Mikel Arteta is out for the season with an ankle injury. Anderson and Paul Pogba won’t feature for United again this term, either. Yakubu and Junior Hoilett return to training for Blackburn, Harry Redknapp is sweating on the fitness of “four or five” players, while Brendan Rodgers hopes to give some of Swansea’s fringe players a run out before the campaign is over.

Mikel Arteta has been ruled out for the season with an ankle injury. Arsene Wenger revealed earlier today that the midfielder will not feature again after sustaining the problem early on in last Monday’s home defeat by Wigan, going on to say:

It is season over for him but he doesn’t need surgery, which is what we were scared of. So he will be out for six to eight weeks. It is an ankle problem but just a sprain.

The Gunners boss also revealed Abou Diaby will return to the squad, after taking part in a friendly on Wednesday evening. Francis Coquelin is back in full training after picking up a hamstring problem but will remain sidelined as he builds up his fitness.

Sir Alex Ferguson has ruled out both Anderson and Paul Pogba for the remainder of United’s campaign this morning. The former has failed to recover from a hamstring injury, while Pogba sustained an ankle injury in a reserve game earlier in the week and will miss his side’s title run-in.

Reports suggest Leighton Baines is expected to return to the Everton starting XI before the season is out. The left-back has been ruled out of this weekend’s trip to United but according to the Mail, he will be back in time for the final game of the season against Newcastle. The club have only confirmed he will be missing for tomorrow, though with doubts still hanging over his availability for next week’s double Gameweek against Fulham and Stoke, many plans are currently up in the air.

Blackburn pair Yakubu and Junior Hoilett returned to training yesterday as the pair look set to win their fitness race ahead of the visit of Norwich. Both were subbed off in last week’s 3-0 defeat at Swansea and were doubts with knee and hamstring problems respectively, but reports indicate they are on course for tomorrow’s crucial showdown with the Canaries, as Steve Kean looks to grab a vital three points as his side battle relegation. Gael Givet trained with the squad this week after being left out at the Liberty, with Kean suggesting he “wasn’t in the right frame of mind” to take part. With Grant Hanley likely to be out with an ankle injury, Givet looks set to come back into the first-team fold.

Brendan Rodgers has suggested he is set to hand a few of his fringe players some game time over the remaining four matches of the season. The Swansea boss has revealed he is looking to freshen things up, though with the Welsh club not yet mathematically safe, his tinkering may be set aside for another week – victory at Bolton tomorrow would ensure their survival, though. Intriguingly, reports also suggest that Rodgers is looking at a new 3-4-3 system for next season.

Alan Pardew has revealed he has no qualms with fielding Rob Elliot in tomorrow’s home clash with Stoke. The keeper is on standby to start after Tim Krul picked up a back problem in training and, with the Magpies conceding just a single goal in the last five Gameweeks, their manager is confident of Elliot’s ability to step up, should Krul prove to be unavailable.

I’m not concerned about Tim. Robbie Elliot will play if he doesn’t play – I wouldn’t blink about putting him in. He’s been brilliant at the training ground with all the extra work he’s done with our strikers and everybody else. He deserves to be in goal.

Harry Redknapp was somewhat cryptic in this morning’s press conference. The Spurs boss revealed he is waiting on the fitness of as many as “four or five” players ahead of the trip to QPR. Younes Kaboul and Niko Krancjar are definitely out for the London outfit, though; the duo have failed to recover from knee problems in time for the visit to Loftus Road.

Who also tell us that the chance of a Newcastle clean sheet is equal to 100% less the chance of Wigan scoring.

And they have been confirming this basic statistical rule for us week in-week out since the start of the season.

Arteta out is seriously bad news for us, particularly against Chelsea. He runs central midfield, keeps possession and starts moves. Without him both our attacking and defensive returns are threatened - his injury against Wigan happened in the 6th minute, they scored in the 8th and 9th and we seemed to spend the remaining 81 with a big Arteta-shaped hole in the centre.

Considering losing Walcott and possibly Verm for DGWers.

The only problem is whether he will start both games.

If he does, then he's a reasonable punt.

I think Cisse's 2 fixtures have potential to be tough. Adebayor is so hit and miss he could get a couple of 2's for the 2 games and then get a 24 the week after, once you transfer him out in anger.

