David Moyes is full of praise for Royston Drenthe. The injury doubts rack up for Arsenal ahead of tonight’s game with Milan. Pablo Zabaleta is set to be sidelined with a hamstring problem, Darren Bent undergoes successful ankle surgery, while Swansea decide against appealing Nathan Dyer’s three-match ban:

David Moyes has been praising Royston Drenthe ahead of Everton’s upcoming double gameweek. The Dutchman has been a source of frustration for Fantasy managers this term –he has started two games in a row only twice in the current campaign- but last week saw him rewarded a role on the right for the Toffees against QPR. Drenthe grabbed a goal at QPR and, with Landon Donovan back in the US after the completion of his loan deal, he looks set to battle Seamus Coleman for a chance on the flank. With Steven Pienaar also unavailable to play against parent club Spurs, Drenthe is seeing a fair amount of Fantasy investment ahead of next week and his manager admits he’s starting to earn his trust:

It’s taken him time to settle. He came from Real Madrid and you think they will come and understand what we do here. But they don’t straight away. There’s a lot more of the defensive side of the game we need him to be part of. He can’t just do what he wants. He’s beginning to do a bit better and can do much better. He has that ability to score, to create a chance. We’re beginning to trust him much more now.

Arsene Wenger revealed Arsenal have plenty injury worries ahead of tonight’s Champions League game against Milan. Four-nil down from the first leg, the Gunners need something of a miracle at the Emirates if they are to overcome the deficit but will be short of midfield options tonight. Yossi Benayoun is out through illness, Abou Diaby has picked up a hamstring problem and Mikel Arteta needs a week’s rest after his head knock at Anfield last weekend. Thomas Rosicky is also a doubt for Wenger in the middle of the park, while Kieran Gibbs is struggling to overcome a groin problem. The Arsenal boss revealed no players will be rested as he attempts to haul back the Italians’ lead, with Robin Van Persie set to lead the line against the Serie A leaders.

Pablo Zabaleta is set for a spell on the sidelines after picking up a hamstring injury in City’s weekend win over Bolton. The full-back limped out of the proceedings with less than 20 minutes on the clock and with Micah Richards also injured, Kolo Toure stepped in to replace the Argentine at right-back. Richards’ Fantasy owners have been stung by Roberto Mancini’s recent rotation policy, which saw the right-back rested in Gameweek 25 and 26 and, despite Zabaleta’s upcoming absence, Toure’s versatility and experience during the title run-in could well see the Ivorian play a part in Mancini’s thinking over the vital final third of the season.

Darren Bent has undergone surgery on his injured ankle. The forward, who ruptured ligaments in the Gameweek 26 match at Wigan, is expected to return to full training in around 12 weeks’ time, according to Aston Villa. With the club struggling to find the net –just a single goal in their last three- young forward Andreas Weimann scored yet again for the reserves yesterday. Weimann bagged a couple of hat-tricks for Villa’s second string last week and was drafted into the first-team squad for the trip to Blackburn. Alex McLeish afforded him a single minute at Ewood Park but with Gabby Agbonlahor continuing to misfire, Weimann may be set for more game time over the next fortnight, with Fulham and Bolton both rolling up to Villa Park.

Swansea have decided against appealing the red card handed out to Nathan Dyer in the weekend win at Wigan. The winger received a three-match ban for a challenge on Jordi Gomez but, while the Welsh club view the decision as “extremely harsh”, they feel that an appeal could run the risk of an extension to the ban. Dyer will now miss games against City, Fulham and Everton and will not be available for selection until April 1- Wayne Routledge is odds-on to replace him on the flank, with the latter finding himself out of favour lately, having managed a mere 21 minutes gametime over the Swans’ last five matches.

Reports suggest Ashley Cole is a doubt for Chelsea’s FA Cup replay at Birmingham this evening. The left-back is said to have picked up the problem in Saturday’s 1-0 loss at West Brom and will be assessed prior to the St Andrews showdown.

