Wayne Hennessey is out for the next six months for Wolves. Roy Hodgson admits it’s highly unlikely James Morrison will feature again this season, Alex McLeish receives an injury boost ahead of Villa’s double Gameweek, while a fit-again John O’Shea looks set to return for Sunderland this weekend:

Wolves have this afternoon confirmed Wayne Hennessey has been ruled out for up to six months after sustaining a knee injury at Sunderland last weekend. Scans taken yesterday revealed the keeper has damaged cruciate ligaments, with the Welshman now set to undergo surgery in order to alleviate the problem. The news means Dorus de Vries is set to take over in goal for the final four Gameweeks of the season – the club have today recalled Carl Ikeme from a loan spell at Doncaster for back-up on the bench. De Vries could hardly ask for a more difficult first start of the season this weekend, though; Terry Connor’s side entertain the on-song Sergio Aguero and Carlos Tevez, as City roll up to Molineux.

Roy Hodgson is confident that Jonas Olsson will be ready to return for the Baggies this weekend. The centre-half picked up a groin problem in the warm-up prior to last Saturday’s win over QPR but is on course to come back for Sunday’s trip to Liverpool. Marc-Antoine Fortune is a doubt, however; the forward limped off at the Hawthorns with a hamstring problem, with his possible absence likely to afford Shane Long a chance to partner Peter Odemwingie up top. Hodgson also revealed that both James Morrison and Zoltan Gera are highly unlikely to play any further part of the current campaign – with the Baggies safe from the drop, their manager sees no sense in risking the fitness of either player at this point:

I’m not very optimistic. I would have to be 100 per cent sure I wasn’t endangering their pre-season or next season by putting them back in – we don’t need to. We’ve achieved our goal with more than four games to go which is fantastic. It would take a lot for me to throw them back in. They would need to be 100 per cent raring to go and be training with me for at least a week or two before I throw them back in. We want them fit for next season.

Gael Givet has denied suggestions that he refused to take to the field in Blackburn’s game at Swansea last weekend. The defender was left out of the squad for the 3-0 defeat –Rovers’ fifth successive loss – with Steve Kean stating post-match he asked the defender to play but decided he was “not in the right frame of mind” to turn out against the Swans. Having failed to feature since Gameweek 24, Givet’s chances of a first-team opportunity over the final four Gameweeks look bleak as the relegation trap door beckons ever-nearer for the Ewood Park outfit.

Alex McLeish has been handed a timely boost ahead of Villa’s upcoming double Gameweek 35. McLeish revealed the injuries are starting to clear up for the midlands outfit, with the likes of Marc Albrighton, Chris Herd, Ciaran Clark and Stephen Warnock all close to being available for the games against Sunderland and Bolton. Speaking on the club’s official website, McLeish revealed:

Marc has not trained yet with the group. But it’s likely that he’ll train on Thursday and he’ll be available. Ciaran has got a head knock, but he’s fine, he’s not in the same situation as Herdy was. Herdy’s stopped seeing stars and he’s fine. Fingers crossed he’s available for the weekend. Stevie is training with the physios at the moment. He’s still got a wee bit of puffiness in his ankle but he said he was feeling quite good. If they can work on getting the fluid out of his ankle then I would like to think he’s got a chance of making the squad for the weekend.

The Villa boss also went on to say that Carlos Cuellar and Charles N’Zogbia are both in contention for starts. The duo have both been sidelined with injury of late and have recently returned to the first-team squad but, having proved their fitness over the last few days, are in the frame for a place in the first XI against Sunderland on Saturday.

Martin O’Neill looks set to welcome back John O’Shea this weekend, with the former United man now fully recovered from the calf problem that has kept him out of the last four matches. While Matthew Kilgallon has performed admirably alongside Matthew Turner in the Black Cats’ last two home games, picking up two clean sheet, O’Neill’s outfit have conceded seven goals in their last two road trips without O’Shea, suggesting the Irishman is likely to return to the first XI for the visit to Villa Park.

