With six sides currently facing a blank Gameweek 34, our regular look at Frisking of the Fixtures is slightly affected this week. While there’s every chance those missing matches could be scheduled for the same Gameweek, at present we are leaving those teams to one side and focusing on the sides that presently have a definite fixture in place.

For the moment, we’re also omitting Bolton, due to the uncertainty over their upcoming schedule, in light of Fabrice Muamba’s current condition…

The Strong

Man United

The champions continue to rack at the goals at an eye-catching rate in their attempt to reclaim the title. Sunday’s 5-0 win at Wolves was the latest in a run of games that has seen them net two or more goals in all but one fixture since Gameweek 15. Antonio Valencia’s return looks timely, with the Ecuadorian once again proving a key performer in United’s offensive ploys- priced at 7.5, the transfers-in are already racking up.

Wayne Rooney may have drawn a rare blank but his form remains strong; seven goals in his last five appearances is likely to see plenty more Fantasy managers draft in the forward. Javier Hernandez served a reminder of his differential potential with a brace at Wolves, while Jonny Evans’ goal and clean sheet made a mockery of his 4.8 price tag. With (FUL,bla, QPR, wig, AVL) to follow in the next five, the fixture list continues to offer plenty potential for the red half of Manchester.

Arsenal

An obliging schedule is on the cards for Arsene Wenger’s side, with Robin Van Persie set to be locked in constant battle with Rooney for the Fantasy Premier League captain’s armband. Home games against Villa and Wigan offer the Gunners skipper strong opportunities to rack up the points and extend his lead as the top Fantasy points scorer, while trips to QPR and Wolves are equally enticing. Arsenal also play host to City and Chelsea in the next six but, given that they’ve just seen off Sunderland, Spurs, Liverpool and Newcastle in such resilient fashion, confidence is sky-high right now.

Theo Walcott will surely see an upturn in Fantasy ownership – over 56,000 have drafted the winger in over the past three Gameweeks due to his recent performances. Alex Song’s steady rate of assists offers a decent mid-price option, while Thomas Vermaelen’s eye for goal and Bacary Sagna’s delivery from out wide have been fundamental in the Gunners’ chase of north London rivals Tottenham in the race for third.

Stoke

The installation of Asmir Begovic in goal seems to have steadied the Stoke ship. The Potters arrived at Chelsea last week on the back of a two-match winning run, with no goals conceded; an act of folly from Ricardo Fuller mean the visitors were forced to play most of the match with ten men and narrowly lost 1-0. Stoke’s short-term fixtures look appealing, even with a home game with City this upcoming weekend; given that Roberto Mancini’s side have notched just two goals in their last six away games, a home clean sheet is even a possibility.

Pulis’ side then face two of the bottom three – a trip to Wigan and a home game with Wolves – before heading to Villa. Victories in all three looks feasible, with Matt Etherington’s form on the wing likely to be crucial to their chances. Begovic and the likes of Robert Huth also offer clean sheet potential, with Ryan Shotton a cut-price out of position option, albeit a slightly risky one, given Pulis’ penchant for rotation. Andy Wilkinson is your budget option – with perhaps that little more security than the forward-thinking Shotton.

Also Consider

Swansea – with three straight wins and no goals conceded, Brendan Rodgers’ side are showing no sign of slipping as the season heats up. Home games against Everton and Newcastle, with a trip to White Hart Lane sandwiched in between, would normally be classified as tricky but, given the Welsh side’s form, a couple of wins from those three would not be surprising. Games against QPR, Blackburn and Bolton then follow – the likes of Steven Caulker, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Danny Graham offer cut-price potential right through the spine of the team.

West Brom – the Baggies have three winnable home games in the next five, as Newcastle, Blackburn and QPR all roll up to the Hawthorns. If Peter Odemwingie recovers from a calf problem, investment in the Nigerian looks certain, given his recent form. James Morrison offers cut-price potential in midfield, though with Roy Hodgson admitting he intends to utilise his squad over the remainder of the season, question marks may be raised against many of their players.

The Weak

Blackburn

The next five gameweeks offer Steve Kean’s side little optimism as the Ewood Park outfit continue their battle against the drop. A home clash against United affords the champions a chance of avenging the Gameweek 19 reverse at Old Trafford, while Liverpool also pay visit to Lancashire, with the Reds beginning to return to form following Steven Gerrard’s comeback from injury. Rovers may struggle to pick up points, with just three wins in the last eleven in front of their own supporters.

While the Gameweek 28 win at Wolves boosted the confidence and registered a first clean sheet of the season, Terry Connor’s side are clearly in free-fall. Trips to in-form Swansea and West Brom hardly bode well for Kean’s troops and, with next weekend’s trip to Bolton possibly up in the air, Yakubu and co may find it hard pushed to produce for their Fantasy owners.

