Last season the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) saw something of a gold rush in the budget bracket. The fast bucks ostentatiously displayed by early investors in the likes of Andy Carroll and Charlie Adam drew a torrent of fortune seekers in their wake, and a thriving seat of industry sprang up in the land of cut-price plenty.

A town in decline for much of this season, less prodigious yields from the newly promoted hopefuls turned many Fantasy managers away to more upmarket territory, but the resurgence of the budget performer in recent weeks is tempting hardy prospectors back to this unfashionable seam. From old favourites like Kevin Doyle to new men such as James McClean, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Grant Holt, the points are again flowing in the budget belt.

Here at The Scout we’ve got an eye on a budding cut-price acolyte of the Arsene Wenger academy, Bolton loanee Ryo Miyaichi. Signing for Arsenal after an impressive trial last winter, Miyaichi was immediately sent on loan to Feyenoord for the remainder of the season. Nicknamed “Ryodinho” by the Dutch media he was quick to make his mark in the Eredivisie, grabbing three goals and five assists in his twelve matches.

Featuring in the Gunners’ pre-season tour but subsequently destitute of competitive opportunities, Miyaichi was sent in January – like Jack Wilshere before him- to learn the Premier League ropes at Bolton. Scoring just four minutes into his full debut against Millwall in the FA Cup, he retained his starting berth wide left against Chelsea in the league the following weekend, emerging from that game streets ahead of the rest of the Bolton midfield across the board in our members’ OPTA data.

Named “Player of the Month” for February by the Bolton faithful on the basis of just one league start, and drawing gushing praise from Owen Coyle, Miyaichi’s place in the side looks secure, and his attacking potential could be given free reign over a run of fixtures that are the envy of his cut-price contemporaries (QPR avl BLA wol FUL).

Currently priced at a paltry 4.9, and with only 0.2% ownership, it likely that Miayaichi will not be flying under the radar for long. The rush for late-season differential gold is well under way, and prospecting is a notoriously tricky business. With price, fixtures and form aligning, however, the temporary Trotter could yield rich reward for those managers willing to invest in his Fantasy fortunes.

      Don't waste the funds on Adam...I'd roll with Kuyt. If you want a fat ass that tries to do too much get Frank. Charlie doesn't have the license to blast forward. Hence the number of failed hailmary/hollywood balls. It will only get worse when Stevie G is inserted.

          Ummm'kaaay....

          Clearly KD's tinkering with the big Geordie in the line-up has affected Kuyt's time. But since Kenny has finally figured out he can't play Carroll with his other horrible signings (see Adam, Henderson and Downing) we'll see if Charlie has a sniff, but something tells me other teams will play him like Arsenal did...close down the left foot when he gets the ball...

          scouting reports are not Charlie's friend.

          Some fool was in a Liverpool forum saying that Stevie G was one of their better holding mids behind 'The midget Spearing' and got laughed off. If Kenny didn't seem to hate all the foreigners on his team outside of Reina, then normal brained people would have begged him to play Fabio Aurelio who has played a grand total of 1 minute (yes that was in the 3-0 away win against Wolves).

      Doubt that, as VDV´s heatmap of coverage on the pitch is about as big as the kiddie section of the pool. Ade comes back for support in possession regardless of Defoe, Saha or VDV...because frankly their CM blows Parker and Sandro see way more (and do nothing) of the ball than Modric, Kranjcar or VDV. Bale´s busy flip-flopping sides of the field.

    And that's half-time. Momentum is with the hosts, but that early penalty means they need one more to turn the match on its head. Bale may have picked up a knock towards the end which could leave Redknapp without any subs in the second half, if he's withdrawn at the break.

Song does pick up cards, but does pick up the assists as well, it was either him or siggy and i dont like swans fixtures, its a punt when all said and done, have a nice ML lead anyway so guess can afford to do it, affords me to do aguero to rooney too.

      DON'T do the Rooney transfer until after WBA. Aguero won't be rested twice, and he won't be barren on the road forever. Maybe Song will stop passing to his imaginary friend.

    Am I right to have my captain's armband firmly planted on RVP this week? Team is:

    Kenny
    Kompany, Evans, Riise
    Dempsey, Silva, Bale, Miyaichi
    RVP, Rooney, Ade

      Don't like Ade's fixtures...or the way Tot. are playing. I would deal Bale. But other than those two you look gold.

    would you make any changes to this team? any moves would mean -4pts

    mig
    enrique skelly shotton
    silva demps moses mata
    rvp suarez ba

    walters, caulker, santon

    2.2m in bank im thinking caulker > evans for -4?

      Not going to gain you more than 4 points so I'd leave it, unless you have more transfers planned.

      if you're gonna take a hit I would do Ba to either Yak (Prog-Yak, Yakubu). Newcastle are heading for a skid. And please do remember Ba holders: Arsenal play an excellent HIGH-LINE and have been brilliant in employing the off-side trap. Also remember how well Arsenal are in snuffing out balls in the air. After that Ba owners will only take solace in set pieces and corners. Liverpool had 12-0 in corner opportunities and came out with nothing. A far cry from the inept Arsenal in defending set-pieces of earlier. Also I would change out Mata for a differential MF Morrison...AOC or even Kuyt.

      Just considering the same thing. He was first choice with King anyway but yeah it looks like it. Gallas coming back soon gives an option, but only for when King can't play back to back I'd think.
      I was going to get Friedel but might do Richards > Kaboul now.

    On my wildcard. Got the following team atm:

    ---------------Schwarzer - Ruddy-------------------
    Enrique - BAE - Evans - Kelly - McAuley
    Bale - Dempsey - Siggy - McClean - Silva
    ----------------RVP Rooney Suarez---------------

    Do I need Silva? Got £0 in the bank. Should I:

    A: Keep as is
    B: Silva+Kelly ---> Nani+Senderos
    C: Silva+McClean ---> Nani+Pilkington
    D: Silva+Ruddy --> Nani+Vorm/other GK
    E: Other

        Yeah, he costs 0.2 less than Ruddy. Do you think he is more likely to keep a clean sheet in the run in? Or do you think I can spend the extra 0.2 to upgrade a defender?

      Get rid of McClean...for an AOC or Miyachi; he's hit the wall and is thoroughly included in teams scout plans. McClean is a calculator the other two are Pentium processor equipped computers.

      And Sunderland (and McClean) are in for a time without Sess cover.