People mentioning taking Sess and McClean out for the DGW... forgive me if I'm wrong, but aren't they playing at home where they have only lost 1 in their last 6, vs a team (bolton) who just seem incapable of doing anything with a football?

I own McClean and unless I'm missing something, he'll be one of the single GW players I select come GW36

    Sigurdsson (WOLVES)
    McClean (BOLTON)
    Dempsey (DGW)

With Valencia or Walcott making way for Pienaar.

I own both, am selling sess i think and keeping McClaen, can;t play both and McClean is cheaper.

I will bench him though I think

Pienaar, Bale, Dempsey and Siggy in mid for me.

RvP, Tevez and Cisse up top.

They also failed to beat (or even score against) Wolves at home and haven't won in their last 3 (i know one of them were Man City, but they still threw away a decent lead). They've also got 2 very tough fixtures after the DGW and some people might see it as sensible to get players in who've got better fixtures after the DGW and not need to waste transfers on getting them out.

MON is has threatened to bring in youngsters plus Sunderland have failed to score in their last 3 games.
At the same time, it would be on par with playing Walcott or Valencia, which I'll probably have to do.

Nah. Silva hasn't looked dangerous for a while. When/if Man City score big, the majority of the points are going to be for Tevez & Aguero.

Personally I think Silva is too expensive for a bit part player.

so i guess football to you is epitomised by mourinho's tactical masterstroke of employing cynical anti-football to counter barca's actual proficiency at tapping round that little white ball. for all that it worked it is not how i'd like to see the game bein played. coincidence that the two teams you despise are agreed by all to be the two most entertaining practitioners of the sport in the last 15 years? you must really not like football

Suggest you look at goals scored while Mourinho was at Chelsea and Real Madrid.
Honestly it's quite boring to know that your team (Man U or Barca) play most of their matches knowing they will either be playing against 10 (or fewer) men or will get a penalty. To me that is anti-football...beat the short handed team into the ground until they make a mistake or create contact to win a penalty.

Just one wishlist for FFS website ahead of next season:

    1. Please change the comment system to auto load with play/pause (similar to that of soccernet). Crunch time here is always overkill if an interesting discussion is going on and suddenly you reload and you end up on 7 pages up.

The Kun / Tevez choice is easy when compared to my current choice:-

With one 2 year old and another on the way I need to do the decent thing and pop the question, so

    - to buy ring first or let her choose
    - where to do it and when
    - how much to spend on the ring.

Went for an initial look today and in this shop you don't get much for less than £3k

    agghh

Surely you're 2 years late doing the decent thing? 😉

Joke. You should buy the ring you can afford but I don't think its the most important thing. You could buy a nice ring as a placeholder (engagement rings are cheaper) than go shopping together for the official one. That'd give you time to save up.

Where and when, I couldn't say, I think the best ones I've heard are personal to the couple. So maybe somewhere special to the two of you?

      - 3 months wages is what they say you should spend but I guess it's different for everyone.

      - Get some info from her mates as to watch ring she might like so you have a rough idea.

      - Best place to do it would be somewhere significant or memorable for you both. Or on a spontaneous trip you can book for the two of you.

Think I have a bit of an idea what she likes, plus guy today said she could swop it.

Make sure you pick three slow months then. 😉

Online may sound a bit rubbish, but that's what we got. Basically choose your metal, and diamond seperately, then they make it for you
We (I) spent 1950 pounds but it was valued at 5k straight away. 🙂

Right, good on you, do it!!

I personally went for great proposal venue with no ring.
We then searched together so I basically new exactly what type, then I made the final purchase, worked best for us, but I guess all women are different?

Maybe propose with a cheap/semi joke ring, then buy the real one together?
1 months salary for me, though bear in mind I then spent 1 years salary on the wedding!!!

Little bit preview in mean time

Both teams have shown little generosity to opponents in this season’s competition. Chelsea have recorded five straight home victories, scoring 16 times, while Barcelona posted four straight away wins prior to their 0-0 draw at AC Milan in the quarter-final.
