As the April 8 amnesty draws near, there are now just three names sitting in wait of the Damoclean sword that will seal their fate. With just one Gameweek left to negotiate for all our protagonists before the bar is raised to 15 yellows after Sunday, our trio are nearing the end of their uncomfortable journeys.

Having successfully come through losses at QPR and Wigan respectively without cautions, long term incumbents Laurent Koscielny and Ryan Shawcross will move on to their weekend match ups as the Easter schedule heats up.

Shawcross welcomes Wolves to the Britannia and need to stay on the good side of Mike Halsey, whose yellow card average is amongst the lowest in the league (2.38 cards per game but no reds in 16 previous fixtures). Koscielny entertains Manchester City at the Emirates in Sunday’s final showdown and will be keen to stay out of Martin Atkinson’s notebook; Atkinson already blinks on our radar as a flasher of reds – he has pulled out a table-topping eight in 24 games this year and also has an above average yellow count (3.33 per game).

Joining those previous two faces for company on this final week rollercoaster is the QPR captain Joey Barton. Booed by his own fans following a poor display in the win over Liverpool, Barton took to the programme at the weekend to call for some unity ahead of the difficult run. Never one to miss an opportunity, he also responded on the pitch with an improved performance and a ninth yellow card in the win over Arsenal – more representative of the Barton we’ve been accustomed to seeing this year – and earned himself a place on the high wire. Barton’s fixture is another tough one as he takes his QPR team to Old Trafford and a date with the current league leaders, but with Lee Mason at the helm of this one (2.65 yellows per game and no reds in 20 previous fixtures) Barton may be relaxed about the chances of reaching the suspension limit.

Finally it’s away from the potentials and on to the immediate bad boys, and while Djibril Cissé continues to serve his time, It’s the unlikely shape of Pepe Reina who goes to join him on the naughty step. Guilty of an attempted head-butt in the loss to Newcastle, Liverpool’s Spanish stopper gave referee Martin Atkinson little choice than to add to his reputation, even if the theatrics of recipient James Perch were a little on the dramatic side. Reina will now sit out the next three games for the Anfield club, with Gameweek 32 and 33 followed by the FA Cup Semi-final against Everton. Brazilian Doni will presumably step in to relive José Enrique for that spell.

GAMEWEEK 32 BANS

  • Pepe Reina (LIV) – 1 Red for violent conduct (first of 3 matches)
  • Djibril Cissé (QPR) – 1 Red for serious foul play (second of 4 matches)

UCL FF usually get's the love an hour before kick off 🙂

        Mourinho on the Madrid website

"There won’t be many changes on the lineup. The only one who played in Pamplona and isn’t on the list is Arbeloa. The rest have been called-up to play. Pepe is here with me because he will play. It is a Champions League match and we have a very good aggregate. Very few believe APOEL will score four goals at the Bernabeu, but football is football and we must respect the crowd expecting a good football match, and we must especially respect our opponent. There will be few changes and what matters to us is reaching the semifinals."

    Afternoon gents,

Has anyone given serious consideration to the team they will be fielding in Gameweek 34? I've run through a whole variety of scenarios but I just can seem to be able to field XI without compromising my plans for Gameweek 36 or taking a whole load of points hits.

Would be keen to see people's anticipated lineups.

At the moment mine is likely to look something like:
    Caps = Ineligible to play

    Mignolet, SCHWARZER
    Evans, Caulker, ENRIQUE, SIMPSON, WALKER
    Valencia, McClean, Walcott, BALE, MIYIACHI
    RVP, Rooney, ADEBAYOR

I'm at a loss to figure out who I will need to get rid of as it's likely I'll just want them back for 35/36!

    Schwarzer, Bale, Adebayor

True! 35 and 36 are massive. But my experience from last season (all the cancelled fixtures around christmas) is that taking advantage of cancelled fixtures can be just as rewarding, if not more, than a double gameweek. Fielding XI would be awesome, just don't think it's practical. If any can do I, I'd be keen to see how!

Look at the matches these players have in the DGW - for example you do not under any circumstances want to be getting rid of any Spurs players. Choose the weakest DGW teams and then take the players you have from those teams out.

I will have 11 for GW34 and maybe 5-6 DGW players, I don't think more than that is really necessary.

Thats the balancing act I'm trying to figure out.

For example, Simpson - has a blank 34 but a nice fixture 35 and a double (all be it not a particuarly favourable one) in 36.Is it worth fielding one less player in Gameweek 34 and hanging onto Simpson, or transfering him out (potentially for a hit) or making sure I can field XI.

Im in the same boat with Ade - NOR next week so want to keep him for the DGW also. Bendtner is the obv choice for gw34 here though but the ammount of transfers i need are ridiculous.

      Current GW34 team.

      Min
      Evans
      Siggi Valencia
      Rooney RVP

BAsically going to take an 8pt hit to bring in 4 players for that week. May play with 10 players that week to sasve a transfer and keep my DGW players that i already have

Simple just transfer out Enrique, Simpson and Walker before gw 34 then transfer in a couple of sunderland/wba defenders and a maybe gibbs. Then do a 4 point hit gw35 take rooney out Cisse in and upgrade one of your new defenders to Baines,

Well f*k it!!! Who needs Bolton players, there will be rotation too. I think Bogdan, Ryo are out of my squad. No point in planning and spending points on Bolton players IMO. The only outside candidate that I am considering is Davies, because I am a fan and he is goal scorer. I probably will have only GIven for the double in GW 35

I was just looking at my gw 28 wildcard.
It could/should have been great but ended is mediocre at best.
Trebling up on the Liverpool defence Johnson, Skrtel and Enrique, looked good initially, but flopped spectacularly. I still have both!
I brought in Surman specifically for the home wolves game gw 30, he did not start.
I brought in Pogrebnyak and got rid of Dempsey. Enough Fulham cover I thought...disaster.
I brought in three man united players Rooney, Young, Evans. Looked great at the start but the problem is I am still stuck with young!
Now I have to pray Liverpool get a clean sheet against Villa and Young/Surman start Gw 34.
    I hate wildcards!

    sorry for repost folks

ok folks think I have this DGW palarva cracked

    G33 – Save transfer

    GW34 – Dempsey – Sess

GW35 Theo and Santon to Barfa and Kaboul

GW36 – Yak to Ade, Verm to Baines and De Gea to Howard (-8)

    Thus my DGW team

    Howard

    Baines, Skrtel, Kaboul

    Sess, Barfa, Bale, Siggy

    RvP, Rooney, Ade

Subs : Mingolet, McClean, Caulker, Evans

Could bench RvP to slot McClean in.

    7 DGWers in total

Worth selling De Gea, or just bench him and play Mings? Howard's DGW is appealing and I can't get Friedel.

anything else worth changing in there?

Would love Sess to a DGWer but there's no one affordable who appeals, don't think Miyaichi will do that well.

Only thing is I couldn't get Verm or Theo in in 37 for Norwich game without a hit of some sort in 37 (want to do Skrtel to Verm) but would be 0.2 short.

Chelsea have Liverpool in 37 though, not much better there, though Ivanovic is possible, depending on price rises as that team minus Howard only has 0.3 spare.

I have 4 Benfica players in my team @ Chelsea 2moro.

Aimar, Gaitan, Maxi and Garcia. Which ones should I keep or bin?

Garcia since he'll probably be playing centre back.

Would take one hell of a DGW captain and team.
