Wayne Rooney’s goal is just enough as United dominate but ultimately rely on a contentious refereeing decision to hold off Fulham at Old Trafford. Here’s the notes from last night’s Gameweek climax…

Jonny Evans
The centre-back compounded his “essential” Fantasy status with the assist for United’s winner to add to his clean sheet. Maximum Fantasy Premier League (FPL) bonus is beckoning, giving Evans his second consecutive double figure return as United recorded a third shut-out in as many games. Recent weeks have seen Evans’ price rise to 5.0 but, given that he offers assured starts in the arguably the strongest back four in the league, there can surely be no quibbling over his acquisition.

Wayne Rooney
Replaced after 77 minutes, Rooney nonetheless had already notched 21 goals for the season, with last night’s strike his eighth goal in his last six league starts. That proved enough to justify the Fantasy Premier League captaincy over Robin Van Persie, as the two strikers begin an ongoing head-to-head feud for the Fantasy armband and the Golden Boot for the remainder of the season. By his recent standards, Rooney’s performance was a modest one – the goal being his only effort on target in the game.

Antonio Valencia
The Ecuadorian went into the match with a vast slab of new FPL ownership, willing him to re-produce the points haul from the Molineux rout. While Valencia had a superb opportunity to seal the victory early in the second half, he emerged with a blank to frustrate his new investors. Despite that, Valencia would seem likely to hold his starting role on the right flank for the trip to Blackburn with his work rate and all-round game clearly in favour with his boss. The recent surge in ownership has seen his FPL tag rocket from 7.5 to 7.9 but, at that price, he still remains excellent value – offering a potentially rich source of attacking points for United’s favourable run-in.

Ashley Young
Young was recalled to the starting lineup with Javier Hernandez, perhaps surprisingly, dropped to the bench to make way. That saw Danny Welbeck tuck in alongside Wayne Rooney in attack. Young had ample opportunities to reward those Fantasy managers who had kept faith with the former Villa man, but saw his best efforts turned away by the athleticism of Mark Schwarzer. Young seems set to compete with Nani – who is expected back in training this week – for the role on the left, with Valencia looking more secure in Ferguson’s lineup on the opposite flank. With his start at Blackburn in question, then, Young’s stock is set to decline as Valencia’s security and price tag has him move in the opposite direction in our Watchlist rankings.

Javier Hernandez
The Mexican watched on from the bench while Danny Welbeck and Wayne Rooney struggled to break the Fulham resistance, despite firing a brace at Wolves last time out. As a Fantasy investment, Hernandez remains a real rotation risk, with his battle with Welbeck set to continue for the remaining matches. While Evans and Rooney look too strong to resist for two of our the three FPL slots, Hernandez is a luxury option for the third slot – the security and value offered by Valencia again looks set to prove decisive, leaving both Hernandez and Welbeck as likely short-term differentials for the final Gameweeks.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Why not keep him for Norwich at least? Was thinking of finding replacement for Skrtel. Baines maybe.

dont see the point of having pog aswell as dempsey, why not do dempsey to walcott, i can see arsenal tearing qpr a new one, i cant see norwich folding like others have at the cottage.

Yeah, Kaboul is the one I can afford from the Spurs defence so think I'm going to have to go for him. The ideal situation would be having enough funds to get rid of Simpson for him though, unfortunately that can't be done...

Morrison out for Ryo, McClean or Rosicky.

Whitbread out for Huth, Cahill, BAE or Verm (but then cant afford Rosicky)

    Thinking of Rosicky and Huth
Rosick seems to have nailed down his place and is playing well. Surely FPL points will follow?
And Huth is always a danger from set pieces... and Stoke are tight at back again and out of Europe.

    Team

    Krul (Bogdan)
    Simpson JEvans Huth (Jenrique, MCAuley)
    Bale Valencia Yaya Rosicky (Siggy)

Somebody said 4/5 off target so yes 80% is high. What it boils down to is whether you have him or don't. People complain about players receiving bonus just cause they scored but played awful.but when he justly doesn't IMO everyone moans cause it didn't suit their team.he was woeful last night, even pulled off by fergie.

Right I am kinda sick of seeing Ba and Skrtel in my team, worth a -4 to get rid of both or prioritise one over other? I am not liking my defence for next week, I will have to double up on newc defence or play Taiwo or Skrtel, neither of which I want to do.

I am looking at Verm and P.Cisse/Crouch in for Ba and Skrtel for a hit. But Verm has QPR and City so I maybe better off getting him after City game for Skrtel and for now get rid of Taye '3 baps' Taiwo.

So Cahill and P.Cisse in now or just get Verm 2 weeks earlier than I want him

Who do you have in your team?

Tottenham are at home against a Swansea team who do not have a great away record, therefore someone like BAE would be a good bet.

Arsenal are playing away to a QPR team who are on a terrible run of form and will most likely not win another game this year, therefore Walcott might be a good bet.

Therefore: BAE/Walcott but seeing how that is too expensive, go Evans/Walcott or Verm/Valencia if possible.

        Rest of the team is:

        Mignolet / Bogdan

        BAE / Enrique / Evans / Senderos / Caulker

        Dempsey / Silva / Bale / McLean / Dyer

        RVP / Rooney / PCisse

I was all set to do Verm & Valencia and then Silva dropped in price last night :p ...

So I come on here on Friday and ask a simple question, who do I take off: Ben Arfa or Oxelaide-Chamberlain. I get overwhelming opinion that I should take off Ben Arfa, and so I do.

Guess who scores one, sets up two?

Why do I bother listening to these guys and not use my own judgement?

OX has been a sub for msot of the season, Ben Arfa has started more games and therefore had more minutes.

Ben Arfa is a magical player, Oxelaide Chamberlain is a gem yet polished. I should have made my own judgement call.

Oh, and another, RVP v Rooney for captain. The posters say, 'When in doubt, captain RVP'. Yet who's on a better run of form? Rooney. But what do I do? Pick RVP.

    DUMB.

Mental note: make your own judgement calls.

He just had to tap it in, you could have done that. Other 76 minutes were quiet.

That's very kind of you to say so, howeverI doubt I'd make the team in the first place. The squad maybe..

Chasing a 50 point lead, really lost on how to recover it at this stage, aside from going for a punt as a captain each week.

keep chipping away dont need to punt for 3/4 weeks at least. I was 120 points off my league leader about 6 gws ago and now just 35 points behind. BEEEEEELIEVE (like the mars bar says)

Doesn't help he has a similar team to me. Was thinking Suarez -> Ade / Aguero for this week as a differential.

Yes to this. I was 47 behind my rival before this GW. One good GW and it's down to 18. All to play for.

Taking a hit for a keeper isn't worth it.
And taking a hit for Johnson is also crazy.

Good god don't do it man, both terrible transfers.

Bogdan: 1 clean sheet in 10 (enough said)
Johnson: Has player a total of 36 mins over the last 3 games!

Both transfers insane, doubly so for a hit!

I'm gettting rid of Enrique and can't decide between Cahill and Gibbs.

Arsenal have a decent run of games bar City next week. Chelsea potentialy have a DG coming up, but also a week off in the cup.

Are either nailed on? Anybody know why Gibbs was brought off against Villa? Who do you reckon will bring in more points over the next few weeks?

Would put Caulker in for a hit this week when they are away to Spurs and he is ineligible. Crazy talk.

Walters to Walcott more sensible but not convinced it's worth hitting for and you probably can't afford that one without the other anyway.
