Wayne Hennessey is out for the next six months for Wolves. Roy Hodgson admits it’s highly unlikely James Morrison will feature again this season, Alex McLeish receives an injury boost ahead of Villa’s double Gameweek, while a fit-again John O’Shea looks set to return for Sunderland this weekend:

Wolves have this afternoon confirmed Wayne Hennessey has been ruled out for up to six months after sustaining a knee injury at Sunderland last weekend. Scans taken yesterday revealed the keeper has damaged cruciate ligaments, with the Welshman now set to undergo surgery in order to alleviate the problem. The news means Dorus de Vries is set to take over in goal for the final four Gameweeks of the season – the club have today recalled Carl Ikeme from a loan spell at Doncaster for back-up on the bench. De Vries could hardly ask for a more difficult first start of the season this weekend, though; Terry Connor’s side entertain the on-song Sergio Aguero and Carlos Tevez, as City roll up to Molineux.

Roy Hodgson is confident that Jonas Olsson will be ready to return for the Baggies this weekend. The centre-half picked up a groin problem in the warm-up prior to last Saturday’s win over QPR but is on course to come back for Sunday’s trip to Liverpool. Marc-Antoine Fortune is a doubt, however; the forward limped off at the Hawthorns with a hamstring problem, with his possible absence likely to afford Shane Long a chance to partner Peter Odemwingie up top. Hodgson also revealed that both James Morrison and Zoltan Gera are highly unlikely to play any further part of the current campaign – with the Baggies safe from the drop, their manager sees no sense in risking the fitness of either player at this point:

I’m not very optimistic. I would have to be 100 per cent sure I wasn’t endangering their pre-season or next season by putting them back in – we don’t need to. We’ve achieved our goal with more than four games to go which is fantastic. It would take a lot for me to throw them back in. They would need to be 100 per cent raring to go and be training with me for at least a week or two before I throw them back in. We want them fit for next season.

Gael Givet has denied suggestions that he refused to take to the field in Blackburn’s game at Swansea last weekend. The defender was left out of the squad for the 3-0 defeat –Rovers’ fifth successive loss – with Steve Kean stating post-match he asked the defender to play but decided he was “not in the right frame of mind” to turn out against the Swans. Having failed to feature since Gameweek 24, Givet’s chances of a first-team opportunity over the final four Gameweeks look bleak as the relegation trap door beckons ever-nearer for the Ewood Park outfit.

Alex McLeish has been handed a timely boost ahead of Villa’s upcoming double Gameweek 35. McLeish revealed the injuries are starting to clear up for the midlands outfit, with the likes of Marc Albrighton, Chris Herd, Ciaran Clark and Stephen Warnock all close to being available for the games against Sunderland and Bolton. Speaking on the club’s official website, McLeish revealed:

Marc has not trained yet with the group. But it’s likely that he’ll train on Thursday and he’ll be available. Ciaran has got a head knock, but he’s fine, he’s not in the same situation as Herdy was. Herdy’s stopped seeing stars and he’s fine. Fingers crossed he’s available for the weekend. Stevie is training with the physios at the moment. He’s still got a wee bit of puffiness in his ankle but he said he was feeling quite good. If they can work on getting the fluid out of his ankle then I would like to think he’s got a chance of making the squad for the weekend.

The Villa boss also went on to say that Carlos Cuellar and Charles N’Zogbia are both in contention for starts. The duo have both been sidelined with injury of late and have recently returned to the first-team squad but, having proved their fitness over the last few days, are in the frame for a place in the first XI against Sunderland on Saturday.

Martin O’Neill looks set to welcome back John O’Shea this weekend, with the former United man now fully recovered from the calf problem that has kept him out of the last four matches. While Matthew Kilgallon has performed admirably alongside Matthew Turner in the Black Cats’ last two home games, picking up two clean sheet, O’Neill’s outfit have conceded seven goals in their last two road trips without O’Shea, suggesting the Irishman is likely to return to the first XI for the visit to Villa Park.

Exactly. Lets not gloss over the trouble that has been in the Argentina camp over the years too. Messi trains mostly with the Barcelona team so is more comfortable with them. It's the same with most players. Plus the positioning and tactics are different for both teams. Best player in the world.

Its just not even an issue, the best player easily, skill, consistency, finishing, assisting, and to top it all a shy retiring type
Ronaldo is great, but not great enough
Another 2 years of this and he will be the best player ever

Those saying he only does it for Barca and not for Argentina have to realise its harder to win the CL than the WC IMO

All hype? So I assume Xavi and Iniesta score all the goals for him too? They're and important component of the team but you need true skill to get the goals he does. Plus when he starts a run from the middle of the pitch, takes on all the defenders and chips the keeper that makes the "Xavi and Iniesta do everything for him" argument redundant.

You're also glossing over the fact that the Argentinian team had Maradonna as manager during the World Cup who was an utter disaster and childish in his tactics. He very often left his best players out of the squad because he didn't get on well with them.

