I hate double Gameweeks. So often false dawns for Fantasy managers, they can promise so much and deliver so little leaving you frustrated and left to clear the ugly remnants of some hurried squad surgery. Then again – the announcement of the latest slew of doubles may just have left the door ajar for me to close the mini-league gap on Mark. Our host was certainly wriggling uncomfortably in his chair during today’s recording, pondering the damage that the Gameweek 34 blanks could inflict and the surge in points that Gameweeks 35 and 36 could bring.

In truth we hardly had time to digest the full picture before dragging ourselves into the studio. Like giggling schoolgirls at a One Direction concert, we were giddy with excitement and largely incoherent with our speech. Still, in and amongst the usual regulars, you might just find something of value amongst the jibberings.

I really don't know how you can ignore Chelsea with their fixtures. Mind you I'm not being biased. But it's very likely that we'll fighting for the Top 4 spot and we'd have to play our best starting 11 by then.

Also, to be frank, I don't see us going further than the SFs in the CL. Even FA finals is going to be hard.

Even if you reckon rotation could be on the cards, you've gotta think Cech Cole & Mata will start both.

If anything, he might be rotated with Luiz. Mind you, Luiz was always our 2nd-choice CB after JT.

Cahill would be the one that I consider, as it looks like Luiz will play the champions league games.

Not if he's going to be playing only QPR.

Cole is definitely worth the extra bit over Cahill for his nailed-on-ness.

I think it depends on the league situation. Spurs could be out of site by then, based on their fixtures, and your fixtures back log.

Also, QPR could well be down by then, so it might be easy to rest players for that fixture. i presume that you will play your strongest team against us, it would be really embarrassing if you finished below us this season!

Yeah I guess all this planning now is going to be pre-mature anyways with loads of variables by gw36. Just saying, on paper, Che & Tot have awesome fixtures and will warrant atleast 2 if not 3 DGW players in a team.

I don't see why you seem to think Chelsea's fixtures are so good. Sure, they have a great double.........sandwiched between away games to Arsenal and Liverpool.

Mata is the only nailed down offensive option, and he sucks away: which both fixtures before and after the double happen to be.

I was only talking about the double and the fixtures from gw36 ofcourse.

        QPR NEW liv BLA

Only Spurs have better fixtures, but they still have 2 away. Liv is in horrid form and no longer a difficult fixture.

Seriously, once Liverpool get agger back, theyll be fine.

And if you think that Liverpool fixture will be easy, youre asking for it, dear friend. Especially the way you have played lately.

I'm guessing he means from the DGW onwards.
QPR/NEW/liv/BLA is 3 great fixtures, and judging Liverpool on current form, 4 great fixtures.

Look, I hate Liverpool even more than I hate your Gunner or his Blues................and I still say once Agger is back, Liverpool will be fine.

Not good, but fine. That match will be very difficult for Chelsea.

    Alreet deadzone!!

WOW! Things just got interesting didn't they? After the initial horror of the DGW announcement (my main rival still has a wildcard + a 29 point lead on me), I've come round to thinking that it should be awesome. This is where us proper players come into our own. i should be able to field 11 for GW34, and am currently looking at 7 for the DGW, with one hit. So whatever my rival does with his wild card, HOPEFULLY won't do to much damage to me. The fact that there is carnage in both GW34 and GW36 means that we all should be able to make big inroads (unless you are already top 10,000). My main rival in another league has 10 players missing in GW34!! In the spirit of fair play, I have already told him that he needs to start planning!!

A few musings on my plans to deal with the carnage.

    1) A DGW to come for Spurs, means it is a no brainer to get friedal in for sorenson this week for a hit. Right? There will be 7 games were I would pick Friedal over mignolet (including the DGW) and it means I don't have to play mignolet this week against City Away! Plenty of time to make up the points

    2) Am I mad to be considering bringing in Bendtner for one game only, at home to wolves in GW34? He has already burned me twice. Other options would be odem v QPR, and graham v blackburn

    3) Am I right in thinking that the only chelsea player worth considering is cahill (or cech), as the others could well be rested for QPR (more likely to play a stronger team against us). I'm hoping my rival loads up on chelsea with his WC

    4) No GW34 for everton (probably) means that I am better getting in Kompany (or Big Verm) this week rather than baines, then Baines in for the double (rooney to adebayor to fund it). What do you think? PS This means that I can afford friedal rather than bogdan to replace sorenson.

    Thoughts?

      1) Spurs 3 spots are going to be precious. I'd go BAE Bale Ade if possible and put Cech in goal.
      2) Good option. I prefer Graham personally, cos he creates funds for upgrades elsewhere.
      3) I don't think we'll be resting our key players against QPR, who we need revenge against. Mata, Rami, Cole, Cech all should start both games.
      4) Verminator fo sho.

      Hey China,

      Good analysis!

With respect to (1), I am in the same boat (Migs & Sorensen). Was planning all day to do Sorenen >Friedel for 4pt hit. However, just "noticed" Howard. And am seriously considering him instead.

There are 5 games which i would pick Howard over Migs PLUS there will be a DGW (FUL & sto i presume)

What are your thoughts? Anyone else please feel free to jump in!

I just checked it out on my rotation analysis spreadsheet, and Mig/ Friedal works out a bit better fixture wise, but factoring in that evertons defence are in better form, and howard is a little cheaper, it is probably about evens.

Anyone else have a thought on which is better?

    GW31 save
    GW 32 demps>walcott
    GW33 save
    GW34 mcclean> ryo + komp>BAE
    GW35 rooney > ade

Can make 1 more FT(i think) in this span, looking at either Walcott>Gerrard/Mata/Lamps, what would be a good week to get this in?

