Having hoovered up 13 goals and nine assists from the Spurs midfield last season, Rafael Van der Vaart placed himself firmly in the heavy-hitter bracket. Spot-kicks and set-piece delivery, coupled with a goal threat that few, if any, midfielders can better, he delivers a package that warrants a hefty outlay. Predictably, however, the Dutchman has failed to maintain the consistency demanded of a player with an initial price tag of 10.0 this term.

Van der Vaart’s dairylea hamstrings are the concern. Once again his season has been blighted by twinges and twangs, with constant reoccurrences disrupting his pitch-time, along with more recent calf and ankle injuries. Subsequently, his campaign has been limited to 24 starts: a chain of 11 appearances being his best run of games. Harry Redknapp also appears to remain skeptical on Van der Vaart’s fitness, having subbed him off on 16 occasions so far this term.

Therein lies the problem. Van der Vaart would seem set to start both of Tottenham’s Gameweek 36 fixtures with relegation threatened Blackburn and Bolton, but is unlikely to record 90 minutes in both. Nonetheless, from his support role alongside the awkward talents of Emmanuel Adebayor, Van der Vaart is well capable of inflicting damage and fetching returns given an hour on the pitch.

Having delivered six double figure hauls already this season, including four in five Gameweeks in a chain of 53 points in October, Van der Vaart’s potential to explode is obvious. Few midfielders can rival that and, looking at the fixtures, in addition to Tottenham’s undoubted motivation to attack and score goals as they pursue a Champions League slot, everything falls into place.

With Fantasy Premier League (FPL) ownership of under 6%, the Dutchman also qualifies as an unlikely differential. Just the ticket for those looking to bridge a seemingly impossible mini-league deficit. If Tottenham do overcome their current malaise over their remaining matches, Van der Vaart could well prove to be the catalyst.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    you said you expect kelly to play.....who do u think will make way for him?

    Hughes: started the last 5 and theyve gone unbeaten in the last 4

    Senderos: scored the winner in the last game

    i got rid of kelly as cant see either being dropped this week

      I've got Kelly and am leaving him in. If he's dropped, it's unlikely he'll be recalled for 2nd match.

      Senderos was dropped the last time Kelly recovered from a knock, I doubt attacking potential comes into Jol's thinking when picking his CB partnership.

        I think this is wishful thinking Breadbin

        Kelly, Baird, Hughes and Senderos could easily rotate like Jol has done earlier in the season and I see no reason for him to play them twice in 3 days.

        I predict rotation. Annoying really, since I have Kelly as my 1st sub for BAE.

              No such thing as common sense when chasing. All I'm doing is transferring out players my rival has and hoping for the best. It doesn't work btw.

              Torres will play the first game you'd think, doubt it for the 2nd.

    Morning All,

    I asked yesterday why Cabaye is not flagged? I don't think any Scouts were about.
    A tweet says Pardew hopes to have him back, and he is still on the injuries list here as doubtful.

    Any Scouts around now to clarify the FFS view please.

    I don't want to take a hit with him doubtful only to find he doesn't play.

    I’m now looking at a 4 pointer instead..

    Baines -> Jagielka
    Valencia -> Pienaar
    Yak -> Cisse

    I think it’s safer and allows me a straight forward swap of Tevez -> Rooney in gwk 37..

    It would only give me 5 dgwk players though?

    Kaboul, Cahill and RVP out

    Jagielka, Walker and Jelavic in for an 8 point hit. wasn't planning this big a hit but injuries are forcing my hand otherwise im left to play Kompany and Evans in the double.

    got my mini league sewn up so looking to roll the dice a little to try and improve overall rank. This gives me 7 double game week players with enough cash to bring Rooney or RVP in for the last two games in place of either Jelly or Cisse.

    what do you think?

        OK. Vermaelen, Evans, ... nope. You need another defender. Sorry.

          Bosingwa and Jagielka would be my suggestions.

    Do you think there's any Chelsea player (except Cech) that is seriously worth considering for the DGW?

      I have Mata but I'm really not confident he'll play anywhere near 180 mins, tbh I'd be happy with 90 but seems silly to take him out for anyone...

    Really stuck with what to do – would appreciate your help

    Szcesy (Habsi)
    SIMPSON Caulker SHAWCROSS (Evans BAE)
    McClean Siggy DEMPSEY BALE (Valencia)
    Rvp Rooney CISSE

    I have 2FT and £2.8m in the Bank.

    Based on feedback from other threads - McClean def out for BArfa/Pienaar but am not sure about the other move. Should I:

    A) play 4-3-3 and do BAE - Jagielka/Walker OR
    B) Rooney - Jelly - isn't he a must have?! I can bring Rooney back next week then for SWA

    Please help!

    I have good leads in all my mini-leagues so would rather not take a hit if possible.

    I am confident I have come to my final decesion

    Baines -> Hibbert
    Valencia -> VDV
    Yak -> Cisse ( 4 point hit)

    I am worried about lack of everton attack. The only way I could change that is if I get Pienaar instead of VDV or Jelavic instead of Cisse..

    I'm only fielding 5 dgwk players 🙁

        I can't afford Jagielka if I do the other two moves. Jagielka would also be my preferred choice.

    Current team:

    Mignolet Krul
    Caulker McAuley Evans J Santon Kompany
    Sigurdsson Silva Brunt Sessegnon Valencia
    RVP Aguero Cisse

    Got 2 FT’s and can take an couple of hits if they'll cover the points for the DGW too. My initial thoughts are

    Sess > Demps (bit tactlical as a close rival just behind me has him)
    Aguero > Jelly or ?
    Silva > Pienaar
    Brunt > Bale

    Bit concered by my defence but could cope.

        Absolutely "it's time to risk it all" I will do anything to take advantage of DGW. -8 or -12 x 2 does not harm.

    ok lads chasing a 26 point lead. here is my team at the moment:

    KRUL mignolet

    SKRTEL verm evans caulker turner

    BALE DEMPSEY sigurdsson valencia walcott

    rvp ageuro CISSE

    im thinking taking out ageuro and walcott for a 4pt hit? possibly taking a 8pt hit to bring in pienaar for siggurdson or bringing in a DGW defender.

    the guy on top has rooney aguero rvp strikeforce, pienaar cabaye bale petrov. he brought in peinaar and cabaye so far for a 4pt hit. i think he will make another change friday night.

    should i bring in pienaar to cancel his threat and then get him wid cisse, jelavic and co??
