There’s nothing like a double gameweek to whet the appetite. This morning has brought confirmation of FOUR as the Premier League begins to whip the fixture list back into shape.

Liverpool were first to alert us. The Anfield club have this morning confirmed their home fixture with Fulham, originally due to take place in Gameweek 34, will now occur on May 1, affording both clubs a double gameweek 36 and, subsequently, a blank Gameweek 34.

It’s something of a surprise, with many expecting the fixture to simply be moved into the midweek slot for Gameweek 34 but, nevertheless, it now adds an intriguing twist to the end of the season and give Fantasy managers plenty to mull over.

Liverpool will now face (nor, FUL), while Martin Jol’s side have (eve, liv) on the agenda. While many will look to grab Anfield assets, with the likes of Steven Gerrard and Luis Suarez both producing the goods in the Reds’ previous double gameweek, Fulham’s prospects look comparatively bleak.

With just eight goals on the road this season, the Cottagers travel to two of the four tightest defences in the Premier League – hardly the most enticing of schedules for us to take advantage of. It leaves owners of Clint Dempsey in something of a quandary, then – Fulham have (CHE, blank, WIG, eve & liv) between Gameweeks 33-36. The home clash with Wigan in Gameweek 35 stands out but, with a derby against Chelsea and blank gameweek prior to the Latics clash, then the trips to Everton and Liverpool, there are plenty tactical decisions to be made as we plot to get the most out of our squads over the final hectic month.

Aston Villa were next to issue an update. The club’s official website have announced their game at home to Bolton, originally scheduled for Gameweek 32 but cancelled due to Fabrice Muamba’s collapse at Tottenham in the FA Cup, will now take place on Tuesday April 24, giving both clubs a double Gameweek 35.

Alex McLeish’s side now have back-to-back home matches (SUN, BOL) on their agenda, while the Trotters can look forward to (SWA, avl) in their bid to beat the drop. Right now, Bolton have a blank gameweek preceding this, with their home match against Spurs yet to be rescheduled, while Villa travel to Old Trafford prior to their couple of home fixtures.

Bolton have now confirmed their home match with Tottenham will be scheduled for Wednesday May 2, meaning both sides have a double Gameweek 36. Incredibly, this gives Owen Coyle’s side back-to-back double Gameweeks, with (sun, TOT) this time round, while Spurs face (BLA, bol), with plenty investment sure to come the London outfit’s way.

The likes of Ryo Miyaichi will surely see investment for the Trotters, while Gareth Bale, Benoit Assou-Ekotto and Emmanuel Adebayor will be drafted in by many a Fantasy manager with such favourable fixtures for Harry Redknapp’s side.

Chelsea have also got in on the act. The Stamford Bridge outfit have rescheduled their home clash with Newcastle for Wednesday May 2,affording both clubs a double gameweek 36. With two home clashes, Chelsea (QPR, NEW) look primed for investment, with Juan Mata likely to lead the charge, while the Magpies have (wig, che) to consider, for the likes of Papiss Cisse and Demba Ba.

There is now one outstanding fixture as, of yet, unscheduled from Gameweek 34, then. As we explained in yesterday’s article, the remaining game is:

  • Stoke vs Everton

We’ll bring you more as we get it.

Saying that, someone as cheap as Ryo could get 8 points minimum just for playing and he has the potential to get a couple of assists in 4 matches.

Wheater was actually a great FPL player in his first season for Boro. Cheap as chips and had at least one or two great spells. Might buy him again for old times sake.

I dont think you'd want 11 players in GW34, given who is playing!

There is Arsenal and Man United - possibly 6 from those teams.

With the other teams that actually have fixtures, and given the DGW will come around so soon thereafter, I think Ill just stick with my:

      Mignolet
      Caulker Evans
      Walcott Valencia Siggy
      RVP Rooney Holt

9 players, not the worst! Might have Gibbs in there as well...

Yeah, I reckon he'll get a cameo in at least one of those matches. I think he might be a rotation risk for this weekend too by the way. Read a scout report on some Arsenal fansite on him claiming he'd looked rather tired against Spurs and struggling to play multiple games in short time. Think I'll play him still.

To get 11 players in GW34 I need to transfer 3 of these:

Enrique - has DGW36 and good fixtures. Keep, bench GW34.
Simpson - has DGW36 and good fixtures. keep, bench GW34.
    Bale - Keep, bench GW34.
Dempsey - switch to Walcott next week? Not sure I'd even get him back for the double, rather have Mata.
Miyaichi - switch to McClean GW34 then switch back for his double double?
Suarez - need a replacement with decent fixtures and a game in GW34. Graham? Odem? Struggling here.

    Does all that sound ok?

Not sure if Ryo to McClean and back is worth two transfers, Dempsey is the key one I guess - Walcott looks a great candidate right now but perhaps if Nasri keeps his place he could be worth a look.

Yeah, it's effectively McClean -4 vs Wolves, or no player. No player might be better.

Nasri is a good shout, still not convinced Walcott is the real deal, been burned in that past.

The 3rd striker spot is still the conundrum.

Yeah it really is, I looked at the revised fixture list and immediately thought "Graham", then realised I've already got 3 Swans.

Immediate thoughts on the new DGW situation is that it's going to be a minefield getting a team of 11 players for GW34 without selling players that you'll need for a double in GW36. For the next few weeks, transfers are going to be made just as much by fixture criteria as to whether a player is in unstoppable form.

One conclusion so far is that I'll probably need to ship my Newcastle defender (Simpson, owned from GW1). No game in GW 34 and not the greatest double in GW36 either.

Anyone else see a strategy yet?

      Yes, I do.

Arsenal, United, Swansea and Sunderland have great fixtures for that week and also for the surrounding gameweeks. Those will make up the majority of my team and I actually think that might be a great gameweek to gain points on other FPL players with their eyes firmly on the doubles. I reckon I'll have 8 or 9 players of the teams mentioned.

immediate thought is that holding Dempsey is an absolute nightmare:

NOR bolton CHE blank WIGAN eve/liverpool SUN

Do you keep or not? I might just get rid, not sure who for though I agree it's a minefield. Fun though 😀

    keeper problem...

Have Reina and Schwarzer, neither playing 34, both dgw's 36. Could bring in Given for 34 ready for dgw 35 but he is away to Utd! 😕

If you could take a points hit to buy a wildcard, how much would you spend?

I'd probably buy one for 16 at some stage of the season

People saying if you still have your wc and use it in 36 you'll have your league in the bag...2 of my rivals still have theirs...is their anything I can do to minimise the damage. eg: Just load up 2 or 3of Spurs, Pool and Bol players in the coming weeks o.O