Someone double check if this plan actually makes sense(dont wanna carry over and lose a FT!)

Chelsea's run up to the DGW leaves little to be desired, not to mention the thought of having to waste a transfer to bring them in, then take them back out again in GW37 given their poor away form...

15th April - FA Cup SF v Spurs
17-18th April - CL SF 1st leg (potentially)
    21st April - Arsenal away
    24-25th April - CL SF 2nd leg

Then just 4 days after they have QPR at home, with Newcastle 3 days later...

This is surely a huge month for Chelsea... although I can't help but think that most of the players will be feeling the effects mentally, physically - and even emotionally - of all those games...

I'm of the feeling that, given the circumstances running up to GW36, these two "great" home fixtures will leave a bad taste in many an FPL manager's mouth once it's all over...

Just Cahill for me, I think...

Kaboul is an option... and he is no stranger to the odd set piece goal either...

If I plump for him though, I won't have any Chelsea coverage, and I think that is risky...

At least with Cahill, I'm covered defensively - and somewhat offensively - for any freak results that might happen...

Do you see 2 CS from Spurs? I'm not sure... 😕

If you were to risk 3 players and they scored well over the two games, you could make heaps of points up on everyone else...

Which LIV defender to lose this week for Vermaelen?

    a) Enrique (leader of my ML has him, less of an attacking threat), or

    b) Skrtel (adds another 0.5m to the bank which could come in handy, but he is more attacking and my ML leader doesn't have him)

In this instance it is definitively worth taking a hit, for reasons I have stated above. Canadian, i replied to you above. I think Mignolet/ Friedal, Mignolet/ Howard work out just about even. I will be getting either one in for a hit.

In fact, i've just changed my mind. I was using the upcoming double, as justification for a hit to take out sorenson this week, but thinking about it, it would be worth it anyway. Of course its not worth it for a one off game (apart from a double), but the transfer will more than repay the 4pts over the course of the season, seeing as the keeper I would be getting in i would choose over mignolet on probably 7 occasions. And with the carnage, there won't be any weeks when I have a free transfer to spare.

          Take the hit!!

For those of you that do not understand. The Maple Leafs are Toronto's hockey team and the Man United of the NHL(but we suck). We have not won the CUP since 1967 and have not made the playoffs since 2004. (which is hard to do since 8 of 15 teams make it each year).

Not much in this, but which route is best (both involve no hits)?

    1)
    GW34 (11 starters and 1 freebie c/fwd)
    Migs, (Bogdan)
    Vermaelen, JEvans, Caulker, Turner, (Skrtel)
    Walcott, Valencia, Siggy, Mclean, (Bale)
    RVP, Rooney, (Suarez)

Then GW35: Mclean -> Ryo (for the Double Double) and
    GW36: Rooney & Valencia -> Adebayor & Mata/Gerrard/VDV (7 DGWers)

    or 2)
    GW34: (10 starters and 1 freebie c/fwd)
    Migs, (Bogdan)
    Vermaelen, JEvans, Caulker, Turner, (Skrtel)
    Walcott, Valencia, Siggy, (Ryo), (Bale)
    RVP, Rooney, (Suarez)

Then GW35: Walcott -> Dempsey (for WIG then the DGW), then
    GW36: Rooney & Turner -> Adebayor & BAE (8 DGWers)

hmm, I would think bale vdv and ade would be spurs attack overkill. Id get BAE as third spurs coverage, along with bale and barndoor. Best option imo Gerrard or Lampard, slightly favouring Gerrard due to chelsea's congested fixtures.

If I have to do a hit to get 11 players in gw34, then it's not worth going it right? Without a hit, I'd be able to field 10, still have 5 dgwers at that point, with then a mininum of 7 by gw36 (i.e. without a hit).

If I did take a hit to field 11, I'd then need a further hit to get back to 7 dgwers, meaning the 11th player would need to get 8 to make it worthwhile. Hmm, think I'll stick to 10.

Kompany - SUN ars WBA nor wol
Vermaelen - qpr MCI wol WIG CHE

Considerin fixtures, price and city's airtight defence(with komp back) anyone goin komp over verm next 5 (and the swappin gw 36 for a DGWer).. can see 3-4 CS's in city's run and just 1 or 2 in Verm's.. even if verm scores a goal i can see komp outscorin him

Ha. The way we do it, is if somebody is a no brainer, we will both have them, but if its a 50:50 decision, or differential, we try to split them.

Start of the season we had two completely separate teams. But that ended around christmas when I realised that she had a better chance of winning our mini league!

surely you gotta buy a defender based on clean sheets first.. and Bad K is a better bet than verm for that.. cant see arsenal keepin in a CS in the next 2 or CHE.. while city could in every game apart from ars

DGW's don't always work the way you think they should.

Last season I think Birmingham had two home games and Newcastle had 2 away games in the DGW.

Everyone stocked up on Birmingham defenders and keeper (Ben Foster) and left Newcastle alone. Birmingham conceded in both games and Newcastle kept 2 cleanies.

I never got rid of him as there was always something else to do. However, no point keeping him now so may as well sell him.

Still undecided but may go safety first with Cissé mkII.

Verm for me. Of the 3 he has the best fixtures, plays for the team most in form, is the most likely to score (Baines runs him close due to pens), and he plays in GW34.

So the run in to the end of the season looks to bring much excitement and should finally seperate the casual from the regular player, with that I have a question for the deadzoners:

    A). Friedal & Baines

    or

    B). Howard & BAE

    ?

    Mignolet Mclean Enrique Caulker
1 FT and 4.6 in bank
