It’s a crunch period. Managers, Premier League and Fantasy alike, now look keenly to those above and below them, hunting for opportunities to eek an advantage. Out on the pitch, flair can be overshadowed by endurance, skill oft succumbs to dogged determination and those scarred by previous relegation or European battles tend to shine. As Fulham drift, Everton rise and Spurs cling, we take a look at how Paddy Power have priced up some Fantasy veterans in another round of crucial clashes…

Clint Dempsey’s two-point return at Old Trafford last Monday certainly didn’t reflect the shift that he and his Fulham team-mates produced in the second half. A story perhaps too common in the last few fixtures for Martin Jol’s men. However, with Norwich’s recent away form showing a couple 1-0 defeats, a Clint Dempsey goal and a cleansheet at 5/1 has some value. And thus we break open our Flutter wallet and stake our first fiver.

March has been a busy month for the Toffees. A protracted and gritty FA Cup tie against Sunderland made up an unpalatable cocktail with stinging league fixtures against Arsenal, Spurs and Liverpool. And yet, against the odds, Everton have gone up a gear. Leighton Baines, oddly Everton’s top goalscorer, has provided both determined quality at the back and an energy and flair going forward that betrays the fact he’s racked up only two assists this season. Perhaps with this in mind, Paddy price Baines at 12/1 for an assist with an Everton clean sheet against West Brom. With Everton’s form and Baines in bloom – we’ll take this one on for a cheeky quid.

Gareth Bale has remained Tottenham’s star performer through a stiff patch of fixtures and results. While his recent contribution consists of just a couple of assists, Bale has threatened enough to suggest he’ll fetch richer returns very soon. A Bale goal and a Spurs cleansheet at 7/2 is quite short considering Swansea’s away successes against Fulham and Wigan. If Luka Modric and Scott Parker can break down the Swans’ fluid passing, Bale will get a chance to stretch his legs against the visitor’s back four and our final few quid will be money well spent.

Money Back Specials

The Sports Direct Arena provides the venue for Paddy’s first refund special. If Liverpool lead at anytime in Sunday’s match against Newcastle, but fail to win, Paddy will refund all losing first/last goalscorer, correct score and scorecast singles on the match up to a value of £100 per customer.

Monday night’s Ewood Park mission for Man United provides Paddy’s other money back offer. If Wayne Rooney scores the last goal in the clash with Blackburn, Paddy Power will refund all losing first /last goalscorer, correct score & scorecast singles on the match up to a value of £100 per customer.

Register and Bet £10 And Get £20 Free

If you’re new to this betting lark and new to Paddy Power then you can take up any of these odds and offers and get yourself a bonus. You can sign up via this site and get a free £20 when you register an account and bet a tenner.

Finally of course, we should state that all these offers are only available to those aged 18 and over and are subject to Paddy Power’s terms and conditions. Also, if you’re going to bet, always gamble responsibly.

      GW 34 - 35 - 36 plan:

      Vorm
      McAuley Caulker Verma Evans
      McClean Yaya Walcott Valencia
      RVP Roo

      bench: Pog Bale Cahill

      No hits at GW 34,
2 FT for GW 35 to do McClean > Ryo and Verm > BAE
1 FT for GW 36 to do Walcott > VdV

      good plan?

Id prefer Cisse or Ba over Pog. Or a bit of Ben Arfa. In other words an attacking New player. Away against Wigan is a good enough fix on its own + one bonus chance to score vs Chels.

Pog is my fulham cover for GW 36 DGW. I think judging from the way Fulham's played away to Man Utd last week they really look like they'd improve their away form.

          GW 36 will look like:

          Vorm
          Caulker BAE Cahill
          Ryo Bale Valencia VdV
          Rvp Roo Pog

6 players will be on DGW

Fair enough so basically youre going for Fulham over Newcastle! Looks good, I will probably take a 4 point hit myself. Not tempted with any Villa player for gw 35 no? 2 Home games...