Lads I would really do with some advice on my team for this week,Anything you would change and who could I get into make a difference in 36?.

    Gw 35 I'm going

    Given

    N Taylor,Simpson,Evans

    Dempsey(v),Siggy,Barfa,Tony V

Cisse, Rooney and Tevez (c) (Had a massive knee jerk and chucked him in there, which I regret)

    Subs Vorm,BAE,Sess,McAuley

I'm in a really close League and these next weeks are Huugge...have fought back from 190 points down in January to go 45 behind with time running out!!. All opinions are welcome.Just broke the 90,000 ish mark which is fantastic as I was in the millions not long ago. Thanks in advance :).

    Mig/Sorenson
    Verm/Kompany/Evans/Caulker/Kelly
    Walcott/Bale/Valencia/Siggy/McClean
    RVP/Rooney/Cisse

94 points clear in my ML, 1 FT and 3.1 in the bank.

I don’t need to anything too stupid, but I think I can do a 4 point hit without it doing too much damage.

My thoughts are to get rid of Walcott for Dempsey and then get rid of Sorenson. Regardless of what Pulis says, I don’t trust him and he’d more than likely rotate him and Begovic for the two games.

So should I just get in Bogdan who has the DDGW, or maybe go for someone slightly more expensive, like Friedel or Cech (who I’d bench this GW)?

    Thoughts?

What Everton players are people looking at for the double now Baines is likely out?

Can't really fit in Pienaar or Jelavic and not sure their other defenders are worth it over someone like Huth, Cahill, BAE etc. But they're in good form and have a nice double, so seems wrong to have no one.

      Hibbert I'm thinking of.

4.6 so he's a cheap equivalent to the likes of Huth/Cahill/BAE.

They all have bigger attacking potential, but for cleansheets, Hibbert could do alright.

Yeah that's who I was looking at, think they should be good for at least one CS in the double and reasonable fixtures after.

It's just such an unexciting player to bring in compared to Huth/Cahill/BAE.

The double gameweek, the way I see it - its really hard to plan even now because Chelsea might rest players this week for the Barca game.

Anyone agree with the thoughts below?

Liverpool - rest players for the FA Cup so might not play 2nd game
Fulham - Only really Dempsey worth it and most have him
Stoke City - no-one of interest
Everton - possible interest but with baines out with only jealvic taking up a precious spot
Chelsea - cant choose to the gameweek but maybe mata
Newcastle - have two players already so only cisse
    Bolton - noone of interest
    Tottenham - Bale and Ade

Do you think Torres will start both Chelsea games in dgw??

Not with Drogba's current form. Torres is second choice at the minute so will likely play one game and Drogba the other IMO.

Anyone have any info on who the '4 or 5 players' are that Harry needs to check on for this w/e?

I was planning on bringing Bale in, but won't if he's a doubt....

The first two are Kaboul & Kranjar but knowing Harry the other 2-3 could be reserve/fringe/squad players more likely than starting 11 players. Dawson maybe?

got 6 (?) planning on one more for next week. Just felt like I was missing out on Siggys points and Sess has slowed up recently. But doubting myself now... 🙁

hmmm poor transfer IMO considering the up coming gameweeks. Also Brendan is hinting of rotation to his Swansea squad.

Do you think Wolves will go down on a high and score against on-form City? Liverpool haven't got a CS in a while and all their injured defenders are back. Hard call.

Hey guys. Some advice appreciated (always worked out well for me in the past so here goes)

Mignolet - Jevans Richards Simpson - Dempsey (v) Siggy Valencia Sess - RVP Roonz Cisse (c)

    Bench: Vorm Moses Vermelen Caulker

    Start 11/bench correct?

    Also, thinking of possible FT:

    a) Vorm/Mig to Bogdan (and start Bogdan nx 2 weeks). Minimum 4 pts each week and my 2 keepers only have 1 gw so approx 6 pts max. Mig and Vorm fix shaky after gw 36 anyways.
    b) Sess to Barfa (dgw next but leaves me with 3 castle and shaky fixtures)
    c) do nothing and use for Bale, Ade and BAE next week for dgw

    Appreciate any thoughts. Thx.