Considering trading out Simpson with Kelly still in my squad...

    1. Has Kelly lost his spot even if recovers from injury?
    2. If so, replace Kelly for who at 4.2?
    2. Suggestions for defender to replace Simpson?

        ^ This is NOT science.

        1. We don't know but he was certainly first choice before the injury.
        2. Wait and see.
        3. I did the same but had the money to get Skrtel, I would be looking at Evans if money is tight and if even that is too much then you may have to settle for McAuley.

Surely McClean first sub? Just makes sense with a 3-4-3.

Possibly! Guess Sunderland at home, just with Cattermole and Sess out, hard to know whether they'll have great attacking potential, especially against Liverpool - guess it could be the other way round and McClean may get more chances though!

Captain is between Rooney and RVP, I'm ahead in my ML but only by around 8 or so, thinking Rooney so far although RVP often makes people pay for not captaining him!

And yes, Ba still has plenty of potential, I think many may learn (hopefully) that they were too quick to rid of him, he's scored against plenty of team, always has potential and Norwich next week 🙂

Liverpool against a Sunerland team without Sess or Cattermole. Who is Sunderlands top scorer? Who defends that backline for Sunderland so good he takes yellows for fun? 😉

Liverpool will comfortably beat Sunderland while also looking good on keeping a cleansheet, unless Bentdner is lucky enough to get a penalty.

I can see a Liverpool win by all means, I'd bet on a 2-1 perhaps 3-1 victory in their favour. I can't however, see Suarez being the architect and finisher that everyone is drooling over the prospect of happening for.

I just think it's too short term and damaging to see the DGW as crucial, it can work out well of course, but if Suarez and the Liverpool defenders fail to live up to the hopes people have for them then it's all in my favour 😀

            Bingo. Nice call.

            - Rooney is crucial until the end of the season.
            - Suarez is a worthwhile DGW punt and considering the volatile nature of his rise (and Ba's fall) it shouldn't cost too much value wise to switch back.
            - Surman is a makeweight until i get Siggy in GW30.

Would it have been very different had he scored the penalty? Say: 2,2,5? I dont really see how missing the penalty has much bearing on his future output.

Don't think I've ever been to a bar and said, "Can I have a Pepsi?"

Also don't think I've ever answered this question:

"Is Pepsi okay?" With a no. So this question really is completely pointless to me.

Wilcard attempt. Found RMT's annoying, but here I am falling into the trap.

    Reina
    Enrique BAE Evans
    Silva Dempsey Bale, Miyaichi
    Rooney Suarez VP.

Bench - Surman, Kelly, Shotton, - Bogdan

    Bank - big fat zero

Might then look into downgrading Silva to Valencia (if jhe looks like starting) next week for fixtures, and also to free up 2.4 million to upgrade a defender/midfielder as fixtures require.

Hate Suarez, but need to take punt as 50 points off mini league lead and also because his fixtures fall nicely for a switch to Ade in 31.

    Sound, stupid, etc?

Looking very decent apart from a few things.

Evra? Why not get in Kompany instead.

Senderos - Get in Kelly instead.

Toure - He might be rested soon as he has played game after game this season especially in the ACON considering he played the maximum amount of games possible and came back into the City team. Silva and Aguero were rested this week, whats not to say Yaya will be rested in one of the next upcoming games. Then you'll be forced to rely on Etherington....

Forwards look great, same as mine if I must add. 🙂

I guess as a back up, but for United attacking coverage I've gone for Rooney on his own, Evans for defence.

The game is about risk though so it could pay off, it's just whether he'll get suitable game time and looking at potential better options such as Miyachi, Pilky, Surman and McClean who are for the most part nailed on with good fixtures.

Suarez - if you're catching in your ML - it's a risk but could pay off

Rooney - not quite on form as RVP but is a potential differential as will likely get an assist or goal