Aston Villa

With the midweek home game against Bolton now postponed, Alex McLeish’s side have some work to do if they are to accumulate points over the upcoming Gameweeks. An improvement at the back, with Carlos Cuellar alongside James Collins, has seen them ship just two goals in their last four but the absence of Darren Bent up front has hit hard, with only three goals scored since the end of Gameweek 23.

Currently on 33 points, an upcoming schedule that reads (ars, CHE, liv, STO, mun, SUN) suggests Villa’s season may go down to the wire if they are to avoid the drop. The likes of Cuellar will be pivotal at the back if the Villains are to profit from the next six Gameweeks.

QPR

Mark Hughes’s side have a horrendous run of upcoming fixtures, with the schedule simply merciless on the off-form Loftus Road outfit. Home games against Arsenal, Swansea and Tottenham, in addition to trips to Sunderland, United and West Brom, suggest their Premier League prospects could well be doomed before long. Faith in the likes of Djibril Cisse and Bobby Zamora as Fantasy prospects is likely to quickly diminish over such a punishing period, with points looking particularly hard to come by as Hughes seeks to mastermind an escape from the drop zone.

Also Be Wary Of

Sunderland – in the short term, at least, the Black Cats have three tricky tests in the next four. While this weekend’s home clash with QPR looks promising for the returning Stephane Sessegnon, Martin O’Neill’s outfit then face visits to City and Everton and, with Sunderland picking up a single away clean sheet since O’Neill’s installation, both matches could spell trouble for owners of the likes of Simon Mignolet. With a home game against Spurs sandwiched in between, the Wearsiders may struggle for consistent returns before an upturn in fixtures in Gameweek 34.

Wigan – a glance at the season ticker suggests Roberto Martinez looks to have his work cut out if the Latics are to avoid the drop. Wigan have Liverpool, Chelsea, United and Arsenal in the next six, with a trip to Fulham also thrown in. Indeed, the most favourable fixture in their next six is a home clash against Stoke but with a single home win all season, the clouds are gathering over the DW Stadium right now. Despite renewed faith in Victor Moses after a goal and assist in the last couple of Gameweeks, the 5.0 priced midfielder may well be returning two-pointers once again.

Wait and see what happens wednesday. If Silva has a good game, people might hold him. Plus still much uncertainty around United mids,.....Nani, Young, Val

If i had to guess.....i would say siggy NOT valencia

    My Team:

    Vorm
    cahill/jones/simpson/enrique
    mclean/siggy/bale/valencia
    rooney/RVP

is it crazy to bench dempsey and Pog for GW30? (also benching Taylor(swa))
I know jones might not play either, was thinking about having dempsey as my first on the bench if that happens.
    Thoughts?

well the villa/bolton game was postponed this week so they should have a DGW in the future and I'm not sure why but Tottenham and bolton aren't playing in GW35 so they might have DGW's as well. Not sure though :/

What to do with Dave? I was going to upgrade him to adebayor in GW31, especially as he looks like he will sit out tougher away games when we will go one up front. But now he has scored 3 crackers in the 6 games he has played, and looks like he will get more when he settles. Now I'm thinking of keeping him and rotating him with a mid. My rash barfa purchase at the weekend messes up that plan a bit though.

If I do stick with dave, I will have plenty of cash to play with, especially after I get valencia for silva before the weekend. Any idea what I can do with it? I'm thinking VDV for Dempsey in a few weeks time, if he is back up top and in form.

    Who will win this H2H?

    Kompany, Baines & Suarez... OR... G.Johnson, Huth + 8pts...(if GJ doesn't play he'll get Caulker's 6pts)

I know it all hangs on Suarez scoring and maybe a Baines assist to turn it in my favour... 😕

Going purely on stats, Siggy seems to prefer playing away from home.. all his 3 double figure scores are away... this suggests to me that anyone taking a hit this week won't get the immediate return... but will of course get have him nonetheless for future games...

If your willing to lose a few points this week to have him, then I would take the hit and risk it...

        If not, then hold fire...

          my future plans were:

          GW31 ba> pog
          GW32 reocoker>siggy

so should i just hold off on the hit? wouldnt want away to spurs and dont think he'll return double digits twice in a row vs a decent everton defence.

I'm 16pts worse off for thinking the very same thing... 🙁

Im in the same boat man, looking to get Ziggy in for Moses and also for a hit. I think its a good move since the fixtures are nice and swans look like a team that can score against anyone right now(if you are worried about the next 2)

I will wait for the games to be finished to see if I have any injuries in my midfield before making the move. But wont wait if I see his going up in price.

                that is true

Realised the guy in 3rd has been coming up fast. He has 45 this week as well. To gain on me he needs BAE and ShawX to outperform Skrtel and McLean.

