Two games left and level on points with City, United’s attempts to retain their Premier League trophy could well be scuppered by goal difference now. Currently eight goals behind their rivals, it’s perhaps a tall order to haul in such a superior margin but with Swansea rolling up to Old Trafford this Sunday, it’s a fair assumption that Sir Alex Ferguson’s side will go on the attack in their final home game of the campaign.

Even if City drop points at Newcastle earlier in the day, United are unlikely to play it cagey. A final day trip to Sunderland is hardly the easiest of tasks – the Black Cats have tasted defeat just once at the Stadium of Light since Martin O’Neill’s arrival and have returned three clean sheets in the last five in front of their home fans. Three points, and plenty of goals, will be a must for Ferguson this weekend.

Swansea’s recent away form will afford United plenty confidence. The Welsh side have conceded three goals in two of their last three on the road and, with Brendan Rodgers trialling a 3-4-3 last weekend, shipped four at home to relegated Wolves. The new system is likely to be ditched, with a 4-3-3 offering a little more solidity but, with the Red Devils desperate for inspiration after Monday night’s limp display at the Etihad, Nani could well be the spark United need.

A look at his recent form shows that, prior to Monday’s game, Nani had produced attacking returns in four of his last five matches. Scoring against Villa and Everton in his previous two, the 9.9 priced midfielder had also provided his Fantasy owners with four assists and four bonus points over those featured fixtures, despite coming off the bench in two of those appearances. Antonio Valencia, on the other hand, has a single assist in his last five, while Ashley Young has a pair of assists in his last five – both from highly debatable penalty decisions after theatrical dives against QPR and Villa. With both players appearing from the subs bench on Monday, Nani appears to have been promoted up the pecking order and his start looks the most secure.

The Portuguese winger was hardly helped by Monday’s change of formation. Shifted to the right, with Ryan Giggs handed a role on the left as United lined up in a 4-5-1, Nani returned no more than two Fantasy Premier League (FPL) points but Ferguson will surely revert to 4-4-2 on Sunday once again. With eight goals to his name already – compared to Valencia and Young’s combined tally of nine – last season’s top scoring FPL player will need to step up this weekend and, if goals are to be on the agenda, he’s more than likely to play a significant part.

      heres my opinions..copied n pasted from last page

      why are people getting rid of mclean this week for moses for a hit?

      despite sunderland being in poor form he has 17 points in 3 games, ppi of 66 over these 3 games with 4 bps and is playing a team that have let in 6 in their last 4 home games

      even if he doesnt perform and ends up with 2 points is it really that likely that moses will score more than 6 away at blackburn (a game blackburn are favourites to win)

      in his last 16 games moses has scored more than 6 three times!

        Well imo Wigan are clear favourites for that game. They've just taken Newcastle apart ffs. I see your point about McClean's form but he really is a home boy and Fulham is a tough place to go while I wouldn't really want to play him v MUN, while Moses has WOL.

        Still will bear that all in mind.

          also wigan are 2/1, thats a massive price if you really fancy them to win there. ill be backing blackburn myself

                on a side note who would you swap Mata for for a hit in order to get room for ade? Needs to be 6m or less and needs two good last games

                  Factor in whether Wigan will need a result next week. They could be safe and I think that's why advice is being given to wait. Moses has been on a good run while Wigan have been desperate for results.

    Last week worked out badly for me, took an 8 point hit and only got 4 more points than my rival and had Moses on the bench! Need to catch up 40 points in the next two weeks think I'm struggling!

    My team currently is:

    Kenny Mignolet
    Walker Simpson J EVANS Caulker Vermaelen
    Bale MOSES Valencia Siggy Ben Arfa
    Jelavic CISSE RVP

    The ones in Capitals are the players my rival also has, do I need to take a couple of real big chances to catch them? And any recommendations of who?

    Any help would be great thanks!

      well you got problems in defence... only Vermaelen likely to play (Simpson, Caulker not gonna get a sheet)

      I would suggest Evans for ??? (depends on cash)

      and take a litle risk with your captain. If you go rvp, you are probably saying goodbye to your chances of winning the league. at this stage, you need more than just your players to do well, you need his to do badly!

    This has probably been discussed at length but why is VP so far ahead of Rooney in the captain poll?Robin Van Persie (56%, 1,496 Votes) Wayne Rooney (17%, 450 Votes)

    I think with united needing goals to have a chance of winning the title then they will be all out attack against a Swansea who just conceded 4 at home to Wolves.