It's not based on trophies won? It's based on the better player. The better players don't always win the trophies, for example Robin Van Persie. One of the best strikers in the world with very few trophies. Does that take away from his skill level?

he jus hasnt been considered because hes always injured, this season is his most consistent, so im not surprised if he isnt talked about this year, so dont use rvp as an example

But you're saying the players who win more trophies deserve to win it? Your entire argument has been based on the fact that Xavi and Iniesta have one the World Cup even though they were part of a much more cohesive squad than the Argentinian squad. So I will use RVP as an example if all you're going to do is use the World Cup as the reason for Messi not deserving it.

When did I suggest Xavi or Iniesta didn't have skill? Two of the best players in the modern game. That doesn't make them better than Messi.

I know these are pretty unusual bets but how do these sound?

    More than 9 corners @ 5/6

Chelsea to get more corners 15/8

It is actually a fun bet to be following, interest right to the end 🙂

Guy I compete with is 43 points behind me (not in my mini-league) and has taken a 4pt hit this week. I suspect he's got in Aguero/Tevez or both. I was originally sticking with RVP/Rooney and saving a transfer, ready for the dgw. Should I change my plans and get in a City striker?

My chasing rival brought in Aguero last week. I am swapping Rooney out - either for Aguero to block him, or to Tevez for a showboat. Sensible/negative vs. flair. I will probably be wavering over it all week.

Yep, must admit, City could easily revert back to previous home form and that's been part of my thinking. Also, how much gametime will Ag/Tevez get?

Part of me is saying stick to original plan and have two frees for 36. How do you see it?

At the moment, that's what I'm doing...sticking. But then again I stubbornly held off getting Cisse when he was plainly in form, and regret that now. An extra 4 point hit would have been well worth it.

I'm plainly undecided. What puts me off is which of Aguero/Tevez to get, and Mancini's possible rotation. And one could easily see them win 4-0 with goals from Johnson, Silva, Barry and Dzeko for example. That sort of thing has happened before.

I might see what they say on the scoutcast...

I'm seriously tempted though. Which would you rather get if you did get one?

Aguero - purely as he's on pens and he seems to benefit having Tevez about.

There must be a hard and fast ff rule over indecision. If in doubt, stay put. Or something like that.

I think the best thing you can do is give it as much time as possible.

I am going to try my best to hold out. I guess one would have to treat it as a one week punt for a 4 pt hit (even if in reality it's for free, given that one wants at least 2 transfers for the dgw).

Can one be sure that Aguero beats either RVP or Rooney when you add a 4 to their score? Even away to Wolves, it's a gamble...

Good point at the end there...and I think that's what's guiding me. Rooney could easily get 8-9 pts at OT and likewise RVP, so you'd be covering your bases and making a Citeh striker redundant.

I think this is where I'm heading.

Would you say a 12 point hit in GW36 to have 8 DGWers is too much? Only 2/4 of my GW34 are players I actually want for the DGW hence the large hit. Planned transfers are:

GW35 (2 frees) Rooney and Ryo to Cisse and Dempsey
GW36 Shotton, Kolarov, Walcott and Valencia to Huth, BAE, Bale and Pienaar 12 point hit

    Leaves me with:

    Krul
    Baines, BAE, Huth
    Bale, Dempsey, Pienaar, Siggy
    RVP, Tevez, Cisse

    Vorm, McClean, Verm, Evans

If you can justify it then do it.

Yeah I think I can. Had I planned things better I could have done the same for a 4 point hit but way too late for that.

Anybody else worried about not having Tevez? I'd have to take a hit to get him in. If he starts I see him going crazy at Molineux

I'm going without him. I don't think he will hurt you that much.

Not getting him either could do some damage but so could lots of others.

I fancy a Chelsea goal from a corner. They better have worked on their set pieces.

I think it's mostly over-eager kids bringing them in. That doesn't mean it won't work out for them, though...

And this is all very true. Which is why it would be a one week thing. Wolves minus their 1st goalie could be in a ridiculous amount of trouble.

I can't use up my transfers for a one week punt when the DGW is so close. That's why I'm not doing it. However I do think aguero/tevez will score.

The thing is both are perfect captain material for this week! I don't have either at the moment but have the 2 big hitters (RVP/ROO). Captaining Demps at the moment but not feeling confident. Would feel much happier seeing Tevez wearing the armband!

I think I know the answer but...

rival (60 odd pts behind) has RVP | Rooney | Aguero

Almost certainly captaining Aguero this week.

    I have RVP | Rooney | Bendtner

I want to do Bendtner > Cisse for the double

I also want to do Rooney to one of the Argentina twins and captain him for a 4pt hit.

Bearing all this back story would you:

    A) Aguero - negative/sensible depending how you look at it
    B) Tevez - flair/stupid depending how you look at it

No money on it or anything. I am leaning toward the latter.

I have Nasri too if that makes any difference at all...

But it's just not needed is what I mean. he has the quality but would rather dive. Stops the fluidity of the play just so he can have a little cry.

    Question for you clever fellows!

    Next week I have a Mid/Front of:

    Bale / Dempsey / Siggy / Valencia
    Cisse / Rooney / RVP

On my bench I have Eagles! (DGW)

Its probablly just the lure of the DGW drawing me in, but in order to play eagles I have to bench one of the above.....Who! (Or should I just leave him on the bench).

Best answer I can get is bench Bale....dont really want to but he is the most out of form....but he has a good fixture.

    Any Ideas?
