This Gameweek has proven to be a big headache for the Scout Committee team, and with a limited pool of talent to choose from, we’ve had to dig deep to fish out three worthy “Differential” selections for you. We’ve ended up with an Austrian, a Spaniard and a Serb. Stop me if you’ve heard this one before…

Andreas Weimann

Aston Villa have arguably the toughest fixture of any of the teams playing this weekend with a trip to Old Trafford on the agenda but we’re thinking ahead here, boxing clever. While returns are likely to be limited on Sunday afternoon, Weimann should be considered as a worthy option – Villa’s double Gameweek 35 means they play three times when every other team plays just once or twice, introducing an interesting strategy for navigating the next three Gameweeks. The paradox of fielding a full XI this week is that you end up with less players with a double Gameweek 36, but by using players from Bolton and Aston Villa, you can boost the number of matches in Gameweek 35 and gain an extra fixture without taking a points hit.

Obviously this strategy only comes good if Weimann plays every game and in that respect, it’s a risky choice. All the signs stack up in the Austrian’s favour however; he managed his first 90 minute run out last time out and Alex Mcleish has been raving about him in the press following his wonder goal against Stoke. Villa look all but safe from relegation and have little left to play for and, considering his main rival in the side – Emile Heskey – is unlikely to earn a new contract in the summer, you’d have to bet on the youngster getting his chance over the remaining games.

Fixtures and rotation risks aside, Weimann looks a real prospect. That’s two goals in the last five Gameweeks now, which is already more than Heskey has managed all season. Priced at 5.0 he can fit any budget, and with less than 1000 owners at the time of writing, he is currently a proud member of the 0.0% club. With United likely to be jittery following the Wigan defeat, the young Austrian’s fearless approach may just trouble them.

Aleksandar Kolarov

While Weimann is a pick that could come good once the Gameweek has passed, Aleksandar Kolarov is the opposite – a potential one-hit wonder who could possibly pay off big this weekend for those willing to take the punt. The Serbian is notorious around these parts for letting us down when we throw his name into the ring, so this one comes with a health warning. Even so, if Roberto Mancini chooses to rotate Gael Clichy and hand Kolarov an outing at Carrow Road, the formbook says he’ll make an impact.

Kolarov has notched a goal and three assists in his last two league starts – admittedly they were home matches but, in a Gameweek where clean sheets could be a scarcity, Kolarov has attacking potential that few defenders can rival based on form over recent outings. With just 0.8% ownership, if you take temporary membership to the Kolorov fan club (Mark is still the chairman, secretary and treasurer) then it could pay dividends at a time when gambles could be the order of the day.

Mikel Arteta

While Theo Walcott hoovers up transfers, his Spanish team-mate has quietly and efficiently blinked on the radar of late thanks to some outstanding home form. Two goals in his last two Emirates encounters, with maximum bonus thrown in, bodes well for Arteta. He has also amassed his most impressive performances stats over the past four Gameweeks – our members can dip and see for themselves how he compares to the field right now. In a nutshell, then, Arteta is in his best form of the season, just in time for luckless Wigan to arrive in his backyard.

The smart money will be on Robin Van Persie and Theo Walcott to help themselves to further attacking returns but playmaker Arteta, with just 4.8% ownership, looks an ideal option for those seeking something a little different, with form to back it up.

I'm really sorry for asking this question again but I just need one more set of comments to decide...so here goes:

    1. Would you pick a striker motivated by relegation playing away against a team that has been brilliant most of the season at home but cracking slightly but with an unknown factor that could see them dominate the game completely (their motivation maybe a little low as well).

    or

    2. Pick a striker, at home, who is playing for a team playing with not much motivation to achieve something really other than the pride of winning and playing well most of the time but against a team fighting relegation and not succeeding at all at getting out of it but with tons of motivation but probably low in moral?

Was thinking 1 but talks of other players running the show makes me want to go with 2. Also, my rival has 1 so I will match him and outdo him with more players playing this week or 2 will allow me a differential but a fresh set I points that could work out or fail me horribly.

