Just the one Premier League to concentrate on this evening, as Blackburn look to battle for points against a Liverpool side desperately looking for a change of fortunes ahead of their FA Cup semi-final with Everton. Our Dugout Discussion chatroom is now open to welcome your real-time chatter as the game unfolds.

The team news from Ewood is interesting and somewhat predictable. While Steve Kean tinkers by bringing in Mauro Formica and Marcus Olsson for Morten Gamst-Pedersen and Jason Lowe, his opposite number has a different agenda with the weekend cup tie in mind. Kenny Dalglish rests Steven Gerrard from his squad, whilst Luis Suarez is shifted to the bench, allowing Andy Carroll and Craig Bellamy to start up front. Glen Johnson returns to the side, with a left-back role looking likely as Jose Enrique also makes way. He sits alongside Jamie Carragher and Dan Agger as Sebastian Coates starts alongside Martin Skrtel.

Follow the action on your screens with one eye on our Dugout Discussion chat via this link.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Contemplating doubling up on arsenal defence....friedel and baines out.....sczcseny and vermaelen in....would give me 9 players for gw34 and wouldn't have to take a points hit

haha but need 3 hits to get 11 players and those extra 3 means its only 6 point hit just for appearance alone let alone performance

and theres no hassle of having to waste transfers to get dgw players back in as ive got wildcard 😀

                  Ahh good thinking!

True, wish I'd held onto my wildcard but live and learn I guess 🙂

You'll be sorted for the DGW, I've got to take a hit just to get 7 in and the rises to the lead up of it will probably screw me over!

Yes, but you may have to pay a higher price to get them back in (especially if you bought them cheap). This premium might impact your wildcard flexibility.

Which option should I take to give me 10 players for GW 34?

    1) Miyaichi -> McClean, keep Bale. This would give me McClean for GW 34, and Bale for GW 35 and DGW 36.

    OR

    2) Bale -> Sessegnon, keep Miyaichi. This would give me Sessegnon for GW 34, and Miyaichi for DGW 35 & DGW 36?

          Hmmm it's hard to say.

If you had to take a hit for anyone, I'd do Walcott to Mata/Dempsey/Ben Arfa.

Otherwise I'd keep as Walcott has good fixtures in Norwich(H) and West Brom(A) for GW37+38 respectively.

I'd probably do it. Way I was told, the points you earn in the GW34 allows you to reason taking a hit in the DGW.

Got to think about the next game in hand more than the DGW, there's plenty of chance people, inc. your rivals will have planned badly and you could capitalise on that with a good GW34 performance.

rooney is making me sick lately, i stand to win a few grand if rvp gets top scorer, yet rooney keeps getting penalties.. fact: man utd have had 10 penos this year, 2 more than any other team, arsenal have had 2, joint least.. how disgusting is that, says a lot about referees

i won't argue with that, and i can't recall off the top of my head how many were actual penalties, but i know for sure at least 3 of them shouldn't have been.. conversely, the number of penos that arsenal should've gotten is way below expectation. point is, rooney still has a shot at winning the golden boot, even though on a level playing field with no bias or pressure on refs, rvp would easily be 10 clear of everyone

Comparing teams is apples & oranges. I'd argue that Utd spend more time in the opponent's box than most/all others teams, so more likely to be awarded penalties.

But, the fact is, be angry at RVP. He hasn't been lighting it up himself, lately.

i would love to know the percentages for this, as i would be confident wit the way ars play (neat, nice dribbles and work their way into the opponent's box) that they have been in the box more times and for longer duration than man utd..

rvp has been like bale lately, playing v good but not doing it in ff terms.. he easily could've had 2 vs city the other day only for vermaelen blocking his header, and hitting the post.. i read somewhere during the week that him and suarez have hit the woodwork more times than any other players this season, not sure in what order though

i've been trying to plan (literally writing out lists of teams) for gw34-36 since we got the news about them, but until we know who wins the fa cup semis, it's impossible to completely plan..

for gw36 the dgw players i currently have are: krul/ cahill/ baines/ bale/ ben arfa/ suarez, and will be looking to ship in 3 of the following: BAE/ VDV/ Ade/ Cisse/ Mata/ Pienaar/ Jelavic... am i missing anyone?

Correct me if i'm wrong, but as Dempsey rose yesterday does that mean his Target NTI(20,427) doubles to 40,854?

Nope, NTI Target of 20427 again. The NTI itself just resets to 0.

        It says in 'Help'

Q: You mentioned above that a player can increase more than once in a week. Does the NTI target just get reset as well?

A: This is where it differs. If a player increases in value because they hit their NTI target, then in order for them to increase again in the same GameWeek (GW) the NTI target gets doubled. If they happen to hit that NTI target, in order for them to get a third increase, their NTI target gets trebled. You with me?

Just thinking I have three transfers for the Dgw, and 10 players for 34, so by getting a Villa player, I get a gw 34 player ( who will get thrashed) but then a doubler in 35 also

Defender for me as it suits my squad and i don't really fancy their attacking returns.

