A double-whammy later and the Paddy Power Cup VI is down to just 32 fantasy managers. Rounds three and four went by in a flash, with 64 fantasy managers taking part in 96 head-to-head fixtures. The most recent 32 of which can be accessed right here.

On with the fifth round then, and the draw has been made and the full set of match-ups are as follows…

As you can see, the third and four rounds had some major casualties including yours truly and the gaffer, Mark. We’re also guaranteed a new name on trophy, as none of the former winners are in the mix. Each and every one failed to record the four straight wins required to reach the fifth round.

The truncated Gameweek 34 rears it’s ugly head towards the remaining Paddy Power Cup participants, and I wish them the best of luck as they tackle it. The fifth round results will be available shortly after the Gameweek has concluded.

        Mignolet (Schwarzer)
        Evans Sagna Caulker (Baines Williamson)
        Walcott Valencia Sigurdsson (Dempsey Ryo)
        RVP Rooney (Jelavic)

0.6 in the bank I think.

I'd like Sess but have no obvious person to take out. Thinking Jelavic to Bendy or The Yak.

    Rooney C over RVP

    -Wigan is in great form

-RVP didnt score in last several matches(penalty not included) and he is out of form

-Rooney will finally play as STRIKER since Ferguson is probablly very pissed

-Aston Villa defence sucks so badly

        haha.

i got mixed up with the R3 and R4 being close together. i was still looking at the link for the guy who i beat in R3 and not the guy from R4.

        i'm so stoooopid!

i think it'll be close this week. the team has chosen itself by default and the only decent (C) option is RvP.

          Looks like this:

          Mignolet vs blank
          McAuley vs Taiwo
          Walcott vs Kompany

Might just have to concede this one haha. I'll captain RVP regardless. Hopefully Taiwo comes through for me, a Kompany goal would be hilarious!

            i think he knows things.

looking at my PP VI tie, we have a near identical team but he currently has only 10 on the pitch.

i think it he made the Bale/Demps > Walcott transfer this week so it probably all boils down to McAuley vs Richards

Depends who your DGW players are - if there are any ones you'd consider to be weak (Fulham defenders, Bolton players) then you may consider swapping them out. Don't forget the players that are taken out of GW34 will play double GW36, so it's the same in the long run. Also ask yourself - do you value a 100pt gameweek higher than a red arrow?

I'm going in with 9. Can't see the point in a 4pt hit to get in a non dgwk defender I'm unlikely to play much and transfer out a lucrative dgwker. Having a front 7 is key though.

My DGW players are Santon, Baines, Bale, Dempsey and Cisse. Tempted to bring in Sess for Bale and then get VDV in for the DGW. Midfield is very weak:

        Vorm
        Verm Evans Turner
        McLean Surman Valencia
        Rooney RVP

Ok, so it boils down to this for gw 36:

    Krul*
    Simpson*/Enrigue*/?
    Dempsey*/Siggy/Mclean/?
    Rvp/Cisse*/?

    Rest: Vorm/Walcott/Rooney/Caulker/Verm/Evans/Valencia

Options are: 3 of the following....BAE/Baines/A.cole/Bale/Ade/Pienaar for a -4pt hit

Caulker(WOL) has ok gw 36 so I could play him and save the 4pts.

Would Ideally like to keep one of Rooney/Val for Swans(gw37). Walcott(NOR) would be nice for gw37 as well....

    😕

Defenders wise its a tough call. All 3 you mention have double figure potential. However like you say you could easily play Caulker or Verm.

I would be tempted to get Bale and Ade in for the -4 but that means dumping Valencia or Walcott I guess and if your getting in Ade you would be dumping Rooney, making the United coverage a bit thin for GW37.

I'm going 4-4-2 this week and benching Dempsey. Not sure there's too many other great options unless you double up with McClean?

Or try and transfer defence instead and keep Bale.

I doubt Rooney will be playing up front, Man Utd haven't really had trouble scoring and Fergie isn't going to go crazy and tell Man Utd to go all out attack and try win 5-1

He'll play it safe and be patient and get the 2-0 win, no need to overeact after one result at Wigan