      B. Or Wingy?

I went yak, just on his goal scoring record so far... Despit the jacks decen home form, and ability to keep cleanes at the liberty.

Any Vorm/Sorensen owners? What are you doing? My plan was to stick with Vorm till the end of the season, but watching Krul pick up all those cleanies recently coupled with the fact that I don't even have a Newcastle defender has really hurt me bad in the last few weeks. 🙁 Would it really be that bad to waste a tranny on a GK?

I have to do Shotton -> Turner to field XI this week. Ideally, I would have loved to get Williamson in so that I can switch Sorensen to Mignolet next week. But this GW has thrown a spanner in the works. 😐

Only get turner if you are very confident of a Sunderland cleanie.

Simple question for me given what's around the gw corner...

If you think Sunderland will keep a clean sheet v wolves, bring in turner or Bardsley.

If you think wolves will score don't keep the trade fr the dgw. 2pts or less not worth a precious trade to use and abuse in 36

I wish I were in your position.

Haha, yeah, the DGW is the only concern; otherwise I find saving transfers a bit overrated. Lost countless points in the past showing patience saving transfers when the player I could have brought that week did well. 😐

A lot of thought went into that JK, that kinda thinking sets the standard and it shows in your rank, it's clear to me the reason I'm back in 85k is the lack of vision and forward planning, this is my first full season and I've learnt a lot hoping to improve next year, this site can only help us all in the chase for the ultimate holy grail. Vorm(schw)
    Jevan,jescott,turner. (Kelly)(Simpson)
    Soggy,sess,wally,val,(bale)
    Rvp,roo(ba)
Plans are schw> bodgan and ba>cisse gw 35 for a hit. Not having Dempsey worries me slightly but I can just afford him by swapping out bale-this would be another hit but at this stage I'm prepared to gamble on dempsey not going ballistic. Does anyone see a better option for 3rd striker, I'm not so sure bout newc dgw , I genuinely don't fancy ade , I could feed the yak but no dgw although Blackburn will fight to the death and then there's jelly but I'm concerned about rotation/cup.

Wigan have only conceded 6 in their last 6. That includes the two offside goals v chelsea, and includes games against man utd, chelsea and liverpool

Villa have conceded 10 in the same period. Including arsenal, chelsea and liverpool

    Wolves have conceded 17

Was set on RVP captain all week, but now rethinking. Man Utd will be looking to make amends this week. Rooney could go mental. I think I am going to captain him. Sessegnon for Mrs China Mag

I've just discovered that my main rival has made 4 transfers for this gameweek (2 FT), this seems like good news for me as it was only his defence that weren't having game time this weekend.
I'm just wandering if anyone can spot any logic to his play? I'm confident that this'll hand me victory over him, probably not this week, but almost certainly over the next 2 GWs (barring a complete fluke), but am I overlooking something?
He's been ahead of me all season until GW31 so maybe he's panicking? We share the following players... Yak, RvP, Walcott, Valencia, Sess, Vorm

However, if he does leave, we can get in somebody more suited to that position AND we won't lose both our main strikers to the african nations cup in january!!

    Repost

Got a question & want to see your views guys.

I am playing 10 this week with a FT (including Turner) with Senderos as my only option to upgrade.
I could spend the FT to get a defender for the next 2 weeks at least.

I have Evans, Simpson, Shawcross & Turner.

Whoever the new player is will have to score at least 0(GW34) + (Shawcross or Turner in GW35) + 4 points.

Does this make a good case for selling Senderos?

Replacements include Verm(makes Cisse next week impossible) or Cuellar (DGW & bap magnet)

    Thanks in advance.

So you currently have 10 and a ft?

If so, keep your ft. Dont waste it on a def, unless you go for villa to hope get points next week but I think evn that may not be too fruitful.

          Whose your keeper?

Given will at least get save points this week.

Personally, I would hold until next week if you are playing 10 with 2 def and a gk.

That's what all the smart kids would do 😉