    Ok we all know what VP is capable of and Norwich defence has, over the season, been worse than Swanseas but I rate uniteds attack over Arsenals anyday.

          i would TOTALLY go for Rooney

          United will surely tear Swansea a new one... Fergie up to his nonsense when he says GD is out of the window

          Arsenal on other hand, i think are crawling over the line at the moment, and would take a 1-0 or 2-0 win

      - Newcastle might trip City up
      - Even if they don't, Utd might not go all out (can't afford to risk dropping points, title probably won't come down to GD anyway)
      - Plenty of Utd attackers who could steal Rooney's points

      I still expect Rooney to get a decent score, but I just reckon RVP is both less likely to draw a blank and more likely to explode

    need some more advice,

    my defense is in serious need of some changing
    vorm (tough fixture), mig (rotation risk)
    verm, jags, evans (inj), cahill (doubt), caulker (tough fixture)

    This leaves me with vorm and caulker playing for certain against utd (which scares me), and verm and jags the only decent players. I have 1.2 in the bank and I already made a transfer for this week so anything I do will cost me -4. so my question is, do I just leave it and hope mig and cahill play so I don’t have to play my swansea players against utd, or should I change vorm to friedel or cahill to walker?

    so tl;dr
    1) keep that team and hope mig and cahill play
    2) vorm -> friedel for -4
    3) cahill -> walker for -4

    Only 40 points ahead in my cash ML so need to tread carefully still. Current GW37 team:

    Friedel (Ruddy)
    Verm Hibbert Simpson/Caulker (JEvans)
    Dempsey Bale Pienaar Valencia (Siggy)
    Rooney(C) Cisse Jelavic

    Main rival has used his FT on Siggy>Moses and I'm expecting this line-up:

    Bogdan (Vorm)
    Verm Hibbert Enrique/Turner (Martin)
    Dempsey Bale VDV Moses (McClean)
    Rooney RVP(C) Aguero

    I think the teams are fairly even but my main concern is going without RVP. Considering the following:

    A) Cisse & Siggy > RVP & Maloney for a hit (would bench Maloney this week)
    B) Jelavic & Valencia > RVP & Moses (cancels out his main differentials ... boring!)
    C) Save transfer, then next week bring in Aguero plus another

    What do the wise folk of FFS think?

    RACE FOR TOP 1K

    Rank - 5,000 - Points - 2,103
    Rank - 4,000 - Points - 2,112
    Rank - 3,500 - Points - 2,117
    Rank - 3,000 - Points - 2,122

    Rank - 1,250 - Points - 2,151
    Rank - 1,000 - Points - 2,159

    Seemed unthinkable a few weeks ago...but I still believe it's possible. Would have to be two incredibly maverick captaincies though to gain 43 points in two weeks...

          I know, we all have our sad stories. It's just that those two stand out for me since I got suckered into the Arsene "resting Rvp bullshit" in gw 24. I dropped 12k places and from 15k to 27k and from then on I had my work cut out the last 12 weeks.

          The losing of 7 pts(by playing Rooney) is annoying since I had Mclean pencilled in for 3 weeks on my planning sheet. That's what you get when you try and win a ML and cover your rivals.

    I'm not sure how this will affect FF but Man Utd will go into the Swansea match knowing the Man City result.
    If Man City win, Man Utd can go on all out attack while if Man City fail to win, Man Utd might be more cagey if 1 or 2 goals up.

        By cagey I mean after they've gained the lead e.g. what they should have done when 4-2 up against Everton. Starting with a cagey lineup and tactics to play for a draw is a different matter.

    Ok so here we go. I’m 12 points of first place, with the winner claiming £150. I had an ok game week, while the leader had a stormer with both Terry and Walker being the difference between our sides really.

    I sit with:

    Vorm
    Enrique, Shotton, Turner (Simpson & Evans)
    Siggy, Dempsey, Bale, Petrov, (Young)
    Cisse, Jelavic, Tevez

    For this weekend, im thinking of benching Siggy and bringing in Young, although not sure how wise that will be, as I can see Rooney being shunted out left.

    I can’t really afford to take a 4 point hit at this stage given the stakes. The leader has RVP so that isn’t an option for me really.

    I’m thinking:

    Young -> Piennar
    Young -> Nani
    Young -> VdV
    Tevez -> Hernandez

    I have £6.9 in the bank.

    Any thoughts?? Its taking over my life at the moment. Not sure what that says about me

      Could go either way, I see your dilemma. Personally, Nani is too much of a rotation risk at this stage of the season. Also I didn't see the game as I was out but I heard he was pretty poor vs City. VDV is bang in form, has great fixtures and Spurs are fighting for 3rd/4th spot.