I think I'm too cautious to go with Villa players :). Their position in the league isn't that strong atm and have been disappointing fantasy-wise. But I understand your point for Newcastle players and atm the plan is to not take any hits. If by GW36 I change my mind, then I'd take hits to get em in 🙂

OK, my main ML rival has just made 3 transfers so he's -4 for the week (and so am i).

we both have RvP but i have Rooney and he had Aguero. i'm sure he's shipped Aguero, Drenthe plus another and brought Rooney in.

do i go RvP(C) or do i risk Rooney(C) to try and second guess him?

The suggestion that Siggy is on pens now is purely biased speculation on this site based on the fact that Sinclair missed one and everyone owns Siggy. Sinclair said he wants to keep taking them and he has had a decent penalty record (I think he's just missed the one).

I guess everyone is different. I really don't buy into it. Why a rule for hits on defenders but not mids or forwards? An attacking transfer is just as likely to fail imo. I see this move at least breaks even. And having Kompany will be useful for gw34.

How do the moves look on paper? Please just confirm that I should go ahead with getting Hart and Jelavic.

    this gw-> reina->hart + suarez->jelavic (4 pt hit)

    pre gw32-> no transfer

pre gw33-> dempsey->walcott + senderos->aston villa defender / arsenal defender ( someone other than verm cause by then he will be out of price range because of his imminent price rise)
This gives me 8 players for dgw 34.

    pre gw34-> undecided with transfer

Morning guys. Hope your plans are going swimmingly and you've made all your decisions with 3 hours to spare!

I've still got to decide between fielding Skrtel or Kelly.

I've had Skrtel in all week but Kelly has crept in this morning as I think Fulham have the better defensive form and a slightly higher clean sheet potential. However, Skrtel is always a threat for attacking points and I just can't work out if that gives him the edge.

Thoughts? Anyone else facing the same problem?

Kelly. I have a similar dilemma with Skertel/ Senderos (didn't start last match) /Wheater (playing wolves away but great in set pieces)

I'd play Skrtel in that case as I'd say Senderos is a 0/1 point risk

I had thought about it briefly but he's been such a good differential for me whereas Kelly and Skrtel aren't.

Plus the Siggy has a higher chance of getting more than 6 points whereas you're hoping for a Kelly clean sheet (~6 points) or a Skrtel goal (~7 points).

I think I'll go Kelly at the moment as that's what most people have said over the last couple of days. Skrtel is only in my team as a hangover from the DGW and I would have got rid if it wasn't for other, more pressing transfers.

I understand what you are getting at. But I personally don't feel Swansea can do it for three away games in a row, and Siggy doing well in all of them. Law of averages is bound to catch up.

I know what I'm gonna do, and am sticking with it.

Out of the 28GWs he has played....Skrtel has scored only twice and assisted once.

Not sure that represents "good" attacking returns.

Swansea's N Taylor has a similar amount of games and has recouped only 12pts less than Skrtel depsite being in a "lesser" team (he has 1 assist & no goals) but costs almost 2 million less.

For that reason i dumped Skrtel this GW to free up funds to invest elsewhere.

I agree Skrtel is a waste of money at the moment but he's in my side and I need to make a decision!

I'm referring to his attacking threat rather than his attacking returns. He's among the top defenders in term of goal threat.

I'm starting Kelly at the moment and I have to hope than The Toon hammer Liverpool.

          Kelly is sensible imo

I think my point was, if you choose to play Skrtel over Kelly for his attacking threat - then this reason alone probably has little weight as Kelly is more likely to kep a CS than Skrtel is to score/CS imo

That said, watch both end up with 1pt

Ive played Bogdan over vorm before when I did it on the basis of fixture. It didnt pay off so I'm not tempted to take that risk again aguero to ade does seem the best move. However for a hit and also he will have a blank gw 34 whereas aguero will play that week (currently I will be able to field 10 without a hit) he just doesn't seem worth it
