Premier League champions Manchester United close out Gameweek 30 at home to Fulham. With a seemingly routine opportunity to open a three-point gap over city rivals, the Dugout Discussion opens to witness the potential fantasy points feast.

The team news for the clash at Old Trafford is in. Here is how the two sides line-up…

Man Utd XI: De Gea, Evra, Ferdinand, Evans, Rafael, Carrick, Giggs, Valencia, Rooney, Young, Welbeck.

Fulham XI: Schwarzer, Kelly, JA Riise, Hangeland, Hughes, Diarra, Dempsey, Pogrebnyak, Duff, Frei, Dembele.

Sir Alex makes two changes from the eleven that battered Wolves last week, with Ryan Giggs and Ashley Young replacing Paul Scholes and Javier Hernandez respectively.

Three changes for the visitors with Aaron Hughes, Kerim Frei and Damian Duff coming in for Philippe Senderos, Andrew Johnson and Bryan Ruiz.

The Dugout Discussion chatroom is open and can be accessed right here.

ok folks some thoughts on tonight's game. Firslty general football thoughts.

United seem to have found a dictionary that does not contain the word shoot. Barring Young (and one from Tony) no one seemed to want to try and score. Everytime a player in red got towards the box they always looked to play another pass almost like they were either trying to walk the ball into the net, or that they expected a big hole to open up and the ball would just role through it into the goal.

This in turn saw Fulham grow into the game as they sensed United were there for teh taking, and but for a supreme display by the once much-maligned Jonny Evans, they may well have got something. They should have won a late penalty. That being said if the ref (I have no idea who it was) felt it wasn't why did he not book Murphy (knock yourselves out) for diving?

Giggs had maybe the worst game I have seem from him in a while. He gave the ball away more often than he found a man in red, he tried to beat several men as if was 1992 not 2012 and proceeded to lose the ball.

Ok folks, now on to FF thoughts based on some of our more talked about players

Jonny Evans - An absolutely superb display. In the past we have seen him harassed and bullied by big, tough players. Not so tonight, he dealt supremely with the threat of Pogrenbnyak, and also mopped up when Dempsey tried to surge forward, as well as his already touched upon excellent distribution.

Antonio Valencia - Had a quiet game by his recent standards. A few good runs and one big chance but on the whole a disappointing night. However, he was also let down badly by a lack of option to find inside the box.

Ashley Young. Much the same as his mate on the other wing. Young cut a frustrated figure for much of the night as he was often double and triple teamed, but received no support from his team-mates forcing him to try and play his way out, sometimes successfully, sometimes not. But for some superb saves from Schwarzer (why can't you do this when I actually play you?) he may well have got a goal or two. An interesting note that may not have been spotted on tv. When United had a corner on the right, Young occupied a postion on the edge of the box, waiting for the ball to be cleared in order to pick up the rebounds. Am am still undecided over what to do with him, though I think i will be shipping him for reasons soon to be outlined.

Wayne Rooney - Other than his goal it was quiet night for the Pig. Withdrawn late-on for tactical reasons, he had dropped deeper and deeper as he tried to make something happen as United continued to concede possession . Scholes came on to try to bring order to chaos. But unless Cleverley retunrs soon, and United buy a new midfield prompter in the summer i see more of the same on the horizon aw the serivce is just not there.

Dannny Welbeck - A very poor game. His hold up and link-up play was below-par for me and this helped cause the Rooney problem mentioned above. It may be the effects of a longer than normal season catching with him, but Welbeck was off-key tonight, and is highly possible he may see more bench tome. He was clearly withdrawn due to the lack of any threat.

Javier Hernandez. Essentially forced to play up front of his own, a role he is not suited to. Hernandez cut a peripheral figure for most of the game, and only had one decent chance. However, given how poor Welbeck was tonight, and the fact that both Valencia and Young were often forced to retain possession for longer than they would have liked due to a lack of anyone to cross it to, coupled with United's need for both victories and goals, we could see much more game time for Hernandez in the run-in

Apologies for the long post, but I hope it was helpful.

Well I don't see a starting role for Nani right now. Evra tonight lost possession high up the pitch a lot tonight, and Young worked hard to track back to cover him. Had Nani been playing I am not sure this would have been the case and United would have been horribly exposed. I feel he may see much bench time for a while.

don't know if it got shown on Tv. There was a moment just before the goal, Evra had gone forward and wanted a penalty.

When it wasn't given instead of playing to the whistle and trying to keep the move going, he chose to throw a hissy fit and jump around waving his arms about shouting. Frankly it was appalling and as captain he should have known better, it was unbelievable to watch.

      I also left Clint out

If I had him I would keep him. Pog is all about height and power, if you can deal with that you can contain him. Clint was Fulham's best attacking threat tonight and has more than that in his locker. For me he is still the man to own from Fulham.

I love Danny, I think he has been great this season, but his play was just not-up to the usual standards tonight. It may have been an off-day it may be more, I still Hernandez is a decent shout though, so i think it may be time to lose Young.

      Woof. Wow.

Here's the story: Utd without Scholes are poor.

They missed him desperately. Fulham parked the bus and the forwards/wings needed his passes to unlock things. I thought Valencia played well.

Most worrying was how Utd played the last ten minutes. I'm uncomfortable watching them sit on a lead, without pressing forward. Utd don't defend, they attack. I think it shows some cracks are there. And Carrick was blah to poo.

