The Wirral-based official was once again in the headlines, with a flurry of cards and couple of spot-kicks in Sunday’s ill-tempered showdown at the Sports Direct Arena.

Not content with six cautions inside the first 25 minutes of the Tyne-Wear derby, the action packed game eventually finished with Dean showing nine yellow cards and two straight reds for the visitors, in addition to the anticipated penalty.

Fantasy favourite Stéphane Sessègnon was the first to receive his marching orders; the Benin international was dismissed for striking Newcastle’s Chieck Tioté and will now begin a three-match suspension, ruling him out of the upcoming league matches against Liverpool and Blackburn, as well as the FA Cup tie with Everton. Sessegnon will be available for the Gameweek 30 home clash against QPR.

Black Cats skipper Lee Cattermole is out for even longer, though, with the club confirming earlier today he is set to serve a four-match suspension. Cattermole went into yesterday’s game sitting on nine bookings and his first-minute minute caution for a foul on Tioté meant he was due to receive a two-match suspension for accruing 10 yellows. After the final whistle, however, the combative midfielder picked up a straight red card for foul and abusive language towards Dean, earning himself another automatic two-match ban. Cattermole will now miss the league games against Liverpool, Blackburn and QPR, in addition to the Everton FA Cup game, and will be available for selection for the Gameweek 31 trip to Man City.

While many may feel Cattermole’s absence could affect the Black Cats resilience, a look at the stats since Martin O’Neill’s arrival perhaps indicates otherwise. Sunderland have played eight games with Cattermole in the starting line-up, returning 2 clean sheets and conceding 10 goals, while in the five games he has missed for the new manager, the Wearsiders have returned 2 clean sheets and conceded 4 goals, with Jack Colback proving a more than able deputy.

Also troubling the FA disciplinary section this weekend was Swansea midfielder Nathan Dyer. The winger’s studs up challenge on Jordi Gomez was deemed worthy of a straight red card by referee Andre Marriner, meaning that Dyer will now miss home games against Man City and Everton and the trip to in-form Fulham. With the club confirming they will not be appealing the decision earlier this afternoon, Dyer’s absence should afford Wayne Routledge a fresh chance to add to his Premier League minutes over the next few matches.

GAMEWEEK 28 BANS

  • Nathan Dyer (SWA) – 1 Red for serious foul play (first of 3 matches)
  • Lee Cattermole (SUN) – 1 Yellow takes season tally to 10 bookings. 1 red for foul and abusive language (first of 4 matches)
  • Stéphane Sessègnon (SUN) – 1 Red for violent conduct (first of 3 matches)

    Guys.

I know it's a long way off, but who would be in your future England Squad - after the 2014 World Cup (once all the 'Golden Generation' have gone)

I will start the ball rolling with the obvious names: -

Hart, Rooney, Wilshire, Cleverley, Ox, Rodwell, Phil Jones

    Can you add?

    Al-Habsi | Bogdan
    J.Evans | S.Kelly | Lescott | G. Cahill | Santon
    Silva | Nani | Mata | Sessegnon | Pilkington
    RVP | Ba | Yakubu

how do u find those 2 moves..?
    - now, before GW 28: Lescott & Sessegnon —> J.Enrique & Larsson (4 point hint)
    - before GW 30: Al-Habsi & G.Cahill —> Ruddy & Lescott (or Richards)

    why?

I really want to get at least one Liverpool player before GW 28 and I would like to stay with him for a longer time. And probably getting rid of Lescott is the only reasonable way right now to do this. But I wouldn’t like to stay without any City defender for a long time, so that is why I want to get Lescott (or Richards if plays) after 2 games with no City defender. I also want to change Al-Habsi to Ruddy, because of much better fixtures of Norwich after GW29.

What do u think about it, guys? Do it or not? If not Larsson, who - any other long-term ideas?

So, Rooney and Suarez for Aguero and Ba. With the proviso that if Suarez does well in the DGW, he gets until GW 31, else Ba is back for Norwich at home.

Need to downgrade Sess to accomplish that. Whats the buzz with this Miyaichi bloke? Or is the safer option to just go McClean?

Whats the best looking transfer. I have no liverpool or everton coverage.

    A. Aguero > Rooney, Sess > Pilkington for free

    or

    B. Aguero > Rooney, Sess > Ryo (bolton) /Surman and Taiwo > Enrique - 4 points

If I choose to go with B I will be left with no money.

Yeh I know what you mean about Pilks but he has a habit for big numbers, so could be worth a risk.... B is probably the safe option as you should get your 4 points back even if enrique doesnt keep a cleanie.

Problem with Everton however is that they may have "only" conceded that many goals, but 1 goal takes your 4 cleansheet points away, and I suspect many of those goals were in games where they "only" conceded 1 goal.

I had Baines for their last DGW, no thanks!

If 2 teams are level on points, the h2h record comes first, only then the GD.

How come in the CL, all the group standings are in the correct order, but not in the Europa League?

Is this worth a 4 point hit â“

    Riise âž¡ Enrique
    Ba âž¡ Rooney

Also bear in mind I lose my 4 point home advantage in Europa League

Was really tempted to do Aguero to Suarez but just got rid of him for Rooney and it feels right...

Suarez is so painful to watch. He cant finish. (at least in the Prem) end of story.

    This week would you start;

    a) Kompany @ Swansea

    or

    b) Evans (h) to WBA

I understand that alright, Suarez could be a beautiful choice but on the other hand he's more likely to dissapoint. He does have nice fixtures after the dgw which gives you a bit breathing space if he doesn't do well. Your call man...

Thanks m8. Was gonna double up on Liverpool with Skrtel + Enrique. You think I should just go with one of them and start Evans + Kompany?

I don't have any Liv defenders at the mo but I'd probably leave Evans on the bench and double up on pool...

So had my stag in Hungary this weekend. Just got back to see that I finally geo a decent points score this week!

Only need to address sess. Any suggestions for his replacement? Team linked. 1 FT and circa 6mill in the bank.

Siggy if you can bench him this week. Drenthe if you fancy a (massive, doomed) gamble.

Team at the moment for GW28 (2 free transfers and 1.8m in the BANK):

    Vorm(MCI)
    Evans(WBA) Simpson(ars) Kompany(swa)
    Pilkington(WIG) Demspey(avl) Bale(eve) Silva(swa)
    Ba(ars) Aguero(swa) RVP(NEW)

subs - Krul, McClean, Taiwo, Kelly.

Any of these worth a 4 point hit ya think?
    a) Aguero & Taiwo > Enrique & Suarez (no hit)
    b) Aguero, Pilkington & Taiwo > Rooney, Surman, Enrique
    c) Aguero, Ba & Silva > Rooney, Suarez & Gerrard
    d) Aguero, Ba & Silva > Rooney, Suarez & Young
    e) Aguero, Ba & Pilkington> Rooney, Suarez & Surman

Wish i had the cash. Will take a hit to get Rooney and Enrique (like Pilkington > Surman or maybe Silva > Gerrard)

I think (a) is a really nice position to be in, and the only hit I think is worth it is (b) because of Rooney's fixtures and form, Enrique has more chance of returning points in DGW and Surman will be new bench warmer.