Actually thinking about getting Lichaj/Cuellar this week instead of a WBA/Sunderland defender. I know whoever i get will likely pick up 1 or 2 points but it's still better than nothing and there is no guarantee that Turner etc would do any better this week. Then you have a lovely DGW to come (home to Sunderland & Bolton)

so in 36 i will have 2 FT to get 2 DGW players. money will not be an issue.
already have bale dempsey kelly simpson krul adebayor
non dgws are siggurdson sessegnon and RVP

    currently thinking baines and benarfa/cisse

cant get cisse and benarfa as i already have 2 NEW.

also would you guys recomend a 4 pt hit to field 9.. will prob lose sessegnon.
for the third player im thinking pienaar/osman.. could be mata/lampard too.. have tons of cash.

I think you can go too overboard on the DGW.

I know there is only two games after it but you've really got to have a strong team for them still, you might get good points in the DGW but you could loses those points through not having a strong enough team in 37 and 38.

I think I'd go Cisse over Ben Arfa and possibly taking a punt in GW37 on likes of Wigan player (shocking I know) 😀

the teams that play teh dgw and have bad games are

        newcastle - i have 3 players
        liverpool - 0 players

        good games

        tottenham - 2 players
        everton - 1 player
        fulham - 2 players

so basiacally only new will cause me problems but they are playing great and i would fancy ben arfa or cisse to score vs tougher opponents.

also considering bringing in an extra everton dgw player because they have easy games

As long as you've got a plan - which I've gotta say looks pretty decent so far, then it's all okay. Just important not to let DGW seem like the be-all and end-all of weeks. 🙂

Its the pace he showed and the dribble around one of the tacklers as well as the turn. I think the audacity of it all makes it a great goal. It was as if he was a rugby player sprinting through everyone from inside his own half. Its the sort of goal you don't see much in football

    Mignolet (Friedel)
    Vermaelen Evans Kompany Cauker (Simpson)
    Valencia Sigurdsson (Dempsey Bale Miyaichi)
    Rooney RVP Odemwingie

2.8m in the bank, 2 free transfers.

Would you do Miyaichi -> Sessegnon as my free transfer for this week meaning that I am able to field 11 and also still have 2 free transfers next week, or would you recommend something else?

Tricky one, as with two double you may regret selling Miyaichi, but he has been rotated recently

    Morning deadzone

    Just seen the comments above about the barfa goal. What the hell were you guys expecting?? Here is my take on it;

Cruyff turn past one defender, burst of pace to take him past the next, balance to keep on his feet after having his ankles tapped, lifted the ball past the next defender, another burst of pace past the last man, (= 4 defenders) followed by a cool as you like finish into the bottom corner.

It wasn't as good as his goal against blackburn, but it was still pretty special. It wasn't so much that it was bad defending, just that the defenders couldn't get close to him!!

1 transfer with just gameweeks 34 and 35 in mind (wildcard available) what would you do? £2million banked.

    Vorm (Given)
    Evans, Kompany, Vermaelen (Kelly, Simpson)
    Sessegnon, Gylfi, McClean, Valencia (Dempsey)
    Rooney, RVP (Suarez)

I'm thinking Yakubu, Sagna or Aguero. Don't particularly want Bendtner or Graham as I have 2 players from their respective clubs already. Don't really want another Citeh defender and not interested in Sunderland's defence.

Aguero is too iffy really. If he plays well tomorrow then maybe he is an option. Sagna for Kelly is the best option I think

Think I'd go for Aguero there. Yak's fixtures are good for the next two also but would prefer Aguero.

Could I please get some thoughts on transfer possibilities for my team

Richards (nor), Evans (AVL), Rangel (BLA)
Valencia (AVL), Siggy (BLA), Surman (MCI)
RVP vc (WIG), Rooney c (AVL)

Bench: Bale, B Arfa, Adebayor, Cahill, Kelly, Krul, Begovic

    4.9M in the bank

So I only have 8 players at the moment and I'm looking to transfer out Bale for Sess with my 1 FT. Is this the right option? or should I look at other possibilities or possibly even taking a hit? I'd like to have at least 9 even if that included keeping Surman who should get me 2pts at least.

I would look to get rid of kelly, as you wouldn't need to play him in the double. Get Big Verm

I'm not normally one for taking a hit to get in a defender but do you think its worth it?

Sorry, Ryan, I missed the part about it being for a hit. Maybe not then. If you are going to take a hit, only do it for somebody you wouldn't have back for the double. And you will want all of your attacking options for the DGW. Do Bale - Sessegnon only if you can get him back as part of the plan. Otherwise, do Surnam - Sessegnon

Cheers, Surman > Sess is fairly sensible but I'd still be left with 8 players. Maybe thats ok, I don't know

fairly sensible but why give up a player who is already in your team for 34? Surman's fixtures are tripe but at least you have him in there already

Yeah I'd rather keep Surman. Perhaps Kelly > Verm as my FT is a better option and keeping Bale. Sess muddies the water a bit for the DGW as I want to start RVP, Rooney and Siggy for GW36 and I want 7 attacking players

Are you set on getting rid of Bale? Spurs fixtures are good for the run in and he's as likely to hit for points as anybody else

Cahill to Sunderland defender? You probably would not play Cahill against Ars in wk 35 anyway

Yeah but I have organised him for the bench in GW35. Rotation could be an issue with Cahill but I'd much rather have Verm than a Sunderland defender. Kelly > Verm isn't a bad option is it?

Kelly to Verm is a good one. You'll most likely play Verm in 4 of the remaining 5

Can't wait for Champions league semis and the final, the three best teams in the world at the moment (and Chelsea) going head to head, should be cracking.
