It’s a tricky weekend for Fantasy managers. The upcoming FA Cup Sixth Round almost gives us as much concern as the four league fixtures over Saturday and Sunday themselves, with seven teams in action before the gameweek resumes in midweek. While the likes of Spurs and Chelsea could be ready to rotate ahead, sides such as Sunderland and Everton will be keen to field stronger lineups, with David Moyes particularly determined to atone for the Mersyeside derby defeat at Liverpool last Tuesday evening:

Moyes was typically vague ahead of the weekend home tie against Sunderland this morning. While Steven Pienaar is cup-tied for the Toffees and Darron Gibson remains sidelined with a knee problem, the Everton boss revealed he has a couple of concerns though, as usual, refused to name names:

We picked up a couple of niggling injuries from the game in midweek. I’ll need to see if they’re going to be fit and available for the game. We’re not sure yet, but we’ll wait and see.

Tony Pulis yesterday confirmed Thomas Sorensen will be in goal for this Sunday’s FA Cup trip to Liverpool. With the Potters boss keeping one keeper for cup competitions and one for the league, it seems to underline the fact that Asmir Begovic has jumped ahead of the Dane in the pecking order for top-flight matches. Pulis spoke more on the situation, going on to concede:

The great thing about the last couple of weeks is that Asmir’s come into the team and played really well. He’d had a spell in the team just before he was left out where he looked a little bit tired, a bit jaded and made a few mistakes. But he’s come back in refreshed and looked the part, and he deserves to be playing in the league. Now Thomas gets his chance.

With three matches in the next seven days, Owen Coyle has admitted he’ll make a couple of changes for Bolton’s FA Cup clash with Spurs. The Trotters boss looks likely to prioritise the upcoming league clashes against Villa and Blackburn as he plots his side’s bid for survival and with the likes of Marvin Sordell cup tied and Chris Eagles struggling with a hamstring strain, Coyle looks set to utilise his squad for the clash against Harry Redknapp’s side this Saturday.

David Luiz has revealed he is struggling to overcome an ankle problem ahead of Chelsea’s FA Cup game against Leicester. The centre-half admitted he played through the pain barrier in Wednesday’s Champions League win over Napoli and with John Terry failing to finish the match, the pair could well be two of several changes Roberto Di Matteo makes this weekend, with Wednesday’s league game at City also in his thinking.

Ryan Taylor and Cheik Tiote are continuing to be assessed ahead of Newcastle’s match with Norwich on Sunday. The former missed last Monday’s trip to Arsenal due to a calf problem, while the Magpies midfield enforcer limped out of the Emirates clash holding his thigh, with Alan Pardew hopeful Tiote’s problem was no more than cramp.

Sir Alex Ferguson was quick to point out the importance of Sunday’s trip to Wolves in last night’s Europa League press conference. While magnanimous in defeat, with United beaten in both legs by Athletic Bilbao, Ferguson quickly turned his attentions to domestic duties, indicating his thoughts are firmly on establishing a four point lead over City this weekend:

Obviously we now have to make sure we win on Sunday against Wolverhampton Wanderers. We decided to take off Rio Ferdinand, Michael Carrick and, eventually, Ryan Giggs because we have to think about Sunday.

While the Mail and Mirror both suggest Wayne Rooney is nursing a knock, United’s official site published an article on the possible doubts for the Wolves game earlier this morning- Rooney was not mentioned, suggesting he’s on course to continue his remarkable run of goalscoring form this weekend.

In his early morning Friday press conference, Paul Lambert announced new boy Johnny Howson has recovered from illness and is available for Norwich this weekend. While Daniel Ayala and Marc Tierney both remain sidelined, the pair are expected to return to training next week. James Vaughan is still on the road to recovery.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Anybody dare to predict the Ful back line for the w/e?

    Kelly/Hughes/Senderos, Hang, Risse

I believe there are plenty of worried Kelly/ Senderos owners

Hmm. Kelly was an injury doubt, supposed to be out, and then played 90 minutes? Shouts of "first choice" to me

So its either Hughes or Senderos according to you? But Hughes wasn't fit back then, the coach had no choice but to rush into playing Kelly

I think Kelly will play. It's a coin toss then between Senderos and Hughes.

Senderos really should play in the middle over Aaron Hughes, but we'll see. I have Senderos so...

Hughes started over him a few weeks ago but he was coming back from injury so I think Senderos will start.

I think the team news section has it right.

Senderos & Hangeland in the middle, Riise on the left.
Could be Hughes or Kelly at right back. I expect Kelly.

Dempsey, Murphy, Duff/Ruiz & Dembele across the midfield with Johnson & Pogrebnyak up front.

You don't need to worry about Tott attack until gw31. You need Rooney. But if you want a utd mid i would say Young, at least until Valencia gets starts. Not sure who to get rid of though, Mata might be a rotation risk, and i'm not sure about Silva.

Ferguson said a few weeks back that Utd had the option to take up his contract and would be doing so.