Guy behind me has 32 with BAE, Yaya, Henderson and McLean. So he needs 15 points form them.

reo-coker. Just saves me the hassle of getting him later and missing out on another big haul.

        Was planning on:
        gw31 ba > pog
        gw32 reocoker > sig

just not sure if i want to wait, ill be taking a hit in gw32 to bring in lampard regardless, so might as well do it now right?

I'm stumped this gw. 2 free trades. Valencia has to come in, that's the easy part. Who to sell? Silva? Keep Dempsey? I have a feeling his run might have come to an end? Keep Walters for CITY/wigan/WOLVES? Leave Siggy until gw 32?

Ba has run of low scores have put the spanner in my team's wheels. Tempted with the ugly duckling! Then again Wigan seems to be up for a fight until the end...

    😕

Ok so here's my two cents.

Silva > Valencia (no-brainer imo) that will free up funds for:
      Walters > Walcott

that would leave you with a mid of: bale-demps-walcott-valencia-mcclean. Ruthless and awesome imo.

then mcclean (fixtures turn nasty after next week for a couple weeks) to siggy for GW 32 to 36, when he'll be a must have (on form, fixtures and cost). Everton can be stubborn in defence so I wouldn't expect a goalfest. interesting observation from zep also. Can you afford to wait.....he'll probably go up 0.2 or 0.3 before then....

But no Siggy. He is the one player I want gw 32-36. Also want cash for Lamps/Drogba for gw 32. I would consider Walcott only after Ars have played City.

I'd now wait till the City match before choosing between Silva or Dempsey. Valencia has already gone up in price so it will be another couple of days before he goes up again. Also I'd get Siggy asap as well with your other trade

        Walters/McClean > Siggy
        Silva/Dempsey > Valencia

I'd keep Walters as Fuller should be out so I'd say Walters will play OOP. Stoke also has a good run of fixtures after the Citeh game. He rotates nicely with Dempsey home and away too. You have time to see how the players go this GW anyway so don't do anything rash yet

agree on valancia, disagree on mcclean. siggy, who has everton, can wait a week, whilst mcclean has qpr at home, so 50/50. save the hit and pts, bring him in next week, thats my plan...

Think I might just wait with Siggy until gw 32. That was the plan anyway, until he destroyed Ful. He has gone up in price, but I'm not worried about funds/prices at this stage of the season.

ok fokks thoughts on my transfer plans

GW31 Ba ➡ Ade and Bale ➡ Andrews
    GW32: Dempsey ➡ Lampard
    GW33: Taiwo ➡ Kaboul and Santon ➡ Sagna (-4)

Am very happy with how my team will look from GW33

    Schwarzer/Mingolet

    Evans, Skrtel, Kaboul, Sagna, Caulker

    Young, Lampard, Siggy, McLean, Andrews

    Ade, RvP, Rooney

Young can easily become Valencia if needs be, and Andrews is there to rotate with McLean as i will play Lamps, Young/Valencia and Siggy every week (bar GW37)

    Quick poll please guys?

1 ft. 1.2 in the bank

    A) Raylor > Olsson (or Turner.. basically transfer Raylor out?)
    B) Kompany > Vermaelen/Sagna (or any defender imaginable)
    C) Graham > Yak
    D) Silva/Dempsey > Valencia (I don't think Valencia will start next game unless at RB.. which is not a lot of points. But I do want him for later)

    Team is:

    Vorm (So-notgoingtoplay-renson)

    Kompany, Enrique, Raylor, JEvans, Kelly

    Silva, Bale, Dempsey, Siggurdsson, Moses

    RvP, Rooney, Graham

clearly don't need Graham. Defense is a mess, but my expensive mids are running out of form.

    Any help much appreciated!

Nice. You look set for a top 1k finish. Your strategy of no hits earlier in season worked out perfect. "Less is often more" in FPL.

Scary to think if i had Siggy's points in my team this week I would have been ranked +/- 5k higher at 7k overall. Very tight.

Wish I took some more hits earlier tbh. Wish I ended up with Young instead of Nani, would have another 6 points. Went for the riskier choice & paid the price. Top 1K would be nice but I'd rather win my mini league. A few better captain choices would make a big difference too.

Okay in summary here's how it's looking now:

    Krul, Mig
Evans, Cahill, BAE, Caulker, Kelly (F)
    Valencia, Bale, Silva, McClean, Yaya
    Rooney, RVP, Ba

This GW: Silva to Gerrard for 4pt hit, depending on their performances mid week.
    Next GW: McClean to Siggy
After That: Deal with Ba and Kelly

Pick some holes in that, sure there are plenty......

