As the games count down to the 10 yellow card amnesty due on Easter Sunday, the eagle-eyed amongst you will have noticed Stoke captain Ryan Shawcross sneak barely heralded onto our Suspension Tightrope thanks to a yellow card in the FA Cup defeat to Liverpool at the weekend. He therefore joins Arsenal centre-back Laurent Koscielny on nine yellows for the season and their attempts to navigate the next three games without further indiscretion will be closely monitored around these parts.

Both players were in action in the Wednesday night end to Gameweek 29, Koscielny in the win over Everton and Shawcross for the point gained at Spurs, but both emerged unsullied to fight another day. Their next games home against Villa (Arsenal) and Man City (Stoke), with referees Dowd (average 4 yellow cards per game) and Webb (3 per game) in charge, will therefore be watched with greater interest.

Skipping the nervous wait for suspension in the Gameweek 29 schedule was Wolves defender Ronald Zubar, whose two needless yellow cards in the hosting of Manchester United certainly contributed to the mauling that ensued. Already 1-0 down through Jonny Evans’ first goal in United colours, Zubar brought down first Wayne Rooney and then Danny Welbeck less than 12 minutes later to make a difficult task virtually impossible for struggling manager Terry Connor. Zubar will now sit out the Gameweek 30 clash at Norwich while his manager attempts to rally the troops.

GAMEWEEK 30 BANS

  • Ricardo Fuller (STO) – 1 Red for violent conduct (last of 3 matches)
  • Lee Cattermole (SUN) – 1 Red for foul and abusive language and 10 Yellows (last of 4 matches)
  • Nathan Dyer (SWA) – 1 Red for serious foul play (last of 3 matches)
  • Ronald Zubar (WOL) – 1 Red for 2 Yellows (1 match)

Haven't seen it in the Tweets, but the Bolton vs Blackburn game is definitely on this weekend.

Anyone want to play a little game whilst waiting for the updates. You list a striker for the much talked about 3rd slot and give reasons for his inclusion.

    I'll start then. Steven Fletcher:

    - Prolific goalscorer when fit.
    - In a team that is threatened by relegation, so could see an upsurge in performance.
    - Good fixtures apart from GW 33 & 35 (although he likes scoring against the big teams too).

        Liverpool's fixtures look good.

If only Suarez could hit the net rather than the post. If points were awarded for that he'd probably be on over 500 by now.

I still don't think Rooney and RVP are as essential as people seem to think they are on here(well, maybe the dutch maestrois).

For the same reason people are listing strikers in relegation threatened teams, I would like to give a shout out to Mr Kun Aguero.

City have got to score and win their games. They are now a point behind Man U AND their superior goal difference has lost a lot of ground to the title holders.

I think with Tevez back in the frame, Aguero is the only safe bet up front. We have yet to see how an Aguero and Tevez partnership will work out. But I for one, think it could be devastating.

You know what I'm not looking forward to at all next season? Even if RVP leaves, whereever he goes he's going to be worth a lot on FPL. Arsenal fans have loved how FPL have priced him. He's always been a must-have when fit, but it seemed like for the past two seasons he would play like two games, get an injury that lasted months and then go on a goal spree. So they would just wait until he finished a full 90, get him cheap since his price would drop due to the injury, and then get him next weekend. Then wait for the goals to come in like dividends, except on near weekly basis. No more. Even if he does continue to score goals like made, not sure he'd be worth it.

Dempsey vs Norwich next week so he stays for that at least. I've already brought Valencia in this week, so not missing anything there.

Yeah, maybe Santon ... to be fair, I think we'll concede and I think Spurs will concede so don't think that one will make much difference.

Don't be, its away. Dempsey sucks away - like Mata and Aguero.
in fact a great combination is Mata and Dempsey, which afforrds you a great albeit expensive rotation.

I say get rid of both of the WCs. Well, have something in January, but more of a 4 or 5 FTs thing rather than a full on overhaul. The game should be rewarding players who carefully plan their squad, not offering unlimited transfers to those who have mucked theirs up.

For cost-cutting reasons, Fantasy Premier League is staffed by pensioners (predominantly those who lost their jobs on the much-missed pick'n'mix counters in Woolworths). They went on strike yesterday evening after being clobbered by George Osborne's "granny tax" in the Budget.

Premier League officials, on the other hand, went on a huge cocaine-fuelled binge to celebrate the announcement that the top rate of income tax for high-earners would be reduced from 50p to 45p. They've been too hungover to get into work today, and so haven't noticed yet that the bolshy pensioners didn't crochet the auto-substitutions onto the FPL site as per usual.

No more Werther's Originals for the FPL OAPs, I fear.
