Even before this gameweek, the card count at QPR left a lot to be desired. Under both Neil Warnock and Mark Hughes, the R’s saw themselves top the table for red cards received, with five dismissals previously racked up. So when another sending off occurred this week – making it six in thirty games (though incidentally their first away from home) – it wrote another line in the chequered disciplinary record of the Loftus Road team.

The red card this week went to the one man entertainment show that is Djibril Cissé. Having arrived at the club at the end of January, Cissé promptly scored on his debut the following day, but a straight red in the next game against Wolves saw him sit out the following three. Back from suspension and immediately amongst the goals, his two strikes in two saw some renewed Fantasy investment, but a two-footed lunge on Sunderland’s Frazier Campbell at the weekend and subsequent four-match ban (as a result of his second straight red) will see a five match record for the Frenchman of: Goal, Red, Goal, Goal, Red. By the time he has served his dues, he’ll have been available for selection for just five of the 12 matches since he signed.

Another to see red this gameweek and head into an enforced rest was Norwich captain Grant Holt. Thanks to two yellow cards (the first, missed by some media outlets, for dissent) Holt was given his marching orders after a late tackle on Wolves’ Michael Kightly and will now miss the trip to Craven cottage against Fulham.

Finally, in yellow card watch, Arsenal centre-back Laurent Koscielny was spared 90 minutes on the high wire against Aston Villa after picking up an injury in the warm-up, while Ryan Shawcross negotiated his game at home to Manchester City without troubling the referee’s pocket either; both go into the next weekend in the same situation, hoping to avoid another yellow before the April 8 deadline.

GAMEWEEK 31 BANS

  • Grant Holt (Nor) – 1 Red for 2 Yellows (1 match)
  • Djibril Cissé (QPR) – 1 Red for serious foul play (first of 4 matches)

Agree, especially since he was cheap and a deadline day purchase.

Who would have though Arsenal would be where they are now, given the shambolic beginning to the season (in the transfer window and on the pitch).

Oxlade Chamberlain will go down as the best, but maybe only in a few years...

This is the point of a bench though. It is frustrating but players scoring points through lucky goals etc. is more annoying that points coming off the bench, because really this is what the bench is for. I know your pain, of course.

rsenal have begun the fight back and are starting to put a run of results together as they set their sights on a Champions League spot and it would seem that their defense have got their act together as well. Vermaelen has grown in confidence over the last number of weeks and with 2 goals and 2 clean sheet in his last 3 games not to mention 5 bonus points the Gunners will be looking for another result as they travel to Loftus Road to face Mark Hughes’s QPR. Rangers have only managed three victories at Loftus Road all season and managed a mere 16 goals in the process, of course some may feel that after their spirited come back against Liverpool in gameweek 29 that they are now a team capable of goals but with Cisse out of the picture after his sending off last time out and they fact that Joey Barton was dropped last time out as he admits he is not playing well, the stats and odds are certainly stacked in Vermaelen’s favor and another clean sheet looks imminent.

    Alright here it is:

    Reina>Howard
    Ba>Cissé

Leaves me enough cash to do Dempsey>Lampard for GW32.

Nice transfers. Not so sure about Lamps though, but it could prove to be an amazing punt.

Doesn't seem to be no. He's the best form striker at the moment and is so soooo greedy so he looks like a great FPL player!

It's my step daughters team...I just do all the transfers and decisions!!

No in all honesty I always have a back up "fun" team where i take 5 minutes a week planning, unlike my proper team that i ponder over for hours and hours only to make the wrong decisions!!

Hi all. Hope (some) if not all had a good GW. My Europa record reads 1 win/ 4 defeats 🙁

    Anyway, I hope you can help ;

Q1) Play Schwarzer (NOR) or Scczezny (qpr)

Q2) Play Siggy (tot) or Myaichi (wol)

Q3) Mata out (I think he will be rested v soon) to Bale or Walcott?

    ........many thanks

Hi RCA, Shame about your Europa defeat this week (ok maybe not so much 🙂 ) I will give you my best advice, because I desperately want you to win this week in the Europa for 2 reasons -
      1).You're a good fellow.
2).I have vested interest in wanting you to win,
so play Schwarzer, Siggy and Mata ->Walcott

With jol going for Hughes against united does that mean senders is out of favour again?

It looks very much like it. I'm a Senderos owner too and I can't see Hughes being dropped, he looked solid whilst Send looked awful for a few weeks.

That may "seem" like good fixtures, but all of those teams are fighting for their lives. Id rather have EVE AVL SUN LIV to be honest