True, but I suppose that the case for most team ranked on the log where Pool is.

Gerrard is back so things should go better. Scored 3 vs Ever and 2 in Fa cup vs Stoke. Will see how they go vs Qpr later this week.

I'm just looking at fixtures and thinking Suarez shirley will do better in WIGAN/new/VILLA/black/FUL/WBA/nor then Ba in wba/POOL/swans/BOLT/---STOKE/wigan.

                Maybe not?

    morning all.

been looking around the site this morning and i still don't get the Young > Valencia reasoning.

i was always planning to bring one of them in GW28 and i chose Young. fair enough, not many people saw him being benched for 90 minutes but to use an FT to remove a 9.9m midfielder (who scored 30 points in his 3 previous games) playing for the top team in a home game is madness.

week after week people stick with Silva and Ba because "they will come good" but in Youngs case it seems that the knees are a-jerking and people are chasing last weeks points. i'm playing Young again this week because i don't believe SAF will bench him 2 weeks in a row and risk demoralising him in the last stretch of the season.

i guess people will say that i'm trying to justify my purchase and that's fine, it's just my opinion.

he will play but valencia just outputs better numbers in terms of fantasy points, as well is a fair bit cheaper which lets you upgrade elsewhere.

Look at their histories and it will all be clear to you 😉

oh, i understand that Valencia is the better option in most things (price, consistency, returns etc).

i just don't get the people who bought him in last week and are willing to use an FT to ship him out without him playing a single minute for their team.

he's a LOT cheaper yes, but points>value. i guess for a 4 point hit, still not worth it for me. especially when they come from the same team. unless im planning to get anyone else in that particular gw.

I've done Young->Valencia for next Gameweek.

      He's cheaper
      More consistent
He will play more than Young imo
United are in no other competitions and therefor roatation won't be as much of a threat.
Valencia was fantastic against Wolves, i bought him after seeing his performance.

        1. Agree (obviously)
        2. More consistent? Young has a higher average p90min.
        3. Debatable but your probably right
        4. Not a rotation threat? I'm pretty sure being involved in less competitions make him more of a rotation threat. Players like Nani and Young will see gametime between now and the end of the season period
        5. Young has also been fantastic in the last few games, why would he suddenly be out in the cold.

Well , i dont agree with thread starter.

Have just gone Yoiung to Valencia myself. Bought Young in two weeks ago (because Valencia injured)
However Valencia by far the better option

        1) More nailed on to play when fit
        2) 2.4 million cheaper

Dont think you can underestimate the importance of the price difference , was having to roll with Myachi AND Surnam ro accomodate Young , now can upgrade Surnam to someone decent

Young has been in and out of both form and the starting eleven
Silva has been the most consistent player until his recent slump/rest
      Ba provided terrific value

I say all three comes with caveats, but Young is the weakest link imho. He never got near my team.

complete agrees with you. not that im denying Valencia is better. no doubt he's better than young performance wise and cost, but getting him in for a 4 point hit and transferring young out when he didn't even played YET is a waste, whats the point of you getting him in then.

If you don't need the cash then Young's your man and you get to save a transfer.

What I do think we can all agree on is Nani's gametime really looks threatened by Young, Valencia, Welbeck (also now playing on the wing) and Pea.

If you've got Nani (who also seems to have a mysterious illness, in addition to being a bit out of form/favour?) get rid asap, I think is fair advice.

soccer, football, same thing you numpty. So if a striker plays on the wing one game vs one of the worst sides in the league he is now a winger forever?? use you're brain. Welbeck is a striker, and must fight for his PT with hernandez and berbatov. Nani/Young will battle it out with Valencia on the other wing. You should really try to use common sense sometimes.

what he's telling you is that, IF and only IF Welbeck plays as a winger A-G-A-I-N(IF), Velancia/Nani/Young places will be a uncertain. thats all he's saying, if a striker plays at wings, ONE of valencia/Young/Nani might not play, THATS ALL HE'S SAYING, why wont you guys understand it that way. not like he's saying Welbeck will play as a winger forever and eternity or whatnot.

i had a sneaky feeling that Valencia might play but went with Young as a "safer option".

it was the wrong choice but i'm not going to get rid of him because SAF chose not to play him. if he had been on the pitch maybe he would also have scored two against a poor WOL side.

Right but the point is that Valencia's healthy meaning he should play over Young (at least according to past history - looking at GWs 15-25 until Tony V's injury). Unless you think Young will surely play next GW since Nani is a bit of a doubt.
