Having failed to notch away from Craven Cottage this calendar year, many a Fantasy managers’ plans for the upcoming double Gameweek 36 had centred around getting rid of Clint Dempsey. This afternoon at the Reebok, the American give us plenty to ponder as a brace ended Bolton’s recent winning run and sent the US international to second behind Robin Van Persie in the overall points rankings.

Prior to today’s display, Dempsey’s notoriously poor away form had produced just three goals, compared to 10 goals and six assists in front of his own fans. With a blank Gameweek 34 on the horizon and trips to Liverpool and Everton in Gameweek 36, the decision to transfer him out made plenty sense; Fulham had scored just eight on the road all season before today, after all. Now, however, many have a dilemma.

Given his current form, those still holding Dempsey will surely look upon Monday evening’s upcoming home clash against Chelsea as another potentially strong opportunity of points. The visit of Wigan in Gameweek 35 affords him the chance of a substantial home haul, with the option of the captain’s armband a definite possibility.

While Gareth Bale and David Silva (without a goal since Gameweek 24 and Gameweek 16 respectively) stumble towards the finish line, Dempsey – handed a role up front in light of Pavel Pogrebnyak’s absence – simply shows no sign of letting up as he forges further ahead of his fellow-midfielders in the Fantasy running.

Transfer plans may now be postponed or ripped up altogether as we look for ways to hold onto the American. That straight swap for Theo Walcott before Arsenal’s trip to Wolves on Wednesday that many had in mind, or the move to Stephane Sessegnon for Sunderland’s home game with the midlanders in Gameweek 34 may never see the light of day now. With form the clear winner over fixtures as the season heats up, can we really afford to run the risk of moving out such a potent source of points?

Same here. Starting to think 10 players is more than enough though. Every week there are always a couple of players with horrible 2 point scores anyway. As long as we have the right core of players and a good (c) choice I don't think 1 player down will be missed.

I don't have a problem playing 8 or 9 in GW34 as they'll have the best fixtures. And I certainly won't screw up GW35 (and potentially GW36) just to get in an extra player(s) - on a FT or hit - who might just give me 1pt or 2pts at the end.

At the same time, I'll be happy to play only 5 or 6 DGWers depending on form.

I'm not buying into the big TOT love at the moment. Bale was average today. Ade was a sloth and VDV was Nathan.

Each to their own of course, and yes, it's a great chance to rack up a big score and improve your ranking.

All things in moderation is my motto when contemplating GW33-36.

    Just my € 0.2

In hindsight, I would've benched Walcott probably. Demps hasn't done it away from home though. Plenty on here were recommending benching him/selling him. Either way, it's an f-ing c seeing those points on my bench.

Its perfectly understandable. Hell, I was intent on selling him last week until his performance, which led me to start him this week.

Now, I'm confused as to whether I stick or get rid now. Considering his goals, leaning towards holding on til at least WIG.

That's all she wrote, the fat lady has sung and my last chance at challenging for even the lower quality leagues has gone.

To quote a charming American saying, I can really only describe GameWeek 32 as a ClusterF*ck of epic proportions.

After three or four solid weeks brining me back in contention, I'm sat looking at 9 points with 4 to play and I can really only blame myself. First up I belatedly leapt onto the Valencia bandwagon at the expense of Clint Dempsey (well Fulham away are pretty awful usually aren't they).
Next up I benched both Asso-Ekotto and McClean, well that match isn't going to end goalless is it and I persisted with Ba (surely he's got to get some luck soon...)

Then to complete the f*ckwittery, I made a last minute decision yesterday morning to swap out Krul for my hitherto unused Bogdan - let's face it Swansea weren't going to be denied at home.

So there we have it ladies and gentlemen - 3 players with a solitary point to their name, nothing from Baines and only 2 points from the rest, with 16 points on the bench pre bonus (and 13 in the transfer bin). Only Man Utd (and RVP) can even regain some sense of dignity, but for me the war is over - time to start planning for the Euros?

Flumoxed with what to do now. My plan was either getting rid of Suarez or Dempsey to fund Theo but now both are producing I may have to go Theoless again. Have 2 FTs to use but can't see sense in benching any of my current front 7. Considering Skrtel to Lescott and having 2FTs for the week after with the option of ditching Bale.

    Team for the week:
    Krul
    Simpson Evans Verm
    Bale Valencia Sigurdsson Dempsey
    RVP Rooney Suarez
    (Mingolet; Ryo, Skrtel, Kelly)

      Fatigue.

Bolton have a nasty schedule coming up and after the blank GW they have 5 games in 15 days. For a team with enough injuries and not enough quality in depth that's a pretty punishing schedule for Coyle.