So think we have done that to get a fee or if we are allowing him to go on a free, then we have control of his destination.

Silva is superior to Ya Ya and Valencia is Nailed on if he comes back leaving Young and Nani to fight out for the other wing.

I'd sit tight. Young is too much of a rotational risk and If Valencia doesn't make it McLean is an adequete sub

Chelsea are the most fresh squad in EPL right now. For Mancini it's the last game, after a loss there will be zero reason for City owners to keep him in position - position that he was never capable for in the first place.

Fresh in mind - area where City are most fatigued.

It's not about playing 120 mins, it's about being March and season just starting right for them (with 'the shit one' out).

I think this is crap. City last night were good, nearly came back from 2 nil down to win 4-2!
              City are at home.
              Sunderland are away.
              Silva > McClean every day.

You simply cant start McClean over Silva. Sell Silva rather, for someone who you will start. A 10+ mid must start every week imo

Current team for this week is

    Vorm (ful) (Sorensen)
    Kompany (CHE)/Senderos(SWA)/Evans(wol)/Simpson(NOR)
    Dempsey(SWA)(vc)/Valencia(wol)/Siggurdson(ful)
    Rooney(wol)(c)/RVP(eve)/Ba(NOR)

    Subs: Sinclair(ful)/Miyaichi(villa)/Taiwo(LIV)

    1 FT: 1.6m in bank

With Kompany unlikely to feaure and Valencia a doubt, I might be relying on the squad members so where should I concentrate on in the transfers.

Looking at bringing in the likes of Morrison(wig/NEW/eve/BLA/mci), McAuley and/or Caulker (and his great bps) and need to get rid of Taiwo (and possibly Sinclair to make room for Caulker). In addition, there switch from Dempsey to Bale for GW31 is high on my list of priorities.

Do I simply switch Taiwo -> McAuley before price falls or go for make room for Caulker by switching Sinclair to Morrison (probably dropping Siggy to bench)?

The choice here is between WBA defender and WBA midfielder. The first saves money while the second makes room for a swansea defender (already own 3 SWA players)

If SWA do get a penalty, will Sinclair not take it? That's tough. On reflection, Morrison is aa good shout, keep siggy. Though it's a shame to leave any of your cheapo mids on the bench with their fixtures, esp when you may struggle to put 3 playing defs out.

I think so. I did it without a hit, but for me Silva looks jaded, and has gone off the boil recently. In the league at least Young is bang in form against a Wolves side who make Wigan look like Liverpool defensively. IMO Young and Rooney are must-haves this week.

(Note I said this about Richards, Silva and Aguero prior to Bolton and accept no responsibility if the above statement turns out to be utter crap)

Interesting Stat for those doubling up on Newcastle's defence:

Norwich are the in form team away from home with 4wins & 2draws (9goals for & 9against).

Newcastle are 6th in the home form table with also 4 wins & 2draws (11goals for & 5 Against)

IMO this game has goals in it for both teams...

Well I wouldn't put monery on it or anything, but that's just the feeling I get.

Think back to the many similar fixtures this season where everyone anticipates a mauling, then the moaning on here that happens when it turns out to be a low key affair.

You're also putting all your eggs in Rooney. Even if Man Utd score a few, it doesn't necessarily mean Rooney will be the one involved in all the goals.

Also the players you are thinking about taking out (Suarez, Yak), themselves have obliging opponents, so all in all I just think your points hits are far too high.

4 points? Maybe. 8 points? Starting to get a bit much.

Yep, but you're having to dismantle your team to get there. If you're that desperate to get him in, go the simplest route. Imo Downing out should be your biggest priority by far! Even if he scores 30 over the next 2 gws, the shame man! B, B , B all the way

that's B. But no guarantees, right?

I wish I could give myself this sort of advice. It would really help me.

To chasers, not leaders, in mini leagues,

Is a big rush on United and other hot players for a potential hit or two the right strategy? I am thinking that if everyone above me has them already in the fold, then pulling them in could well be pointless for this next stretch since no differential would be made. Cue ridiculous out of form players transferred in, obscene captain picks, and a 14 point week.

I am sure that mini league leaders read these posts and cackle, but it might be golden goal time soon.

No differential will score more than Rooney for the rest of the season. Look for differentials elsewhere, where it is less certain which player will score most. If your rival has him and you don't then he scores more than you.

Well said. Not sure how logic and reason will help me with a miracle, but you are quite right here.

if either Welbeck or Chicharito starts every game maybe they can outscore Roonpig-- but Saf will rotate them

If you're leading all your leagues, it's time to broaden horizons and join more challenging ones.

All the leagues I'm in include people I know, there's no fun in beating strangers! Primary objective every year is finish up ahead of my brother πŸ™‚

Primary objecctive, sure. You got to get the basics right! No, I'm just having a dig at "league leaders", and that includes me.

That depends on how much you are chasing. I think I need 50+ so happy to hedge the united team while looking elsewhere for differentials.

For me it is too risky not to have three Utd players in your team right now
