With over 1,400 entries received, Gameweek 29 has whittled down the first round participants of the Paddy Power Cup VI to just 512. A qualifying score of 56 was required to guarantee a first round berth alongside our five former champions. For those scoring 55 you need to click here for the full results, and nervously scroll down towards the 500 mark.

On with the draw then, and the full set of 256 fixtures can be viewed right here.

The former cup winners are always the ones to watch – especially the defending champion – and it’s Tommyboy that is charged with the giant-killing of Paddy Power Cup V winner sleepingmaster.

Before sleepingmaster it was Ninja_Fit_Saints who wore the crown, and he’s involved in what is arguably the tie of the round against Marvellus.

Our inaugural winner, donnellyc, is now making his fifth attempt at regaining his title. His first hurdle this time round is jon13597493.

Now on the books with the Scout, Paddy Power Cup II winner Jonty closed the 2009/10 season on the ultimate high. He’s once again looking to reach those heights, and it’s Mull standing in his way.

Perhaps the biggest name of them all though is Gooner dave. Not only did he win the third edition of this competition, but he threatened to lift the Members version several weeks later. Looking to stop the juggernaut immediately in his tracks is ralphypne.

All ties are to be played across Gameweek 30. Good luck to all 512 fantasy managers competing in round one, and commiserations to those missing the cut on this occasion.

and me, of course main rival owns him and guy I'm chasing down in another league does, but he has Suarez over Rooney. I've slowly got his lead down for 60 to 15, a Rooney hat-trick would see me go past him I think.

Schwarzer, Taiwo, Santon, Dempsey is mine currently, though not sure about sub order. Traore is injured, so think Taiwo might be back in.

Yeah bench order has been bothering me too, keep thinking that having potentially 2 Toon defenders (Krul and Simpson) on the pitch should I need my first sub would not be a grand idea. The only alternative I have to that is Demps though, who I suppose is the most likely to cause upset at United if anyone.

Fulham conceded 3, at home, to Swansea last week.

Fulham have improved their road record, and ManU's goals come from everywhere.

Not enough assurance that Rooney will be apart of any slaughterfest.

RvP is usually good for 1 goal, and Villa give away goals form free kicks..

Everything you say is spot on and yet I feel more nervous giving the armband to Rooney. It's just the thought of settling down to watch the game on Monday night and finding out that Wellbeck and Hernandez both start and then listening to the commentators raving about how brilliantly Rooney is running the show from deep in the middle of the park, just like Wolves all over again!

At least RVP will be guaranteed to be playing up front and therefore likely to be central to anything the Gunners do. Also Villa are poor from set pieces and RVP does hog a lot of them.

It's a tough one and if I knew Rooney would be up front I may well have picked him but the uncertainty over that one factor makes me think RVP. I dunno, prob change my mind 20 times between now and deadline!

On the 7 occaisons where he failed to score since GW 5, he has followed his blank with at least 1G & 1A in very next next week.

I have a similar problem but have decided to play Vorm and Caulker. Its a risk but Everton have had a tough schedule and don't score many. Also Swansea have kept 3 clean sheets in a row

thinking of dumping him for Verm, even though generally I wouldn't advocate a 4 pont hit for a defensive change

both City and Arse seem to have similarly tough fixtures at first glance and with 9 games to go I think I need to have someone who is sure of playing every game, I'm not really sure sure who I can say that about in the City line up at the moment (Hart apart)

I spose the 'bonus' if you like is Verm's proven scoring threat, though no doubt his goals will dry up now everyone brings him in

anyone else got any thoughts? similar decision to make?

I am currently 4pts ahead of my rival in my mini league. Not sure if its worth taking a hit. I have 1FT. Thinking ditching Ba. HELP HELP please.

Firstly if you take a hit your rival will have caught you up before any of the games kick off.

Personally I would keep your team and make 2 changes next week with no hit!

      I have both

I hear all the arguments for Rooney

I am fully prepared to be wrong, but I am going with RVP, past performance is of course not always a guide to future performance 🙂 but opposing RVP as captain has generally not been a great strategy most GWs this season

If I'm wrong I'll live with it

I think it would hurt more if I was wrong the 'other way' 🙂

Unfortunately I have to play either Dempsey or Pogrebnyak, which do you think is more likely to get anything ( I know either is unlikely!)

    Your considered opinions are appreciated

    Team is:

    Vorm
    Skertl, BAE, Simpson (Rangel, Bardsley)
Bale, Valencia, Sigurdsson, Walcott -Poss Dempsey?
    RVP, Roonpig - Poss Pogrebnyak?
