The sixth run of the Paddy Power Cup enters Gameweek 35 with just 16 Fantasy managers left in the hunt. Having successfully navigated Round Five (results right here), the Last 16 draw has been made and the eight fixtures are as follows…

1Bubba FettVs.Sarnab-Wazzagoal
2OptimusVs.SiggySongOxSessDemps
3stumanchuuVs.DestroyersofWorlds
4mchVs.jamie1974
5fredwesthamVs.ajay_kl
6DrDVs.Mowgli
7dannnVs.Sporting Abeergut
8FitzuationVs.Rickys Army

Having eliminated the 29th ranked fuml_akimbo in the fifth round, fredwestham has his reward with a plum tie against the lowest ranked manager left in the competition – 62,699th placed ajay_kl.

It’s now jamie1974 that takes the mantle as the highest-ranked contender in the tournament. The 702nd placed fantasy manager is in the tie of the round as well, matched up against mch, who finished the Members Paddy Power Cup II in third place.

Good luck to the final 16 fantasy managers competing in the Paddy Power Cup VI. I’ll bring you the results shortly after the Gameweek 35 fixtures have been decided.

I have Bogdan... should I play him this week or go with Vorm?

    Vorm (bol)
    Bogdan (SWA, villa)

Gylfi will probably score, so I expect 2 points or less v Swansea. Not sure about Villa.

Pointless getting either Tevez or Aguero in my opinion. It'll only be for one week as the following week you'll be looking to shift for a DGW striker plus it will mean losing either Rooney Or RVP who both have a home fixture. Don't bother people!

Wolves have let in 23 goals in the past 8 gameweeks. That is just barely under 3 goals a game. 13 of those goals were conceded at home.

Agreed, but the fact that he shifts to a defensive mid from time to time is unbearable for me.

I want a city Striker for GW 36 > Rooney anyways, and wolves are terrible defensively while Everton are not.

Rooney might score 1, but I see city scoring more.

I also have 2 other Man U players, so getting a 2 pointer from Rooney would be annoying.

I'm not very well educated on the title race though.. Are ManU likely to go guns ablazing to win this game to keep their lead? Or puke all over themselves like they did at Wigan just to get pumped up for their next game?

Can I ask why everyone is saying to stick to Rooney over Tevez/Aguero? Do people believe he can do more damage or is it because of the rotation risk at City/ losing value on Rooney? I mean Wolves have conceded 23 goals in 8 Gws and 13 of them were at home so I'm not sure why Tevez or Aguero aren't worthy of fitting in ahead of Rooney.

^ Mainly this for me. Tevez/Aguero might score more points in that one GW, but the amount of lost points it will cost me in lost transfers and DGW players, it doesn't seem worth it.

But at most you're talking about it costing you a 4 point hit. Whereas if Tevez or Aguero score 3 again and someone captains them you're talking about 34 points. Just saying...I haven't decided yet!

You're thinking about it too simply. It's potentialy lots more than just a 4 point hit. It also means missing out on a DGW player and is also a lost transfer. Depending on what your plans are, that could add up to a lot of potential points thrown away.

How so? Rooney to Aguero for free, then Aguero to Adebayor for -4 next week. Versus rooney to Adebayor for free next week... Every double gameweek player is only 4 points away.

Well it's only one FT lost so that means one player. One player who plays over 60 minutes will equal 4 points. The most you could really hope for is this player returns 2 goals a game (which is fairly generous) so that would be 16-20 points depending on position plus 2 rounds of 3 Bps. So if all of that happens a Striker would get 26 points. If Aguero or Tevez score three this weekend (easily possible) That's 12 + 2 + 3 which is 18. If I then take a 4 point hit to get our "wonder" DGW player that will be 26-4 = 22 points from him. Over the two weeks it could be possible to earn 40 points from 2 players. This is all based on theory and nothing can be nailed down of course 😀 But a four point hit to get a really high scoring DGW player isn't such a disaster especially if you reap the benefits of a City demolition of Wolves?

Looking at it from that point of view, I'd assume people would only want players who have a very good chance at playing both games and getting points in the DGW. So a 4 point hit for a player who will play both games would result in 0 points lost assuming they play over 60 in both games and could still reap big returns. So I don't know if that would be good enough to avoid a potential massive City haul..

Does my new plans for GW 35 and 36, and 37 look nice?

    GW 35:Rooney>Aguero, already done

For GW 36 I have 2FT and 1.9M in bank

    GW 36:RVP,Tony V,McAuley>Jelavic,Bale,Huth for a 4pt hit

Will leave me with 6.5M in bank, enough for me to do this, for GW 37 I will do P Cisse>RVP, because Cisse has in GW 37 and 38 (mci, eve) and RVP has (NOR,wba)

These plans will leave me with this team for the amazing DGW 36:

    Krul(che,wig)

    BAE(BLA,bol)-Caulker(WOL)-Huth(ARS,EVE)

    Dempsey(eve,liv)-Siggy(WOL)-Sessegnon(BOL)-Bale(BLA,bol)

    Aguero(MUN)-Jelavic(FUL,sto)-Cisse(che,wig)

    You likey? 😀