Fulham parking the bus goes back to Hernandez. there were times when Young and Valencia got in behind them down the wings, but had to hold the ball as they had no one in the box to put it into. Hernandez should have started.

Welbz is a pretty good poacher/playing off the shoulder of the CBs himself, though. They were just overloading the box with numbers. Seemed like the issue wasn't the forwards, but the transition play from the def/CMs to the wings/forwards, e.g. Scholesy's forte.

IMO Javier, if marked out of play, has no Plan B, whereas Welbz has the ability to drop deep to pick up the ball.

Hernandez's movement makes him harder to mark in the box. Welbz is certainly a better all round player, but I feel if you need to score goals in a tight defence, Hernandez is a better option than Welbz.

King this is a guy who last week had a go at me for asking a question about my defence, and told me to shut up about my team. I have no idea what I'm supposed to have. I don't claim to be the g-d of anything (although I feel my rank makes my advice worth taking note of). All I do is offer my thoughts and opinions.

Comments like your and Doos' i can deal with, you take my opinion and offer something else to counter it, which is the point of this board. What he has posed offers nothing. I wouldn't even worry about it.

              ah hello sir.

              Congrats on the win.

Somehow I have followed the lead of my team and made an early Europan exit. I need Mull to turn you over, and a heavy victory v Dudu to make it through.

Assuming Rooney gets 2 BPs I need Young to get 1 to tie it.

Frustration sometimes gets the better of me, too, to be fair. I guess the secret is to walk away from the computer/website rather than get less-than-gracious.

I appreciate that you're trying to add to the footy discussion on these boards.

But I would caution you a bit on that 'my-rank-shows-my-advice-is ... ' argument. Firstly, whoever makes that argument invariably comes off looking inelegant (no offense). And secondly, with 'luck'/capricious fate being such an element of this game, I've learned rank isn't the end-all-be-all. I prefer to listen to people, not numbers.

this is true. I tried not to sound arrogant on that and failed. All I meant was that in general, what I have done seems to have worked for me, and so I advise on what I would do, hoping it will do the same for them. If i were that great I'd be 1 in the world, not around 7k.

So on that remark I retract, the rest stands

On that note, I have to be up in just over 4 and half hours, so off to bed for me.

Your rank is good this year but it was poor for the previous 4 or 5 years. Not having a go, but your argument that your advice is worth listening to based on one season out of 6 seems pretty weak to me.

    Current Team:
    Bogdan/Schwarzer
    Caulker, Evans, Enrique, Turner, Simpson
    Bale, Valencia, Dempsey, Miyachi, Morrison
    Rooney, Balotelli, RVP
    3.7m in bank

Would like to do Morrison > Walcott but 0.1m short
Anyone worth a 4 pt hit to get the extra 0.1m, Balotelli seems the logical choice but for who? Cisse?

5 Things we learnt this GW

    1) The RVP vs Rooney Captain debate will go on for the rest of the season and half the time you'll get it wrong.

    2) It's good to have 3 trusty defenders throughout the rest of the season

    3) Players can suddenly have the game of there season when on your bench(HBA & McClean)

    4) Fergie & Mancini play FPL, and Mancini had Rooney(C) where as Fergie had RVP(C), so it was damage limitation at the top for Fergie

    5) There is no reliable source to fill the 3rd forward spot.

Start now with shedding Skrtel. No way 'pool keep clean against Newcastle, not the way they've played the last two weeks. Gives you money to help fund other changes. Could probably upgrade Surman with the free then this week also. I've liked Surman as insurance 5th mid, but may be better options for you elsewhere.

I think he will miss not having Robinho to link up with and he could get frustrated if he gets isolated. Plus with Xavi, Iniesta, Cesc and Messi I don't think Milan with see the ball an awful lot.

2 goals at the weekend without Robinho.

With our injuries I think we're screwed so I have to agree about us not seeing the ball a lot. Its worth noting that at the weekend we were playing Roma, managed by Luis Enrique who was Barcelona B team manager until last summer and has been turning Roma into Barca-lite. Tactically, it seemed like we used the game as preparation for Barca as we played a long ball game and Ibra did rather well from it. Obviously, Roma are not Barcelona but I thought it was interesting anyway.

Thinking of doing Skrtel to Vermaelen and Taiwo to Cahill to sort out my defence. Does this seem like a good move? How nailed on is Cahill? It’s hard getting rid of Taiwo when he keeps returning points but I just can’t justify playing him with his upcoming fixtures. Any help appreciated!

    Team for GW 31

    Vorm
    Skrtel / Evans J / Simpson
Valencia / Bale / Yaya Toure / Walcott

I'm disappointed that I've lost to Zenit this week though, but I have to hope he beats you for me to have any chance of getting into the CL knockout stages. It turns out it miscounted his transfers and he took an 8 point hit, not a 12 pointer 😉
As I've lost both H2Hs against Flynn I have to destroy Czarbles this week to get level on points with you to knock you out on GD.

I might be fighting for Europa now, good luck though 😉

Wouldn't mind him at OT. I heard rumors that both Fergie and Arry' had an eye in for Dembele, he's quite a gifted technical player and certainly looks to have adapted to life in the Prem. But his goalscoring record lets him down, something like 6 goals in 53 apperances in all competitions isn't up to a high enough standard.
