Wayne Rooney’s goal is just enough as United dominate but ultimately rely on a contentious refereeing decision to hold off Fulham at Old Trafford. Here’s the notes from last night’s Gameweek climax…

Jonny Evans
The centre-back compounded his “essential” Fantasy status with the assist for United’s winner to add to his clean sheet. Maximum Fantasy Premier League (FPL) bonus is beckoning, giving Evans his second consecutive double figure return as United recorded a third shut-out in as many games. Recent weeks have seen Evans’ price rise to 5.0 but, given that he offers assured starts in the arguably the strongest back four in the league, there can surely be no quibbling over his acquisition.

Wayne Rooney
Replaced after 77 minutes, Rooney nonetheless had already notched 21 goals for the season, with last night’s strike his eighth goal in his last six league starts. That proved enough to justify the Fantasy Premier League captaincy over Robin Van Persie, as the two strikers begin an ongoing head-to-head feud for the Fantasy armband and the Golden Boot for the remainder of the season. By his recent standards, Rooney’s performance was a modest one – the goal being his only effort on target in the game.

Antonio Valencia
The Ecuadorian went into the match with a vast slab of new FPL ownership, willing him to re-produce the points haul from the Molineux rout. While Valencia had a superb opportunity to seal the victory early in the second half, he emerged with a blank to frustrate his new investors. Despite that, Valencia would seem likely to hold his starting role on the right flank for the trip to Blackburn with his work rate and all-round game clearly in favour with his boss. The recent surge in ownership has seen his FPL tag rocket from 7.5 to 7.9 but, at that price, he still remains excellent value – offering a potentially rich source of attacking points for United’s favourable run-in.

Ashley Young
Young was recalled to the starting lineup with Javier Hernandez, perhaps surprisingly, dropped to the bench to make way. That saw Danny Welbeck tuck in alongside Wayne Rooney in attack. Young had ample opportunities to reward those Fantasy managers who had kept faith with the former Villa man, but saw his best efforts turned away by the athleticism of Mark Schwarzer. Young seems set to compete with Nani – who is expected back in training this week – for the role on the left, with Valencia looking more secure in Ferguson’s lineup on the opposite flank. With his start at Blackburn in question, then, Young’s stock is set to decline as Valencia’s security and price tag has him move in the opposite direction in our Watchlist rankings.

Javier Hernandez
The Mexican watched on from the bench while Danny Welbeck and Wayne Rooney struggled to break the Fulham resistance, despite firing a brace at Wolves last time out. As a Fantasy investment, Hernandez remains a real rotation risk, with his battle with Welbeck set to continue for the remaining matches. While Evans and Rooney look too strong to resist for two of our the three FPL slots, Hernandez is a luxury option for the third slot – the security and value offered by Valencia again looks set to prove decisive, leaving both Hernandez and Welbeck as likely short-term differentials for the final Gameweeks.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Hi guys and gals. Any advice how to improve this awful squad? If possible, with just 1 hit (2 transfers)? 0.3 in the bank.

    Krul - Mignolet
    Shotton - Evans - Caulker - Kelly - Skrtel
    Siggy - Bale - Dempsey - Silva - Moses
    Ba - RVP - Aguero

Hi all. So, Rooney no bonus. Interesting. I suppose there have been a few times when he deserved none and got some, raising expectations. I heard he was bad, but still thought he'd get a point. Oh well, better than RVP(C)!!!

Onwards and upwards. What to do with this team?

    Krul Bogdan
    Evans Lescott Kelly Skrtel Caulker
    Bale Dempsey Siggy Valencia Walcott
    RVP Rooney Holt

    Bank: 4.5

Thinking Skrtel->Verm or Baines. 2 closest rivals (ahead of me) both have Verm. Makes me think that Baines+Gibbs/Cahill (for Lescott) might be a better bet, allowing me to get Ade for Holt

Ade and Verm seem to be the safe options going around. I'm not overly convinced on either of them though. Verm is fairly reliable though I guess but will tie up a bit of cash if a mid/forward big hitter comes into form

    For those doing these moves

    Pool defender > Verm/Bains etc
    Ba > ?

Is it not better to save a transfer this week?
There are no stand out striker options so a mistake can easily be made. In defense bench the pool defender then play him against Villa the following week? Having a couple of frees available for DGW's down the track might also be handy

Thanks for posting that Demi. Don't know what all the hoo haa is about tbh. From the ref's perspective Carrick's swing at the ball and subsequent movement of the ball marry perfectly. Close-up replays show he never touched the ball but the ref couldn't see that. Murphy's dive would only serve to dispel any doubts if he had any.

student jailed for muamba twitter comments

now, i am obviously against the kind of comments he must have made, but immediate jail for 56 days for something he said online seems incredibly harsh

what on earth did he say?

ridiculous - people who are not a danger to society should not be put in prison. They should be punished with Community service/fines etc.

Surely we will get GW34 news this week? It could make me decide who to get in this week between Verm/Cahill and Cisse/Crouch/Pog.

hi all, bit of a dilemma who to play this weekend out of. Current lineup is

    Krul (Vorm)
Jevans, BAE, Richards (Caulker, Jose Enrique)
    Valencia, Bale, Silva, Siggy (Sess)
    Pig (c), RVP, Pog

can't decide whether to play enrique or Sess instead of BAE and Pog.

Hey guys, can you help me prioritise my transfers this week? I was thinking of doing Skrtel to Vermaelen and Taiwo to Cahill to sort out my defence. Does this seem like a good move? How nailed on is Cahill? I’m anxious about not having Demps vs Norwich, but do you think Pog is enough Fulham cover?

    Vorm
    Skrtel / Evans J / Simpson
Valencia / Bale / Yaya Toure / Walcott
Pogrebnyak / Rooney / Van Persie

    (Al-Habsi / McClean / Taiwo / Caulker)
    1FT (2.0 in the bank)

Both look like sensible moves to me, two good defenders in good form. Taiwo has been lucky with his points recently.

    D:Verm and Jelavic

Can I give you a very serious hint? You need to contribute more to the site and stop being so selfish. Yes you can put little emoticons after everything as you find it funny posting stuff about your team every ten minutes, but we all know it's because you can't make decisions about your team and you want help. People won't give you this help if you don't appear to be helping others.

Golden Rule: The less you post about your own team, the more other people will help you.

    Krul, Mignolet
    Skrtel, Evans, Caulker, Simpson, Shotton
    Dempsey, Bale, Valencia, McClean, Sigurdsson
    RvP, Ba, Rooney

    2FT. 3.9 in the bank.

What should i do? I still have my WC aswell but it seems silly to use it when i have 2FT.
