Carlos Tevez takes the title race and the Gameweek by the scruff of the neck with a stunning display in City’s merciless mauling of Norwich. United duly picked up the gauntlet, however, with a four-goal drubbing of Villa this afternoon.

Our Members can lose themselves in the statistics from all of the Gameweek’s matches so far – here’s our pick of the key numbers, together with our thoughts on the destination of the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) bonus points…

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

ARS/EVE, qpr, BOL looks arguably the best run-in of the lot.

Not that sure that Spurs will come back strongly, they have been flagging for a while and look a bit empty and a small bit lacking the stomach for a fight recently. Having said that Bale did run himself to a standstill yesterday and i'll probably get BAE and hope for some cleansheets!

I thought that about Demps versus Bolton.

I'm getting him for the double. Yes they are two tough away games, but I can't see Liverpool being that focused with an FA Cup on the horizon.

Also Demps is mr double gameweek...he has himself in his own FPL team and only gets himself in for doubles.

        (I'm also sticking with Siggy)

No because he may not have the best angle. The linesman always has a fantastic angle for an offside. Offsides are generally far more obvious than a dive. Referees shouldn't have to ref dives anyway, that is a question of a players character whereas offsides are sometimes marginal things that isn't anyone's deliberate fault

It's subjective right? Players "dive" at times to protect themselves - Bale for instance has used this defense before

Yeah and that is actually the best argument too. I think its possible to judge between the two though. There should be an independent review panel so players can be fined or even suspended for diving

That isn't my argument though, if we're defining "cheating" as influencing the ref to give an incorrect decision, then every player does it every game more or less, the difference between a dive and a false claim of a throw-in is one of degree not nature.

I'm happy to accept that it's broadly speaking "wrong" within the rules, so it fouling, both are punished when spotted, my point was more about that it isn't really the mattter of principle that people make it out to be, people will happily accept cheating up to a point.

"people will happily accept cheating up to a point" I agree with this point. Diving is at the worst end though and you will find that people find it unacceptable compared to a foul throw and the like

Yea you make a fair point and I agree with it, I guess the point I was trying to make was illustrated by the responses I got when I asked "what is wrong with diving?" and everyone said simply "it's cheating" as if it were a matter of inviolable principle rather than a more pragmatic shades-of-grey calculation on the likely effect of cheating, which all players do.

Right and I agree with you for the most part. It's mostly instinctual for an athlete of that level to try to gain any advantage possible (within certain bounds) so it doesn't bother me so much as to want to implement even more severe punishments for them - public shaming & ridicule should do the job. "Diving" is different to a false claim of a throw-in in that there is the added dimension of said "diver's" health so it's harder to determine the motivation behind it.

Rooney - RVP - Cisse is still the dream trio I think.

I love all the talk about Rooney off form, dropping too deep etc.....the stats show that at home at least he is still piling on the shots. I'll happily take a regular 10 pts from a supposedly poor Wayne any day.

I know Jonty (shakes head in dispair).

However, I'm chasing a 21 pt lead (formerly a 30 pt lead *grin*) and I just acn't see that Bale and a couple of differences in defence are going to chase down those points in 4 weeks. I think Tevez away to Wolves and home to his old club could be brutal, and tis so damn hard to fit all 3 in up front without reduce large parts of the rest of my team to dross. I much prefer keeping Valencia over Walcott in midfield (one will be going), so that leaves me selling Rooney.....

this has been my point on cisse so far - he wont keep scoring. My only reasoning for bringing him in is that both my rivals have him and are below me. On paper, Wigan and Chelsea away are hard games atm.

Pre FA cup final chelsea though will be much easier. And don't get too caught up in the Wigan love, they have found some good form and taken some team's by surprise but few teams will underestimate them from now on. Wigan are in a relegation scrap and Newcastle are pushing for a Europe place for a reason.

Cisse is a goal scoring machine...I'll ditch when his goals dry up but not before, and certainly not before a double.

Why the hell would you want to sell one of RVP, Ro and Aguero now that you have them all? Walcott > Bale and Sess > HBA and you're sorted.

Rooney hasn't really done well against Everton so you can be sure he may not score. Tevez is definitely a differential. If you're looking to chase points in your league, you can take a punt on him!

There's a good chance any player won't score in any given fixture - when the goal scoring odds are up for the weekend Rooney will have some of the shortest odds (although probably longer than Tevez/Aguero).

I asked this a while back. I think they have to weigh up how bad the injury is, how long it will take to heal and the quality of life for the animal. Plus unfortunately they factor in medical bills they would have to fork out when they are in the business of profiting from the horses. I can't imagine the vets on hand being in any hurry to put down an animal. It's just a shame that the nature of the sport means there is a serious risk to the animals.

The Cup final is on Saturday 5th May. Liverpool host Fulham on the Tuesday before where I am sure they will rotate. Suarez isn’t an option for the double then, nor Gerrard. Given the Reina situation of the last couple of weeks even he may be rotated. I’m certain – given their injury records – that Gerrard, Johnson and Agger will e rested too. Skrtel looks the safest bet if you want/still have him. Wait for it.. Even Andy Carroll will be rested! Dempsey is looking more promising then. Even Kelly/Schwarzer if you have them, although many will still bench these.

Chelsea play a day later at home to Newcastle on the Weds and could be an even bigger minefield selection wise. Annoying, this just makes Newcastle players more attractive - HBA and that damned ‘offside Dave’ bloke especially. Still want to take a punt on the Jellyman myself, the Wolves fixture afterwards is arguably just as attractive as the double itself.
